weve watched 13 years of failure. If theres one thing sabres fans are keenly attuned to, its players who suck. Laughton aint it dude. More power to y'all if you can get a first for him. I hope its not from the Sabres.

probably could, I think the larger issue is could you convince Hayes to waive. Id guess no but you never know.

I assume the sabres will try to trade Jokiharju for a 3C but if they strike out with him as a trade piece im all for something like this. Idk why STL would do it, underlying numbers are pretty solid and he has a sweet cap hit.

odds they move Nic Roy instead of howden?

I won't comment on the value, I dont watch enough of Faulk. But the Sabres are already committed long term to 3 blue liners, and Id guess barring a really bad 24-25 season, Byram will get a long term deal as well.
Even with the retention, it doesn't really work with the internal cap the Sabres have. That's why they've been so reluctant to deal prospects, even lower end ones, during Adams' tenure. He's not dumb (speaking in relative terms here lol) he knows he quite literally can't afford to deal the guys on ELC's unless its an absolute home run because they need a steady pipeline of ELC's coming through to sustain whatever they build.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I think a top-6 center with a proven pedigree and three years' term on a moderate cap hit gets more than a 2024 first and an A prospect (and you're not even offering that), and the fact that Jokiharju's contract is up and his Qualifying Offer is $2.6 million may discourage cap-stressed Vegas from making that RhD swap. (The Golden Knights already have 7 defensemen under contract for next season anyway.)</div></div>
Jokiharju probably isn't a value add for them I agree but this essentially solves their cap problem in one deal. I do think its likely someone beats this offer though.

I dont think the Sabres will prioritize a move like this but I could easily see them doing it too.

of all the things the Sabres definitely aren't doing, this is the one they are doing the absolute least.
Not sure that sentence makes any sense, but it makes more sense than the Sabres offer sheeting Hronek. If that makes sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>On the surface, I agree. But one can only play so many LDs and you guys have about 63 of them.</div></div>
Theyve publicly stated many times theyre down to play all LHDs. Likely stems from the luxury of two of them being 1st overalls who put up strong results on their off hand. Novikov is probably one more year away. Jokiharju will definitely be gone, Clifton probably and decent chance Samuelsson will as well. There will be room in the lefties only d-core, however ill-advised that may or may not be lol.

Adding muscle without just signing a goon
Think the move here is probably for Nic Roy like others have mentioned. Reasonable contract, good underlying numbers, lacks trade protection.

off season
sabres dont have the rep, city or cash to make a splash in the off season. I dont mean cap space. Its not an accident in a year everyone thought theyd make a push for the playoffs, they spent like the coyotes. Most likely add a 3C who has a contract with no bonuses in it. and maybe a 7th d-man.

would be shocked if the Sabres moved on from Novikov. Been really high on him since draft day, looks great in the AHL. I suppose for a bigger trade sure but I dont think thats realistic for the team at the moment.

Make Buffalo Great
the only real issue here is skinner isnt waiving to go anywhere other than Toronto (maybe ottawa). Otherwise this is probably fine, though i doubt TK and Guentzel sign in buffalo.

Last chance
The owner who is too cheap to fire granato/hire real coach is probably not going to let the sabres spend to the cap after the season ticket renewal numbers tanked.

Skinner Asks Out
jeff skinner isnt asking out. The guy said no to LA and yes to BUF so he could be closer to Toronto. He's not leaving unless its for the leafs and theyd have to gut their whole roster to make room for his cap hit.

Please Kevyn Get Some Big Boys
Not opposed to moving savoie to offload skinner's deal. But i dont think toughness is this teams issue. They simply have no game plan. Everyone else has a set of tactics they employ at any given situation (up one goal, down by one etc.). We dont have any of that. Our PP doesnt have a system, our PK is just a bunch of young fast guys. When we're down a goal we actually generate fewer chances than when the game is tied.
Things like added toughness are marginal moves. The root of the problem is they dont know what to do. Thats a coaching issue.

bet the farm the sabres overpay for Laughton this summer, but it won't be ostlund. Mgmt isn't trading any of their first rounders in the minors.

Whats Buffalos plan
Skinner is going to lose his spot in the top six as he gets older and his offense no longer out paces his defense. Theyre not going to move any of their prospects. They need a steady flow of ELC deals b/c theyre not in a position to spend anywhere near the cap. I doubt the lines will be exactly this but most are projecting:
Peterka-Thompson-Tuch
Benson-Cozens-Quinn
Skinner-Krebs-Kulich
Girgensons-trade-Greenway
Rosen
Dahlin-Power
Samuelsson-Byram
Johnson-Clifton
FA signing
Jokiharju is probably the odd man out and gets flipped for a 3 or 4c. Krebs stays in the bottom six. Savoie gets a full year in the AHL. Ostlund is 2 years away.

New Luukk Devils
huh thats actually interesting. I know a bunch of BUF fans will say yes but the owner is basically penny pinching all the way through and its also a huge gamble for 1 years performance. Thats not even factoring in Levi in the minors.
Id still guess that they match but its a clever way to screw over an eastern conference opponent. Too bad the NHL hates fun.

Seems about right but I think Forsling deserves a spot over Larsson, although i guess thats a right/left hand thing.
