<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>Pretty much. Hopefully that $4.5M jump kicks in, rather than the $1M. Little to no wiggle room, otherwise.</div></div>
I guess the hope is that at some point players like LaF, Kakko, and Chytil will ALL develop enough so that the needs at the TDL are bottom 6 (and depth D). But yearly burning of 1st round picks (even late 1sts) is a sure fire way to slowly drain the prospect pool- which is so needed in this CAP era. Many complain about the salary cap….I put more emphasis on the incompetent management navigating the system which is in place.

so I guess we're looking at another year renting a RW at the TDL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>eller is very much available but sheary i would see as more of a utility guy to for example move vesey off the top line whereas motte is more of a strict fourth liner</div></div>
They need a center tho. Like it wouldve be Sheary instead of motte kinda thing.
They have the worst 4C in the NHL atm with Leschysyn lol

The Only Way to Acquire Kane is to Screw Goodrow
If Drury had his sights on Kane he wouldn't have taken Motte without retention. (Wouldn't have traded for Tarasenko either)
Probably the price is too high from CHI (reportedly)
Neither NYR or TOR decided to bite on Kane...

Almost Done
Love the Calgary deal (as long as he’s the 13F), hate the Chicago deal
Big overpay for Lafferty, plus the rangers can’t afford to be paying their 4C much more than league minimum next year. I would expect to see Brodzinski or (ughhh) Leschysycyxn there
EDIT: if Chicago will retain 50% on Lafferty, you might have something. Still don’t like the cost though

KANE AND TARASENKO together is possible
They can acquire him, but don't need to, and probably won't unless he comes cheap considering his injury status. Plus, if the reports are true that he would only waive for two teams, then it's exactly like the Giroux situation which the value pieces were mostly a 2024 1st + Tippet + a 3rd.
So, all things considered, this should be more like a 2025 1st + Kravtsov to Chicago, they retain for free, and the second team gets a 4th from Chicago for retaining.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlimTJ100</b></div><div>I wouldn’t put the summer as a UFA out of the equation tho. And we should jump on that opportunity imo. 3 years 9 million or something close to that (remainder of Panarins deal)</div></div>
Agree. If he wants to sign a new, team friendly deal to play at MSG with Mika and Panarin, I'm all for it, assuming his hip is ok. Just not interested in giving up any assets for him at this point.

There is no shiny object in Chicago and Drury knows that, and that's why he got Tarasenko. Kane isn't going anywhere near MSG.

fresh start
Doubtful Drury does this because of need. His main objective is not to make player happy or give them fresh starts, it's to improve his club.

Finishing touches
Yeah i mean, Kravstov for just a 5th is really an absurd notion. At the least, we get a 2nd in return. The guy has actually been decent in limited action, but just isn’t in good standing w the club owing to previous years’ behavior. Imo, he still projects as a highly probable top 9 forward. Just needs to add strength. Sad NYR couldn’t develop him properly as he has the NHL talent, unlike Lias.

It is Still Financially Possible to Get Both
Solid plan. Up to Kravtsov to prove he belongs on the roster, but the two moves above are just what’s needed to solidify the bottom six.

Next 10 games or so are going to be massive for Kravtsov. If he can prove he belongs on this team for a playoff run, then there's probably no room for both. But if he doesn't, then this is a great plan to pick up both guys.

23-24 Rangers Dealing with Cap Crunch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>Definitely not preferable to lock these young guys up with shorter deals. Unfortunately, it feels like a necessary evil.
Lindgren and Goodrow still have value, at the moment. Would prefer not to move them now.
When 23-24 ends...at a time when Kakko and Schneider are next up for new deals...while Kreider and Trouba are both able to then be moved...then Drury can start selling pieces off.
Too many of our big Contracts are immovable. Can't do much with them there. Just try and squeeze in what you can at this moment, and wait patiently for the Cap jump.</div></div>
Agree 👍
Goody might be the first main piece to be sacrificed this off-season to resign the kids. But hopefully not. Lindgren is also emergency option. But yeah, we all knew this day would come.

Only need to survive next season then Kreider and Trouba goes from NMC to M-NMC. But next will not be pretty unless Drury knows something we don't know.
