I think just the mittle would suffice, they are taking okposo and those aren't going to be the usual top tens with all the offensive talent(make them top 3 protect to be sure)

No they don't. Hoffman is a 1-year contract. A first and Nylander is already more than Skinner from a year ago, and Skinner had a better season.

Offseason to end the Draught
Very nice. I would not have thought of moving Okposo to make space to sign Duchene,
We all have a different evaluation of the Sabre talent so yours may be better than mine, but here is my pea brain evaluation.
Larsson and Girgensons are nearly equal. Girgensons is a little more physical, Larsson is a better center, I think their trade value would be about the same.
I think Scandella has some value, but your concept is fair and maybe what it takes to move his $4,000,000 contract.
This site was developed by examining the trades GM's made to exchange draft picks <a href="https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/4/25/4262594/nhl-draft-pick-value-trading-up" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/4/25/4262594/nhl-draft-pick-value-trading-up</a> Buffalo's 2 first round picks is a bit of an over payment based on this data. Asplund, Rasmus and Thompson, Tage could be taken out of the trade. As a matter of fact, using that site to make the trade fair Colorado would need to add Ottawa's 3rd round pick.
IMO Tampa would love that trade.
While i think Okposo has value if used properly, giving up a first round draft pick to make room for Duchene seems to make sense.
Over all very plausible as I think Buffalo is over paying in nearly every trade, but as I said, I may be overvaluing the Sabre assets.

19-20 Sabres
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Severed</b></div><div>If I have Nylander/Thompson/Ruotsalainen up I'd rather them playing with Eichel and Skinner as their upside and potental is much higher. Of those three ideally its Nylander and the other two (especially Thompson are in Rochester) I totally agree that one of the problems with Okposo the last few years has been who he has been playing with. But i'd rather give our premium prospects the best chance to succeed and try to figure out better linemate for Okposo. Think maybe: Sheary - Rodriguez - Okposo as a line with just players we have now.. but thru trade or free agency that could be upgraded.</div></div>
I agree that we should have sent Thompson to Rochester, but since STL had him in the NHL most of the year, it may have been tough to send him down.
BTW he made the most of his short time in Rochester, with 6 goals in 8 regular season games and scored half of the Amerks playoff goals.
Asplund had an amazing last 1/3 season scoring 22 pts in 21 games.
Ruotsalainen had only one less goal than Kakko last year.
Olofsson did well in Rochester last year and looked very comfortable playing with Jack with 2 goals and 4 pts in 6 games.
Nylander is a conundrum (a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma). Only Olli Juolevi has performed more poorly than he. I have only watched his play with the Sabres and during the prospect challenge and he has not impressed me yet. But maybe he will break out.
Finally I think Okposo, would do well with Rodrigues and Sheary. I just wanted to put Okposo on the top line to show case him. If playing with Jack could get him up to 25 goals maybe he would be trade-able especially if the Sabres retained part of his salary.
Well, I enjoy reading you comments, you provide excellent insight.

Obviously overlooked it. I can see Bryam somehow dropping to 5. Hawks are kinda ok at depth with LDs, Colorado could take Dach, have an awesome 1C 2C tandem in a couple years.
Weirder things have happened so anything's possible. Would mean giving up less too.

Your trades are interesting. And actually pretty fare. A 1st to eat okposos contract is a lot. Dont Think you have the right team though. Arizona is kinda trying to do the right thing. Can see Ottawa doing it, to make the minimum though.

Let's do this Thang
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Severed</b></div><div>Yea just next year Buffalo has an extra $5.6m (Pominville) $3.975m (Moulson) so $9.5ish million opening up. Also on this i set the cap at the lowest its suppose to go.. add another couple million to the cap next year especially if Seattle gets their team. I still think Buffalo will have enough room under the cap to do what they need to do. As littlejerryseinfeld said.. the Pegulas don't seem to mind throwing more money after bad money so, i don't expect that to change. Thanks for the input.
Oh yea I did put in the description that i expected to resign Panarin for 8 years 8 million per.. but i forgot to save that part</div></div>
Yeah, missed the Moulsin part, thanks for explaining. Yeah, about $13M for 4 players after Panarin so should be plenty.

I think the trades are pretty fair. That said, with bonuses you are up against the cap and is the Buffalo ownership ready to press the cap for next few years? Do the team revenues justify it? If could be 1 year go for it all in, and then tough decisions next year like, do you try to resign Panarin...he will likely cost $8M or more even. Hanafin will also likely get a bit more then that.

buffalo is one of the top hockey markets in north america and ownership has spent to the cap and beyond. we are still paying 3 former head coaches, 2 former GMs. the Pegula's also own the bills and are unafraid to spend money. btw, sabres, under this scenario have 17 nhl players under contract for next year with 20 million in cap space. I'm not on board with, or expect much of this to happen, but wanted to weigh in on the question on ownership

Latest crazy ideas
Not bad, but MTL isn't trading the #3. Unless it's a young budding superstar (ROR is not that young or at that level), or the team is headed for a cup run, no team will trade any of the top 5 or 6 picks this year. Fun to imagine it though.
Zadina will probably not play in the NHL this coming season anyway. Svech, Dahlin, Hughes and Bouchard are the only ones that are a lock to play this fall.

BUF MINNY OTT Deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RWellington</b></div><div>What if the trade were the Oilers 2019 1st round pick (lottery protected) + Nurse + prospect for Risto</div></div>
IMO the 2019 Draft pick will not get the job done for GMBots..... as others have posted the issue is that Risto is a solid RHD..... this is similar to the ROR situation (ROR is a legit 1or 2 Center but is not flashy and scores in the 60 point range)...... Risto puts up 40+ points, plays the right side, eats a ton of minutes, has a nasty to his game, plays PP & PK but because he plays for a team that is abhorrent in their defensive zone his overall play is downgraded by people outside of the organization and fanbase.....
I would not trade Risto as I do believe he is not only a top pair RHD but with the addition of Dahlin (who will be another minute eater eventually) this will take pressure off of Risto.... I see Risto as a key piece of getting the Sabres to a contending position.....
Therefore I would have to see a haul coming back to trade him...... you will not like what I think is fair but here goes (remember I warned you that you will not like this):

ROR To CGY rumors
Flames don't want to trade Hamilton and they don't have to either, so they likely won't deal him for anything less than an offer they simply can't refuse. This offer certainly isn't even close.
Tkachuk is a non-starter. Nobody will give up what the Flames would want in return for him.
Odds are neither Hamilton or Tkachuk get moved.
As far as value goes, and this is just my opinion:
Hamilton is worth more than O'Reilly, although it's probably fairly close.
Tkachuk is certainly worth more than McCabe.
The difference is probably greater than two 2nd round picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alexdw4</b></div><div>might be giving up a bit much, to be honest. If only Pysyk never got traded in the first place...</div></div>
Nor Zadorov, nor McNabb, nor Myers, nor letting Ruhwedel walk away.
McCabe with Ristolainen
Zadorov with Myers
McNabb with Pysyk
Ruhwedel 7th defenseman. Who in their right mind would destroy a defense to trade or give away 5 starting defensemen. Very painful to hear Don Cherry praise McNabb during every Vegas game, and watching Ruhwedel get so much ice time with Pittsburgh, and Myers an integral part of the Jets defense. Then I read our local sports writer Harrington question why DATM was fired. Sorry, it will take me a long time to get over what DATM did to this team.
