I think Pickering is the big get, not sure there’s anything I’m interested in outside of him. Understandable to not want to trade him.

Makes sense, does the Blues eating kapanen or dumo open up that possibility? I feel like Barbashev would sign there.

Moore or Reinbacher if pick is 6-10 I think make the most sense. Benson will probably be available too but who knows if the Blues would do it. Gimme one of Musty, Danieson, or Sawchyn and one of Molendyk or Simashev with the other two picks and I'm thrilled. Maybe use Barbashevs return to move up too. Maybe even more assets if Parayko moves too… Swimming in draft picks.

Yes but I think his flaws are gonna be really tricky to overcome. Moore isn’t perfect either, but I like the base a lot more.

Pace issues are far too big for Dvorsky to overcome. Would be shocked if he plays above the third line.

Better alternatives than O’Reilly: Horvat and who? The guy has scored 49 points in 51 playoff games that last four years. He’s still good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Presuming the worst case scenario as fact by policy is the literal definition of being negative. De-legitimizing their successes and attributes is the literal definition of being negative. Doing BOTH at the same time goes beyond "being negative". Like I said, climb down from the ledge, man. It's gonna be okay. And far sooner than a few years from now.
And also, analytics are highly flawed stats on multiple levels, including the building block basics of the formulas (things like xG, which need a ton of work still). They are not even remotely gospel, and they sure as hell do not "predict future success" - let alone across seasons.</div></div>
lol ‘insert Luke Skywalker gif’ for that second paragraph.
Bad teams have bad analytics, it’s that simple

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>1 - Underlyings mean exactly nothing to the standings. No discernible strengths? Bruh. You're assuming the worst.
2 - Is this some sort of high hurdle to you? And by the way, despite how we're all bashing them to the heavens and the season is cooked, it's still a .500 team. If you think there's no way for them to bounce back or improve, it's like you've never seen NHL hockey. But you have. Enhance your calm, buddy. Into every life some rain must fall. Just simple execution of the system would work wonders. I mean, that's basically everything wrong with them this season - lack of cohesion, lack of consistent intensity, making dumb mistakes. None of these are terminal, especially for a bunch of guys who were damn good last season and beyond.
3 - Again, this is presuming the worst case scenario as fact. Climb down off the ledge, man.</div></div>
Underlyings predict future success, that’s the point of using them… I’m not even being negative, just realistic. They massively over performed in 21-22 and I’d argue this is closer to where the Blues are on “true talent” than that season was. Furthermore, I’m like really excited to see a bunch of new blood enter the organization and I think the Blues could build a seriously dangerous squad in a few years if they do it right.

They’re basically done already and it’s January… underlying numbers are terrible in every facet of the game, there’s no discernible strengths, they’re losing an entire forward line…
How is next year’s team gonna be better than this awful team?
If they try to rush back to being competitive they’re gonna end up with a 12 year Buffalo Sabres rebuild.

Had like 10 shot attempts and was driving play even if his finishing didn't complete the job. No one on the team was even close to him in xG and we outshot them when he was on the ice.</div></div>
This is true, a lot of shaky plays though and I thought his linemates had excellent games. I reallyyyyy hope we can get another one for him, but I’m just gonna let it play out. I’m thinking NYR is best bet for him, Pittsburgh best for Barbs (would he extend there?) and then we’ll see about ROR. I’m guessing it’s a surprise team for him. I think it would be dumb to not trade all of them.

Trying to manage my expectations I guess, he was better yesterday but was an eyesore when I saw him live on Tuesday (obviously first game back but still.) Mr. Barbashev is playing some real inspired hockey lately, there’s gonna be a big bidding war there.
