Ok, I don't think this contract will work for Tampa's cap problems at all. Long term goalie contracts like this may back fire in the later half.

<a href="/users/Pharrow" target="_blank">@Pharrow</a>, I think DeSmith is better than Price. Forget the stats, look at how thicc DeSmith is. You have no idea how much I believe in his powers. That's what makes him better than Price

They always knew they would move or lose DeSmith.</div></div>
you are saying DeSmith's stats don't matter, the contract they gave him is cus they don't want to keep him and Jarry is better. You don't back up anything you say with facts or even valid points, you speak in hypotheticals and nonsense

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>They signed Jarry to a 1 way deal on the 2nd year. AKA they wanted him to back up.
The only reason DeSmith was the backup last year and not Jarry is they wanted jarry to play more in WBS. Jarry is the better goal tender.
I could care less about the stats. If you watched DeSmith play you know he's good enough to lose by 1. He never wins a tight game. On top of it his PK average is awful.</div></div>
You don't care about stats ... lol okay then. So they probably signed DeSmith to a 3yr deal paying him 1.25mil cus they don't want him to play. Great logic.
DeSmith might be good enough to lose by 1 but Jarry isn't even good enough to have the chance to lose by 1.

on top of it, I don't think anyone picks him up. He's not that good.
They planned on Jarry being the backup this year to begin with. That's why he was signed to a 1 way deal.
and yes, just send JJ and DeSmith down and you are there.</div></div>
It is losing the backup for nothing. How do you figure they planned on Jarry being the backup this year when they JUST gave DeSmith a 3 year deal @ 1.25? How can you honestly say "he's not that good"? Do a quick research on his stats and compare them to Jarry then we can talk again.

If you are 12 years old or under, do not be alarmed, carry on, keep growing.
If you are 13 and above, please make an appointment with Dr Bernstein, Psy D. at St Louis Regional hospital, he might help with psychological development and sarcasm comprehension.
If you are over 20 years old, never mind, this is hopeless...

Labanc was also ranked 6th in PP TOI per game for SJ, while Heinen was ranked 12th for Boston. Close to 40% of Lebanc's production this year came the way of the power play.</div></div>
Actually, Labanc totaled 36 points last season at even strength (56 points overall). That's 2 more points than Heinen had TOTAL (34 points).

Updated lines after Day 1 of FA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Reeds77</b></div><div>Agreed, I think they are going to give Kahun first shot at playing on the top line because he fit in well with Toews and Kane in Chicago. If it doesn't work out I would imagine McCann is next in line and then Rust and lastly Galchenyuck or Horny. But i really feel like Malkin and Galchenyuck are going to fit nicely together. Read an article from Yohe. Sounds like Johnson is going to be with Gudbranson to start the year. Have a feeling they might go the route Nashville has by sheltering their bottom pairing heavy.</div></div>
They could shelter them and with the minutes the other top 4 are capable of playing that won't be hard to do. I still think that is a pretty good bottom pairing though. Even if they are overpaid. It's not like the pens would have landed any big names in free agency if they didn't have those contracts on the books. They would have had to sign bottom pair free agents to replace them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Reeds77</b></div><div>I don't think he will be a disaster but it is not an ideal situation. All we can hope for is for him to be a serviceable 5/6 I guess. After watching a bunch of teams offload bad contracts you have to think Jim is at least going to try to get rid of his. It really isn't a bad cap hit just WAY too long.</div></div>
Finally someone with reasonable analysis of Johnson. He isn't the reason the team didn't have success last year. Was he put into a position to best suit his abilities he performed fine.
You could easily justify hornqvist above rust on the depth chart. Probably Kahun as well. He only has one year in the league.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>How is that possible when Connor wheeler and scheifele is their set top line. 30+ don't win you rocket trophies. 45+ goal seasons do. I watch the jets every game so I think I know which lines he played on. Yeah 2 30+ goal season and a 44 goal season is insane for a player who is 21. That trade is equivalent to Guentzel for Perrault and a 2nd
