next year
Shatty turning down 7/42M from Tampa Bay would indicate, as a Free Agent, he would not sign for just two years. As for Radulov MAN I don't know about wanting to give him 6/36M after just one year. Plus he will be 31 next year so he would be on the books until 37 with 6M cap hit. Pacioretty's Agent would be VERY happy with those numbers as he will be your highest paid forward. Haven't even talked about Carey being the highest paid player on the team. So when all contracts are signed the team would look like:
Carey Price 8+ million per year
Shea Weber 7.8 million per year
Pacioretty 7+ million per year
Radulov 6.0 million per year
Oshie 6.0million per year
Prety 5.5 million per year
Schwartz - 5.35 million per year
Andrew Shaw - 3.9 million per year
That's 50M for 8 guys ha ha

Yeah Grabner and Holden and been STEALS contract wise. Both have one additional year remaining and each are paid 1.65M. Just GREAT contracts.

MAN, you think they could get a 1st for Hansen? maybe like a 2nd and conditional 3rd that could be another second or something like that?

You got Smith right.....unfortunately it was NYR that gave up a 2nd AND a 3rd for him....OUCH. That's allot for a guy who I have a hard time saying he should get minutes over Skjei OR Holden. NOTE: I didn't say Girardi as he's a RHD and we need both him and Klein in the lineup. Overkill because we didn't pick up Shatty maybe?

This site is so negative on their comments. 90% negative, 10% positive. I'll try and stay in the 10% more often. Nice idea as STL would get a D-man with one year left on his deal. I would prefer keeping Klein as a RHD but understand you give to get. Too many people want Shatty so the 2nd to a possibly 1st make sense.

Offseason
Dumoulin: if he signed for 6 years he would be UFA at 31 and wasting his prime years at a low cap hit. Maybe a bridge deal of 2 years at that number is more likely and become a UFA at age 28.
Shultz: if he signed for 6 years he would be UFA at 32 and wasting his prime years at a low cap hit. Maybe a bridge deal of 1-2 years at that number is more likely and become a UFA at age 29.

Cool, I don't watch enough ANA games so didn't know that. I was only looking at it from a expansion draft where Manson was not getting protected.
As for Lazar, former first rounder and Doan being sent on a rental so OTT I'm guessing will want more. Maybe one of those trades where IF Doan re-signs with OTT they don't get the pick. (NOTE: It's really protection for Doan re-signing back with Arizona as a UFA)

wow, that seems like a GREAT trade from Calgary perspective. Only problem with Pouliot is that CAL would run into the same problem PIT has with Pouliot and potentially exposing him in the expansion draft.

Rebuilding Time (part #1)
Yeah it's the term that scares me for Shatty. I view both guys a PP specialist and don't really see Shatty as a Top 4 D man so wouldn't want to commit that much term. I hear you on Green being older but shorter term. Detroit not necessarily needing to trade him would need a reason to let him go.
Girardi's contract has been brutal. Love the guys effort to sacrifice his body but he's so slow now and we really are stuck with him for the term of the deal. To me, McDonagh, Skjei, Staal, Holden, Klein are the top 5 and by default Girardi has stayed in the lineup because of contract. With Green that would give us 3 LD and 3 RD again like we had a few years ago (or Girardi as the 7th D-man).
I added Graves in to offer quantity (because we don't have quality prospects because of trading all our 1st over the years.....I realize this trade would also give up a 1st though) and see our D-core remaining the same. Plus, to me our best prospect is Gropp and Shestyorkin.

WOW, talk about tearing it down after a down year possibility (even though they are currently still in 1st place haha). Most are not realistic so I won't comment on them all BUT will just say that CBJ would NEVER trade Warenski (or Dubois as he's their #1 C of the future).....especially for a bad d-man (Petry) and a soon to be UFA (Radulov) that is playing well because he's on a 1 year deal.

Trade Deadline+Offseason. Read description.
1) I don't think Vanek get's a 1st. Wonder if they could package him in a deal to Ottawa for Lazar.
2) I don't think Smith get's a 2nd. Probably a 3rd or so...maybe a 4th that turns into a 3rd if he re-signs with the team.
3) If Howard is so good why not keep him? He's got 3 years at 5M+ cap hit that's why and WPG doesn't want that PLUS they would be protecting Hellebuyck in the expansion draft and risk losing Howard to Vegas. Which means they would have traded Trouba for Frk and Russo AND dropped a round in the 2018 draft. Doesn't sound very fair.

A few things I've done when I've been playing around with the Vegas team. The only part I know 100% that won't happen is Matt Murray. PIT will buy out Fleury before they ever let Vegas get Murray.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bwells</b></div><div>The Mike Green package is excessive. That would fetch Shattenkirk. Also, I don't think you can trade him without retaining.</div></div>
I'm a Rangers fan and my thinking here is NYR can't give Shatty the 6-7 year deal he wants. This way NYR gets a RHD for 1-2 years and it costs them 1) a 1st or 2nd round pick 2) Pirri who can't stay on our 4th line 3) Clenndening who is a 7-8 D man for NYR 4) a prospect. Basically I think NYR doesn't have the quality allot of other teams have in the league when it comes to prospects so they have to offer quantity to make up for it.
Also I get confused with the retaining part at if you look at my NYR team on this site it shows they have 10.1M cap available....so there would be no need to retain if that number is correct.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Philu916</b></div><div>I do agree that moving Fast wouldn't be a horrible idea. I really am against AV scratching Buch, since I truly don't think he belongs outside the top 9. Nash imo also needs to go before he loses all trade value and his cap hit is massive especially when trying to re-sign players. If Gorts feels a top RHD is all this team needs for a run, then keep it in tact with 1 RHD and a minor rental forward upgrade like Burrows, Vrbata, etc.</div></div>
I'm OK with Buch being on an energy 4th line as NYR truly has built a team with no 80 point guy just 4 lines deep.....Next year Buch needs to step up and get inserted in the top 9 for sure though. This summer for Nash, I was thinking maybe STL if they hadn't signed Berglund so not sure where now BUT 1 year left on his deal at 7.8M hit someone might want to take a chance on him.

Yeah didn't look at the cap number BUT I notice that this site has NYR having 10.1M in deadline space........I hear you on Burrows and Vrbada might be cheaper to get anyway. I want NYR to make moves BUT not shake the core up for sure. This summer on the other hand, see if Nash can go, expose Stepan to Vegas but they will probably take Klein, Fast or Pirri I suppose.

"Good Old Days" trades
This amount of moves at the deadline makes no sense as it would ruin the chemistry currently on the team. I wanna see Nash go BUT that is a summer trade for sure as he plays on the 1st line and we will never get a player to replace him on the 1st line. Klein is a right hand shot and better than Girardi so trading him for nothing back doesn't make sense. COL trade is CRAZY, so much youth we are giving up and it's not crazy to say that Duschene is not better than Kreider

Boyle is a great idea, just gonna take more than Prout and 3rd....think 2nd and a young cheap forward. You have to remember PIT made things difficult for teams to make trade as they gave up a 2nd round pick for Ron freaking Hainsey haha. Also, Prout would be left unprotected as TB would be protective Hedman, Sustr and Stralman (NMC).

Anaheim is in a playoff spot so trading away Fowler who has been their best d-man this year just doesn't make sense. Also, Anaheim would have the same problem that Boston has with Subban......both these teams have their #1 netminder and Subban doesn't have a place on the team. last, the only way Anaheim trades a big name D man is for scorring forwards as that's what they need.

I must be the only Rangers fan that is happy with the top 6 D's. We'll I include Girardi since he's un-tradable at this point. We can't continue to trade 1st round picks and top prospects. If a D is really needed which unfortunately would mean sitting a guy like Holden out which makes no sense to me, I'd rather go after a Streit for a second round pick and Pirri / Fast.

The TB part doesn't make sense as TB would get a 1st and 3rd if they just let Vancouver sign him as a RFA for 4.5M per year.
