<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>It's a joke from TBL and VGK being the 2 biggest abusers of cap circumvention</div></div>
Jokes by definition have to be funny. 😋
Circumvention implies a breach in the rules. The league has investigated both teams and found no wrong doing. Target the league's ****ty rules not the teams wise enough to use them.
Ryan Reaves was on ltir this season when he was healthy enough to play and the Leafs had no problem leaving him there and play their young guys. That's closer to cap circumvention than anything Vegas or Tampa did.

Did you see his leg? You can't say they faked it. If he comes back for the playoffs it'll be a comeback story to be marveled.

I don't think you can have Jeannot in the top 6. There's gotta be a way to keep the Duke. The injection of him into the top 6 has transformed this team.

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #4: Deadline is Approaching
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>I think the McDavid vs Matthews and the Crosby vs Ovechkin are going to be 2 completely different debates
As the 2 biggest factors are; Toronto and EDM's chances at a cup and the all around game...
In Crosby vs Ovi, I think it's safe to say, when Crosby won the cup and went to the SCF in 2008 and 2009, we all knew Crosby was better especially because of his defensive capabilities whereas Ovi was shoot and shoot
Contrast to that, Matthews' defensive game is amongst the best in the world whereas McDavid's is average at best
To add, neither team looks as close to the cup as Vegas, Florida, NYR or Colorado does so anything related to winning will go out the window until one of them wins actually it all</div></div>
I'm more interested in the OviCrosby vs Matthews McDavid debate.

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #4: Deadline is Approaching
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>In general players will probs always admit to wanting to score more goals than assists. As goal scoring is fun ask Mark Stone. That man always acts like he scored his first. Now not to say nothing is bad with generating assists but its arguably a secondary goal unless your a Dman.
As you do need a goal to generate a primary or secondary assist ;)
Both are good accomplishments but got to admit when looking at modern scoring reaching 70 goals be crazy. As the last guy to almost do it was Ovie with 65. How he has not reached 70 be a surprise</div></div>
Both are super impressive. Only 3 guys with 100 assists. Bonkers.
And the scoring 70 goals doesn't even get you in the hall of fame!?!? Wtf.
Be interesting to see how McDavid Matthews end up compared to Ovi Crosby since scoring is way up now vs the last 20yrs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>100 assists means 100 goals were scored by your team.
Scoring 100 goals is better than scoring 70 goals.
So, the answer to your question is 100 assists.</div></div>
That some elementary school maths, I'm impressed by the simplicity of your answer. Here I am quoting stats like a sucker.

There have only been 2 NHL season with 100 assists by a player not named Gretzky. Lemieux and Orr most recently in 89.
There have been 10 70 goal seasons by a player not named Gretzky.
I dunno. 100assists seems a little more elusive.

Where do we go from here - JBB confidence check
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jukinators</b></div><div>I think you’re overrating what JBB has done for this team. Look at who he has drafted (with minimal picks)
Look at the trades he has made.
Look at the contracts he has given out.
This wasn’t a new idea I created yesterday. He is not a good gm</div></div>
Good deals/signings. Coleman, Goodrow, Savard, Bogosian, Point, Sergy, Cole, Moving McDonagh, moving Johnson, all the cap shenanigans to keep the cup winning team together, Cirelli, Hagel trade, Hagel signing, Elliot, Johansson, Eyssimont, Schenn. Maroon Bellemare. Perry.
Rough looking deals that could work out. Cernak extension.
Bad deals. Jeannot. Sheary
2 Stanley Cups and a final appearance. It's been a good run. Interested to see what he does next.

Lightning 2023/24 Season Thread
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lightning_mcqueen</b></div><div>Not sure what to think anymore to be completely honest. Bolts had a perfect opportunity to rebound in the second half of the season and we didn't take it. At this point, the quantity of losses and the quality of play is a little embarrassing, and I'm not sure how to react. This is a strong organisation, but it feels as if we've got no solutions and have given up. Furthermore, the Duclair trade was a rather bad move in my opinion. With the wildcard race tightening up, and the Bolts seemingly still faltering, I wonder about the future of the season and seasons to come. Any thoughts?</div></div>
Too good to sell.
Too bad to buy.
Injuries to Sergy and Vasy. Down seasons by every forward not named Kucherov. I dunno where you go from here. If you get in maybe you can go on a run but seems I'll advised to get rid of anymore assets in a sparse cupboard.
The core is still there and good enough. Cernak needs to take a step forward and earn that pay raise.
Cirelli needs to find a new Killorn.
Stammer needs to chill out.
Kuch and Point would probably be better if the depth was better.
Sergy is good. Vasy is good both just need an offseason to recover.
