Eichel to Seattle
The idea behind this trade is to give Eichel a new start and get him far away from buffalo while acquiring assets. As of now we don't know who the kraken will select in the expansion draft but this trade would take place before the entry draft this year. So Seattle gets a premier center to build around and buffalo would get 2nd overall on top of their choice of 2 expansion player selections to offset the cost of Eichel salary cap hit. I'm the end buffalo getting Owen power and Matt beniers and 2 roster players.

Buffalo Starting Over
Buffalo brings in depth, gets rid of overrated "leader" slaps the C on Reino, then have a core 3 centre's for the next handful of years if not longer. Cozens, Byfield, Turcotte, Lazar. On the wings then have olofsson, Reino, kempe, debrusk, Skinner, mitts, Quinn, girgensons etc them restock more in the draft. They'll likely have a pick in each tier of the first round, so have a target in each area and draft smart. And if you're lucky, maybe resign Hall in the off-season.

You might be able to come away with kakko but you'd likely have to sub out a first rd pick

Getting Vgs under the cap
Just some initial thoughts on this trade. this would give ristolainen a change of scenery and go to a competitor that he desperately wants to play for. it would also unload a bad okposo contract for the sabres while simultaneously bringing cap relief to Vegas and incentivizing the trade for Vegas by giving them next year's first round pick which would bring in cheap young good talent. For Buffalo they take on Martinez on a one-year deal who they likely walk away from next year with their plethora of defensive depth coming up in the next 2 years. It brings Pacioretty closer to his home town and provides depth, toughness and leadership that Buffalo desperately needs.

Sabres get their 2C
So the logic behind this trade is that impose brings a veteran presence and make the cap dollars work in the deal. Meanwhile, in their rebuild, hawks get a 2nd rounder- which I could also see being a 1- risto who's in his prime and mitts who's young and cheap with upside.

nashville begins its fire sale while the sabers get hall insurence
Definitely seems like a wet dream. Also if this is the beginning of a tear down why wouldnt they ask for more than just thomspson and a 2nd for forsberg?

Dumba to Buffalo
Idk if that's really sufficient for dumba. I'd think risto a 2nd and a 4th might get it done though.

Selling Drai
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan9</b></div><div>My thought process is the Oilers are starved for assets, and having Drai hasn't gotten them far in the playoffs, so I figured an influx of young talent and assets should benefit them.
Ottawa is moving into the contending phase of their rebuild, and Drai in his prime gets them there, sells tickets, and mentors the younger guys
Value is probably way off, but that's my thought process</div></div>
Value is definitely way off. No chance sens are so desperate to push to compete right now that they send their future away for a guy whos career is half over. They'd blow their load to try and compete for 8th place over the next 2 seasons to then have to start rebuilding all over and likely have to trade LDrai just to recoup more assets. Hes gonna be a lifer in EDM. at least wont see him move until the last year or 2 of his deal.

Change of scenery trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dje</b></div><div>Flames pass.</div></div>
Curious as to why?
Bennett hasent lived up to draft status and is a bottom six depth guy which the sabres need more of. The Flames just signed markstrom to 6 years so rittich isnt their guy. Hamonic walked in FA and risto is cost controlled RD that they could use in a playoff push. The sabres would then create competition at the goalie position between rittich, who's clearly lost any shot at starting in CAL and ullmark, whos inconsistent at best. The sabres then pay the guy who fairs better this year in split # of games on a bridge 3 year deal to then allow lukkonen their real goalie of the future to ease his way into the nhl. also, Flames brought in Louis Domingue so they really dont need Rittich.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BarDownShooter</b></div><div>Winnipeg needs at least double that for Laine and Niku</div></div>
Problem is theyre over the cap. They need D help and could gain a cheap prospect and controlled cap with this trade. I could see throwing in another pick, but not much else.

Wouldnt happen. Lemieux's dad is his Agent. He was drafted by buffalo and doesnt want to be there.

Toews to Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sorry, the logic behind "had to pay Skinner" is not true. Since he not worth his contract long term, Sabres would have better just to "let him walk" and spend 9m in better places. Skinner just isn't that good (meaning a complete NHL player). Gee, 23 POINTS and a minus 22 in 59 games last season. Yikes. Staal and Hall are just one year players, and still probably won't get the Sabres in the playoffs. But they will be worth something at TDL probably.</div></div>
I agree skinner is about a $7 mil player at best. But buffalo is a small market and in order to draw ppl in, they usually have to overpay.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Couldn't tell you....Sabres have gone through so many GMs in the past few years, It's hard to keep track. Who thought it was a good idea to give Skinner 9m a year?
At least Buffalo fans, have the Bills (finally)</div></div>
Not a Bills fan, couldn't tell ya.
As for skinner, they had to pay him after coming off a 40 goal campaign other wise theyd be in worse shape than they are.
now they at least have better depth having brought in staal and hall.
My thinking was 3 man depth at center and walk from staal next year for cap reasons unless he wants to stay.
Keep in mind, Staal also had a NMC

Just cant see this happening. Makar seems like the better prospect and heiskanen is probably gonna be more affordable in the long term. I'd think COL get another pick along with this if it were to happen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Yea, Toews waives his NMC for Buffalo.:huh Horrid "on ice " value for the Hawks when you consider 6m Okposo is traded.</div></div>
Way I viewed this was Chitown is rebuilding they get more in depth value and a future piece with mitts while brining in a cheaper vet in okposo whos on a short term deal they can afford. I could also see the possibility of sending a second instead of the 3rd to sweeten the pot
