Who wants a big deadline move
Yeah this doesn't make any sense. After the deadline, it's imperative that TO has 8 NHL defenceman. This will leave them with 6 for the playoffs. I am all for Klingberg who I think would make TO's defence insanely good but unless we have depth for the playoffs you are going to see Biega and Dahlstrom play and we absolutely do not ever want to see that.

Well to be honest I think both are just depth guys that don't really move the needle. A 1 for 1 is fine but beyond that, I don't really see one being much better than the other. Neither move the needle much.

Klingberg is a hell of a lot better than Barrie. He's been to the cup final where he was a beast. He's an absolute top 4 defenceman who has looked bad for only 2 seasons which also coincide with the change of system that prioritizes everything Klingberg isn't. Put him in TO with Muzzin and both players benefit. Klingberg moves into a puck possession system and Muzzin gets a major lift off his shoulders since he won't have to do everything on that pair.
I would likely prefer Severson but he would cost a lot more.

That should tell you all you need to about this conversation. Holl, Dermott, Liljegren, Sandin are all better than Schenn and it's not at all close.

It's more about how all depth players in TO are crap according to everyone on this site. Kerfoot is terrible and yet he's somehow outscoring so many of the 3rd line grinders everyone says is better than him.

I think they will do better in the playoffs than people want (the haters are desperate to see then fail) and after that I think some of this anti leaf nonsense will die down.

I am not so sure, taking 2 extra contracts has big value to Philly and they may like Ritchie there. He's not without value, he just doesn't fit TO at all.

I think LA has a good future, but I think a 2nd for a 27 year old is a big stretch.

Neither are really any upgrades over Holl. I never get less annoyed to see so many fans on here wanting to throw Holl away because he's carried by Muzzin only to replace him with someone who at best will continue to be carried by Muzzin and at worst and more likely, be less effective while being carried by Muzzin.
If we aren't getting someone to remove some of the burden on Muzzin (specifically, puck moving which he hasn't been nearly as good at this year), what's the point of doing anything? Apart from adding some big vet to battle for the 6/7/8 spot on defence. Making sure we never again see Biega or Dahlstrom.

Ruff is a placeholder, sure fire him and do what Bring up Dineen only to screw up the AHL team and his head as well?
The only thing I don't like about TMLs fans are the Bracco trades, and those are gone, so we're good.
Since we're talking whats the return for a double retain on PK?

I don't see Subban as worth the assets to acquire. Devil's should take what they can and retain half. A 2nd would be plenty and then some other team is going to want a significant asset to retain another 50% and at this stage of his career, is he really an upgrade over anything we have? I don't see it.

Why on earth is TO giving up the best player, best defenceman and a 1st in the Jets trade? And that Ritchie trade is an overpay as well.

Mrazek is better than 2 of those guys (Francois and Holtby) Campbell I think is going to stay in TO, Kuemper is going to be a mistake signing and Husso I bet stays in St Louis. Getting Mrazek would be a smart move for Jersey. Or do you want ECHL goalies in net again?

Solving the Scoring Problem Forsberg Style

Quoting: PuckLuck_77

I think a definitive NHL defenseman with Powerplay potential is worth significantly more than a 5th round pick. But hey, that's why we're on a blog/forum type site. I'm not expecting the huge return of a 1st or an A prospect, but a 2nd that is a lotto pick to a player that is more likely to not make the NHL than make it? I think that's fair value. The last player to go for just a 5th round pick was Mike Raffl. Sean Walker is worth significantly more than Raffl, and plays a premium position. He's a guy that averages 16-18 minutes a night, and he's on a team friendly deal with term.
Also, not sure if you've been watching, but LA's been a pretty decent team this year. Their success hasn't even come against the "weaker" Pacific. They've done their damage in the standings to very good teams in the East and Central. They just need finishing ability, hence the point of this ACGM.
Like I said in the trade bubble, Roy isn't available. The Kings don't have a stylistic comparable player to Roy ready to take his minutes and usage. They won't until Brock Faber is ready to enter the NHL. So think 2 years down the road.
I think it's selling low too, but in this ACGM it's for the purpose of moving enough cap to sign Forsberg.

LA is in the bottom half of the league in points percentage. They are a below average team. Walker has Doughty and Roy ahead of him and Durzi's been half decent as well. If he was 24, then maybe someone takes a flyer on him but he's 27 with two full season under his belt on a non playoff team. (Last 2 seasons) Fans on here need to realize that being a depth guy on below average teams likely make most players bubble players on good teams. Just like how bubble players on good teams can find homes on worse teams. A 2nd has the potential to be something very valuable, Walker is a 3rd pair defenceman of little importance or upside.
