What's Actually Gonna Happen
Hey man you could very well be right about all this, But If I'm Seattle im scaping up Beniers real quick, exactly the type of player I want as my first prospect (tenacious 2 way forward that's pretty easy to project). I also have Edvinsson as the second best D-man. But its definitely interesting and you could be right to go with the higher ceiling.

10 pts in 41 GP, it's just a casual 4th liner.</div></div>
He also had 3 goals in 7 games last year which gives him 13 points over his first 48 games, he was about a .5 point per game player in the AHL, now you may be right and he could just be a casual 4th liner, but I think 825K is a fine gamble on a 23 year old with size, grit and perhaps some scoring potential.

Yea I thought Gustavsson being available was suspect, who would you leave unprotected though? And yea I think that COL has to get a defenseman to waive a NMC to protect toews.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>look at the end of the day players get a short window of getting paid. They aren't out there risking CTE simply to "win" why do you think they all make tons of money. At the end of the day they want paid too, instead of someone else getting "their" money, be it owners, other guys etc... You got young guys getting paid a whole lot more than 7 mil per. Point being, if he views himself as equal and capable of putting up 100 points he's got to be wondering where his is too and what's stopping him from getting it. Team only goes so far. Crosby was always looked at as "team" friendly. But when he signed he was the highest paid player in the league. Make no doubt on that. Guys play for $, Let me know at the end of their career about how they make a move for a cup win when no one is going to pay them big money anyway.
It's not just a JT thing. You didn't see Hall take less to go content. These guys get 1 shot at a long term big money deal. 1 They have to make the most of it. If the system is what's holding him back, a saying from the fan base itself, what do you think the player is thinking. That's the point. Not saying he can't resign there. Just that it would have been wiser to do 2 years so you had more control going into that final year. As the final year sits now. If he's not even close to a 100 pt player in this system. He's got to start wondering if it's time to move on before he gets his next contract.</div></div>
I'm not trying to say "your opinion is wrong", however I don't think you are taking into account that it is in fact just your specific opinion. I am always wary of putting my worldview on others, and I fear you are doing that here. Trying to psycho- analyze things like personal motivations is extremely complicated. What motivates a specific individual varies greatly and there is alot of nuance to it.

Everyone on here hating on Lou, Just shows their pre conceived bias. Lou wins everywhere he goes, but he isn't "progressive and analytical", results don't seem to sway the opinion here. You have to win "their" way, no other thought process is allowed.

It usually manifests itself as a strange condition that will probably never be fulfilled, The CBA does not allow you to trade players for nothing, so this is the GM's way around that.

He's great and having him and Cirelli on the lineup will be a nightmare for other teams, but HOLY **** WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.
For this price to be justified, Coleman has to be a ****ing wizard for Tampa, in all aspects of the games.
It's true that his cap hit is great, and will be a great Killorn replacement for 2.7M less in cap hit next year, but still.
This is an incredibly high price to pay, I'm not happy at all.
Also, this trade hints that we are likely to see someone waive his NTC in Tampa this offseason.
And BriseBois saying "I know it's a hefty price but we can afford that" says be he's confident he's getting back some prospects/picks this summer by selling Killorn and</div></div>
This is a fair take, as a Tampa fan would you have preferred them to just stand pat if these are the prices? I just think Coleman brings so much to a team that desperately needs to find a way to the promised land. But I understand wanting to keep the prospect line flowing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'm not sure you understand the situation. This is worth more than Taylor Hall. Blake is NOT Hall.</div></div>
I should explain myself better, from a value perspective it is an overpay plain and simple. But for a team like tampa value is a tricky thing to pin down, this is a team that needs to win with this core or it would be on the top 3 "teams that should have won" I think Coleman helps you do that. Also im just trying to point out to Tampa fans that they are gonna like what Coleman brings. With Hall I think there were some extenuating circumstances, First off he was a rental, second I think something happened in Jersey because they were in a mad rush to trade him. Anyway all that is why I said what I said. TLDR it's bad value but Coleman is a nice player who gives you more than the stat sheet indicates.

I'm telling ya man, I understand you probably haven't watched alot of Coleman so it seems rough, He is way more than whats on the stat sheet (21 goals is good tho =P). The Lightning need to get over the hump and he is just so good in any situation, 5v5, pk, even on the power play. He is constantly making smart plays with the puck. He was the only Devils forward who has played above expectation on a very very poor Devils team. You can slot him up and down the lineup and you get him for a year and a half. From a value perspective I understand your trepidation, but I promise you are getting a good player. Way more than just a bottom 6 grinder,

Hi guys Devils fan here, Tampa fans will love Coleman the guy just does so many good things on the ice, this trade is surprising yes but if you watch Coleman enough it makes sense. On a bad Jersey team he constantly keeps unlocking more and he is tough as nails, good trade for all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McGruff</b></div><div>Hey Pat, you have a good point. Can't say for sure but it might come down to the following:
* Entry-level politics and not wanting to burn a year of FA on Lauzon?
* Cliffy seems to have regressed yeah but he was good late last year, so when healthy, I think Butch might want to see that again?
* Lately, I think Moore has been a bit better and his recent minutes may be as a showcase for trade or as a trade piece?
Cheers</div></div>
I think you hit the nail on the head with all those points, it's definitely a combo of all that, plus the fact that Moore was injured earlier in the year and is a vet so they probably want to give him a fair shake. Problem is I don't think Moore's contract is movable without stapling a asset to it. Maybe your right and by playing him some team is gonna take a shot on him, but if that doesn't come to pass eventually you have to find a way to massage Lauzon into the lineup.

Fair enough, I completely understand wanting a guy to earn his way in, the only issue i have is I think he has higher upside and has been playing better than many of the guys they are running out there. Namely Moore and Clifton (Not that those guys have been bad).

Good trade for LAK, good asset management. It is certainly not bad for TOR, however alot depends on how reachable that condition is, 2 thirds feels like a lot. But Campbell has shown he can get hot so maybe they catch lightning in a bottle, Moore is a decent get for LAK tho.

(NSH/MTL) - Dauphin for McCarron
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>Michael McCarron - was never going to be anything more than a bottom 6 forward. When he was drafted, he was slated as a major reclamation project. He chose to go to the CHL, which was the biggest mistake of his life. Still capable of being a 13th forward.
Jacob De La Rose - Was a great, great player in Europe, his defensive skills transitioned, but his offensive game never translated, I don't know what happened here. He's still a good 4th line PKer.
Zach Fucale - We all know Goalies are a mystery, but he was wicked on that Halifax Moosehead team and is still showing signs of his skill. He was a bust though.
Artturi Lehkonen - Steal of a pick. Pure defensive player that is on pace this year for over 40 points. Gives it his all every shift.
Connor Crisp - The only guy we drafted who never had any hype, never showed any real signs of being an NHL player.
Sven Andrighetto - Very capable middle six winger. For a 3rd round pick, that's a great pick.
Martin Reway - Very unfortunate what happened to him. Was showing signs of being a very good NHL player before heart problems were found. Just **** luck here really.
Jeremy Gregoire - 6th round pick so was never expecting much, still showed some signs of skill in Junior, just couldn't develop him.
3/8 drafted players being full time NHLers is a great job considering just how weak this draft was. There's still time for more of those players to become NHL players. I wouldn't call this draft a loss.</div></div>
This was a nice break down, but surly you don't think this draft was weak? 2013 was loaded!
