Realistic 2021-2022 Oilers
That 4th line is very bad. You can’t have small average skilled guys as your 4th line they will get ran out of the building every time. Ennis was scratched almost have the season and kahun wasn’t reliable defensively or much offensively you need a 4th line that has a combination of size speed and grit they aren’t out there to score goals there out there to control possession and grind teams down.

My suspicions with Holland
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Oleksiak is 7 feet tall and nothing else. Whichever team signs him is going to regret him.
That said, if my acknowledging that results in him being an Oiler, it's not my fault :grimace</div></div>
He was coveted at the trade deadline he’s fairly quick for a big fella and plays mean also put up decent points if you sign him for 3mil or under I wouldn’t mind

Well guess what we got the cap space to pay for one of those guys I’d rather give one of those guys 6-6.5 than pay Tatar 5.1
Tatar is not a better 2 way player than Coleman or Schwartz, saad yes but saad is more of a pure scorer than Tatar

My suspicions with Holland
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>I think most of this is more of an issue of Holland not being able to help himself. Stylistically, I don't think Tatar will be a fit with McDavid but Holland has both a bias towards former Red Wings AND pressure to add another top-six winger. It's a very unfortunate collision in this regard. I suspect Coleman eventually gets the bump up to McDavid's wing or Holloway will.
I disagree regarding Jones to an extent: I think it's telling about how Tippett misused his roster in the playoffs for sure. He ran Jones-Larsson a lot in the regular season and I think there'll be some credit earned by Jones from both the coach and GM that he'll take another step this year. They can't trade everyone and Jones still represents a value contract (even if he's only a third-pairing defender, he's sub-$1M).
Given the obvious mistake in not bringing Benson and/or Marody up this year to give Tippett some more useful options in his bottom-six, I don't think either Holland or Tippett will hesitate to play both Holloway and McLeod, and I don't think keeping them together will be an issue. Both kids are defensively responsible and Coleman is no slouch in his own end. Likewise, the organization thinks that Kassian is a bonafide #3RW: they'll think having him on the 4th line constitutes as depth. Tippett likes Archibald and Holland likes Glendenning. I think that's a very possible 4th line for us next year.</div></div>
I 100% agree with you I don’t think Holland can help him self and I’m sure you are right that he will bring Tatar and glendening but that would be a mistake in my opinion they aren’t what this team needs if your gonna get a 4th line Centre try and get a guy like getzlaf. But I have to disagree with you on the Jones thing you are correct he played a lot with Larsson but he wasn’t the Jones of 2 years ago this year he was a defensive liability he could make outlet pass got caught in his end far to much I’d rather see a big body there like oleskiak to have shut down pair of him and Larsson.

Next year is the year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tik093</b></div><div>1) I watched a lot of Leafs games this year and he's such an effective player - if I had to choose between him and RNH I'd choose him. And the perfect fit for McD. Price here factors in that we would need to pay $1.5M> what Torontos max will be which id presume is $5.5M. Remember, Gallagher got $6.5M in late 2020 as well.
2) 4th lines average ~12 minutes a night, less in playoffs. Glendenning or a mix of players from L3 could balance things out if need be.
3) If I could change anything probably not Korpisalo here, need to look into goalie stats more.</div></div>
I’m not disagreeing with you that Hyman is good but he’s not 7mil good with a flat cap he’s he might be 5 to 5.5 mil good flat cap but even that’s pushing it he is another guy that can play up and down your top 9. 7 mil is great defensively and score 30 + goals that’s not Hyman. And on your 4th line I understand how much time they play but 12 minutes with the wrong guys will break your game your telling me you’d play your 4th line against Winnipeg’s or Toronto’s or Washington’s or Boston’s or the islanders? My point is they would get ran out of the building just like what happened this year

Not a fan of getting Tatar to play with mcdavid there is a couple better options. Glendening is our only addition on that 4th line then we are going to have the same problem in the playoffs where your 4th line gets 10 minutes of ice time in a game where it goes to 3ots and Holland also isn’t a fan of rookies jumping right in so I doubt we see two rookies on a line this team needs veterans. And that d got worse Jones wasn’t good enough to play these playoffs but now he’s top 4 and after playoffs I’d be hesitant on driedger. I like the signing of Coleman I’d play him on mcdavids line before Tatar tho

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StonyOil</b></div><div>instead of judging players via hockeydb, you should look at the chances he creates, goal differential relative to teammates etc.</div></div>
There are far better options than Tatar for a lot cheap that score more defend better and are all around better players like Coleman, Saad, landeskog, Hyman, Schwartz. But yea sounds like a plan we should just give Tatar 8.5mil to make sure we secure him such a valuable player...

Oilers 2021 Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChrisPy97</b></div><div>On average that's a third line salary total for a contending team. I also think that you're underrating Archibald - he's been one of Edmonton's only good two-way players recently. I agree though that they have to move on from Kahun</div></div>
Yea but usually on 3 guys your spending that money on just two guys on the 3rd line one is a rookie that doesn’t make more than 900,000 there are far better guys to get in your bottom 6 far cheaper! I’d keep archibald but Kahun and ennis can’t be your 4th line almost every teams 3rd and 4th line would have there way with that line far too small you want your 4th line to have size speed and grit all that line has is archibald.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hemmer</b></div><div>lol what are we gonna do with all the money if we don’t spend it on depth? palmieri, glendening, archi and nuge and kill pks. by paying the 3rd line so much we get 3 really solid lines. the 4th line may be week but it’s a upgrade from this year</div></div>
Spend it on upgrading the top 6 left wings, use it on upgrading the d use it on upgrading the whole bottom 6. How do you figure that, that 4th line is any better a 1st year rookie a centre that’s only positive is winning faceoffs. You need a bottom 6 that you can trust to play against any line and not get run out of the build in the playoffs

Realistic offseason
You realize a flat cap means very few players are getting more money then there previous deal. Nuge isn’t getting 6.8 after his season 5on5 and the playoffs Tatar isn’t getting 5.6mil for 10 goals smith isn’t getting 3 mil for a goalie that will be 40 next year and maybe play 30 games and glendending isn’t getting 1.8 and that bottom 6 will kill us every playoff

Tatar is not the solution on the top line he scored 10 goals this season and is 30 and 5.1 would be a massive over payment as well.

That is a massive over payment for hyman. That’s very expensive 3rd line centre and that 4th line it brutal they’ll get walked all over come playoff time.

5.5 is a bit of an over pay for saad. That 3rd line is very expensive. That 4th line will get walked all over come playoff time and typically you want your bottom 6 to be able to kill penalties the only guy that kills penalties consistently is archibald. Your 3rd d pair would be a big liability as well

You realize you guys just traded away your most complete dman in Merrill for 5th round pick, so getting a 6th round pick and a warm body with a LOW CAP hit with control of for one more season for a guy that’s 4th line Centre on any other team in the league other than maybe Buffalo rather than getting nothing for him and him leave in the off season make sense I guess...

You realize that Ottawa needs to get to the cap floor and are 18mil away from it and also need a couple veterans on the team to help out so yes Neal does have value for Ottawa
