Pretty realistic but I think we'd play Kahun on the wing because, while none are spectacular, we have a lot of depth up the middle

Doubtful this happens. Think the sharks are banking on young guys in the bottom six

You have my approval on this one. Pretty solid roster based on what's left out there in the FA market, Koekkoek and Kahun are good adds imo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>Who do we go with at 3C and 3RW? That's about the only questions left for this team I think with regard to the roster they'll ice next season</div></div>
I think we have the real problem in 1st line RW. 3rw can be filled internally. The top six is the problem. I see Donato as a third liner with Jumbo, and maybe Gregor too. Labanc can play well with Kane-Hertl so we just need someone for Meier-Couture.

Bruins might accept, they probably need to have another deal lined up for a top 6 RW first, but then they would do this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>Thanks! I think this type of roster fits the direction they should aim for. Couture, Meier, and Hertl top line can compete with the best in the league IMO. A decent second line that can hold it's own. The bottom six full of guys that will most likely see reduced 5 on 5 ice time but more time on the PK and in Leivo's case some PP time maybe. The defense is just staggered so that Vlasic, Burns, and Karlsson don't get burned out. The Goaltending is hopefully a tandem that plays an equal split so each stays fresh and can hopefully perform at an above-average level. With all that said this team needs Karlsson to perform at an elite level and the goaltending to improve if they want any thoughts of making the playoff let alone a deep run.</div></div>
This is pretty much the perfect answer haha. I like the idea of moving Couture to Hertl's wing or vice versa as well. They can both play wing and I think consolidating our offensive fire one line wile bolstering our center depth is a good idea. The 2nd line is very solid, and the defense is (in my opinion) pretty much exactly what it needs to be pairing-wise. We definitely need a goalie who can at least split starts so I like Talbot as an option in that respect if he signs for that price. The 3rd line is good too if Leonard has a good training camp and if Leivo can stay healthy. I just wonder how much Eakin actually signs for. Cause he had a pretty bad year, but I think he knows that he probably deserves more than $1.5 million. I almost wonder if Jumbo at 3C for 500k less would be a better deal. I dunno. Just kind of thinking out loud. But anyway yeah let's hope Doug can pull something like this off.

I actually quite like this roster. If you could figure out how to get Danault from MTL instead of Trocheck, that would be even better. It's good as is, but Danault is a better player imo and costs less. One of the better Sharks A-GMs I've seen in awhile to be honest so big props.

Definite yes on the Kase deal from SJ's end but a definite no for me on the Labanc package for Trocheck.
I like the overall idea of pairing up Cooch with Hertl and getting another 2nd line center though.

I mean I think this roster is fine and the trades are probably pretty fine too, but I'd rather keep Jumbo for another year at 1M than sign Haula to be quite honest. And I'm not sure why we'd give up picks for Reimer at 900k retained when we could just sign an FA goalie for 750k-1M more and not pay picks with the money saved from signing Thornton over Haula. Now if you retain 50% on Reimer, that would spark my interest much more.
Overall it's pretty solid though. I don't think Pasichnuk will be ready, but that's a bit trivial.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>Gaudreau really isn't worth more than that package. His playoff numbers have been dismal, his play on a season to season basis has fluctuated as well. A streaky scoring winger who is very one dimensional and labeled as a playoff choker. Value-wise we'll have to see what teams offer but I don't see any team in the top 15 at this draft making a significant offer for him using their top 15 pick.</div></div>
For sure. I don’t know what Gaudreau is worth to the Sharks. I was just taking a piss out of the Karlsson trade. :cheers

If Gaudreau gets moved it starts with San Jose’s 2020 first round pick. Oops!

The Rittich trade maybe, but would prefer a 2nd for him. The Johnny trade not a chance in hell. Ottawa says no as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>This is just another idea in terms of how they can invest in their forward group. Rather than have one guy making 6 mil, if we retain Labanc on a decent deal and gamble on Galch and Anderson it could pay off in a huge way if they excel and at worst they're still good depth pieces who can move around the top-9. I moved Simek because I think that 2 mil can be used on adding a bit more depth (in this case I thought Reider and Soucy) as well as freeing up a top 4 role for Ferraro (who I really want to see next to a healthy Karlsson). Also I was actually looking at Gregor's advanced stats and he was actually very solid. He projects to be a top 9 forward and is probably one of the best players on the roster in terms of his conditioning and skating. He will turn some heads if he plays more minutes next year, the only thing we need to see improve is his finishing ability but that comes with more ice time and playing higher up in the lineup, if anyone is ready to step up and fill in a spot on an elc it's him, I really believe in him! Thanks for the feedback, love having a respectful and open discussion about the team, it's refreshing to see on Armchair LOL.</div></div>
I think Marleau is an easy swap for Rieder. I like the idea of trading from the one spot of surplus in the organization (LHD), but would like to see it in more of a hockey deal (unless the wizard DW can move Vlasic somehow). An idea that I have thrown around in my head that admittedly sounds crazy is the idea of trading Ferraro (hear me out).
With a cap crunch league wide, Ferraro would hold insane value as a young 4/5 D-Man on an ELC for 2 more seasons. Obviously the same reason I want to keep him on the Sharks, but with out lack of high end prospects and picks, Ferraro+Secondary piece instantly helps us land a top 6 forward while also being able to be replaced by Paschniuk (who by all accounts is physically ready for the NHL). I would obviously rather move the Vlasic money and LD-spot and keep Ferraro, but just thinking he is a guy that can actually yield something of substance in a trade and free up the log jam that is the LD spot in the organization.

totally agree with both things <a href="/users/papishark" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@papishark</a> said
Simek definitely has more value to us than 2 mid round picks and it makes more sense to let our young guys play 4th line than sign a FA
don't love Gregor on the 3rd line but having Galchenyuk on the 3rd line is pretty solid so they kind of cancel each other out
overall this is a pretty solid team. we didn't give much up and we definitely could make the playoffs. probably out in the 1st round or 2 though, but hey it's a step in the right direction.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>I mean value-wise it's not that bad. We get a pick and a utility wing that can play anywhere in the top 9 and some picks. For the preds, they add a scoring wing who'll be cheaper than the guys departing for them in FA. Maybe take the 3rd out but value wise I think it works out. I think Labanc would be a great fit because he's a powerplay guy as well and being a competent playmaking winger alongside duchene at 3.5 mil is pretty great imo.</div></div>
I mean I think that Labanc’s ceiling is definitely higher than Jarnkrok’s (and he’s younger) but Jarnkrok’s contract is pretty unreal. 2 mill for 3 more years? Yes please. Add that to the fact that he’s a good 2-way 30-40 point player with a good shot and you’re looking at a pretty valuable player. I think you’re underrating him a bit, but even with the 3rd taken out, the Sharks gladly accept.

Who is this guy we signed out of KHL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJ11</b></div><div>He's a young Russian goaltending prospect, a bit undersized but athletic. He'll need a year in the AHL by the looks of it but considering the lack of depth in the sharks goaltending depth chart he should secure some solid playtime in the AHL while working with Nabakov. Should he adapt to the North American game he could have 1B potential maybe even full-time starter potential, depends on his development over the next year though. Great signing for the sharks' low-risk high-reward gamble</div></div>
Since when is 6’1” undersized? With I’m stoked on this signing Nabby is probably the sole reason we got the kid! I see starter potential from this kid! More than with any of our other prospects
