<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>I’ve never disliked Meier, but his production as a Devil while playing alongside great players is worrisome. I’m not saying that he won’t bounce back in some capacity, he’s a good player, but could his lack of production just be because he doesn’t have the reins on a bad team like he did in SJ? Similar situation that got Karlsson 100 points. Speaking of which, Karlsson has been much better for us than most of the fan base gives him credit for. His analytics have been very solid offensively. While I think PIT will probably have to add a big name scorer if Guentzel is dealt, they would be able to do so without moving Karlsson.
Personally, I’d much rather take a shot on Laine. Sid would unquestionably bring the best out of him. I could definitely see 40+ goals from him if he’s getting fed by Sid. His 2 years left on his contract is far less of a risk as well.</div></div>
Laine?!?! dude, what are you smoking?

And the fact you have to add your opinion about Kakko not living up to expectations shows your immaturity. Maybe because of how your team is doing? I don't know, but either way, it is meaningless.</div></div>
I have quite a few friends who are Ranger fans as I actually live in the NY area and they all agree that 3C is the main need, and I actually do know what I'm taking about. Again, you're being weirdly defensive because I offered a true opinion on a player. If you think offering real opinions on players is immature then clearly you're very young and immature yourself. If you can't handle real criticism you should get off this board.
The Pens being crap right now has no bearing on how I view other teams or players. Unlike you, I don't take this stuff personally and let it cloud my vision. Again, calm down.

Pens are not moving Pettersson unless we're in the same situation we are now come the deadline next year and if we did, we're certainly gonna get a better deal than that elsewhere.

If you think PIT fans have been frustrated with Rakell’s down year, imagine how frustrated they’d be with Meier putting up the same production while making $3.8 million more.</div></div>
Personally I'd consider this deal. I think Meier just isn't fitting with NJ. A player like that doesn't just hit the wall as hard as he did at 27 years old. It's clearly a system thing. He's also been battling injury issues.

I bring this up a lot to people. For the Pens, we experienced this with Gonchar and Paul Martin. Both of their first years they came in being proven dmen and had really bad first seasons and then went on to be great for us.

I truly don't think the Pens will have to pay to move Graves. Now, I'm not saying they'll get anything significant for him, but there are teams who absolutely recognize he's a good player not fitting in. Plus, our defense isn't much of an issue. We're not desperate to do this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cornbreadnhl</b></div><div>Your opinion of Kakko is irrelevant. The Rangers are happy with him and he helps, not hurts the team, especially at his cost, so his draft position is meaningless. You feel better about yourself badmouthing hockey players, that's your issue, I could care less what you think about Ranger players. And the Rangers biggest need is absolutely a RW for Mika's line asap. Brodzinski has done a good job at 3C for now and Chytil is more than likely returning next season, so the 3C issue isn't as concerning at the moment. Upgrading from Brodzinski would be fine, but a RW for Mika's line is issue #1.</div></div>
You're an odd duck. Me simply offering an unbiased opinion on a player and you're getting weirdly defensive. I said Kakko is a bust in the respect that he hasn't lived up to what his expectations were. I'm not sure how that's badmouthing and I'm correct. He hasn't lived up to what he was supposed to be. I also, in a positive way, recognized his great defensive game. You need to calm down.
And everything else you said was wrong. 3C is your main need, not a RW for Mika. One of the biggest things that separates teams in the playoffs is quality depth and right now your depth isn't bad per-se, but you need more production there if you're gonna go deep in the playoffs. If you had Chytil then yes, the RW would be the biggest need, but you don't and it's not. 3C is your main need.

A major reason that Vatrano’s stat line looks as good as it does is because he gets a ton of minutes in all situations due to the Ducks being bad. Another reason is because he got 11 goals in 14 games to start the season.
Just because Kakko hasn’t lived up to the expectations of a 2nd overall doesn’t mean the Rangers should trade him.</div></div>
LOLOLOL Isn't much more than a productive Kakko? What a weird comment to make. Like hey, player A isn't anything more than player B other than the fact he actually scores. Who wants that? No Rangers fans apparently. Who needs players who score?!? LOL

All the bust nonsense is irrelevant at this point, he is a young solid all around RW that is still improving and doesn't cost that much, he's not going anywhere.</div></div>
The rangers biggest need is clearly an upgrade at 3C, but I do expect them to go after a middle-six winger, too. Kakko is 100% a bust in terms of what his expectation was. He's got a great two-way game, but his production is just mediocre AF and that's being kind.

Vegas actually has some solid prospects like Brisson along with some decent young players like Dorofeyev. A 1st, Brisson and Dorofeyev might be the type of deal that gets it done.

Regardless, the Pens would never make a deal like that and retain $2M for four more years. So no, while he hasn't fit, he wasn't been THAT bad.
The only thing that's bad is most of these trades. None of this makes any sense. Why move half the team on the way to rebuild only to trade for Chychurn? This team would be a disaster.

Here's why I think ANA shouldn't do a deal like this... McTavish. This team has a bevy of young developing players, so slated to be top NHL talent.
To me what happens here is you get Pettersson to accelerate the rebuild and you in essence almost waste some years of him being here because you're still waiting on everyone else to develop, so then you have to go out and start spending money you don't need to surround them with more vets.
Ducks should stay the course.

And Connor Brown is just a cap relief for Edmonton.</div></div>
Halloway is really still a prospect. I know he's played like 20 something games this year, but he'd still fall in that prospect field. I honestly just don't think EDM has the pieces Dubas would want when you look at other teams likely to get involved.

That deal is not netting anyone Jake. It's not a BAD deal, but it's not the type of deal Dubas is looking for which has been made fairly public. He's looking for a 1st, top prospect and a young roster player. The deal is close, but they have no need for Connor Brown. They'd probably want McLeod.

You've said many things I've disagreed with, but you are so way off base here it's not even funny. You really have a hard time ever admitting you're wrong in a discussion or even conceding that you may be wrong. We've been down this road a few times. If you can't possibly grasp the concept that players are sometimes simply bad fits on certain teams then I don't know what to tell you. Meier is an exceptional hockey player who clearly just isn't fitting on the devils. It happens.

Verhage has been producing at a similar rate to Tkachuck, first off and signed for this year and next at half his cost.
Lundell is an EXCELLENT prospect who's only 22 and getting better. He looks like he'll probably wind up being a solid 50/60 point guy with a very good two-way game, not to mention you'd probably still be able to extend him on a reasonable contract.
Knight may be having some personal stuff going on, but at 22 years old which is still young for a goalie, has all the workings of a top starter in this league.
You'd have to be INSANE not to take this deal.

He's not wasting it. The biggest issue this team has faced are some normally consistent players, i.e. Smith and Rakell having off-years and the PP not clicking. If Smith and Rakell simply produced at their normal rate of production and the PP was league average the Pens are likely in 2nd or 3rd place. There are things that are unfortunately out of a GM's control no matter how good they are.
Even with Graves not being a good fit and EK not clicking on the PP, the Pens defense is actually league average or better on most defensive categories. Things are fixable/tweakable and don't need extreme measures like this.
EDIT: Karlsson is on pace to put up between 60 and 70 points, and that's without what would normally be a good 10 to 20 point bump from PP points. Let that sink in. He's fine.
