But they’d also have to figure out some sort of replacement for Miller
I think the Leafs would have to include McCabe in the deal,
and maybe get back a 1st instead of a 2nd or an additional pick or some other upgrade coming Toronto’s way
Interesting idea
But it’s tough to see this happening
I gotta think they could’ve traded Nylander for something like this as well, so making this trade would essentially be them choosing Nylander over Marner- and that doesn’t make much sense to me</div></div>
I would be open to including McCabe for sure in the trade. And instead of a 2nd for the rangers it's a first. I think Willy signing actually makes it more possible they're not going to resign Marner.

Literally I haven't seen anything about Holl to NJ and NJ needs a lot of players lol a top 5-6 dman who can play in the top 4 in a pinch? You understand a 4th round pick is a bargain right? He's a really good PKer and he's only making 2 mil for a year. If NJ wants to be competitive, they could use an actual defensive d man

Are you really asking me how I would know someone would waive their no trade? Lol I'm not the player, it's a hypothetical trade don't read too much into it. His cap hit is 5.5 whatever but in actual salary it's much less over the next two years. If other teams are not interested in a top 4 dman who granted has injury concerns but is still really good and who's getting paid less actual dollars, they shouldn't be the gm. Players of Muzzin's calibre don't grow on trees.

Muzzin is a top 4 dman making little to no money over the next two years. New York Islanders love their Vets and they need some left shooting defensemen. It's a fair trade.

Miller is such an impractical and really unnecessary addition.</div></div>
When you add a player of JT miller's calibre, it's never an unnecessary addition. Plus if one of the big guys goes down, they need another stud. I think he's a 1st liner in the NHL and the extra year is great as well. They can fit everyone next year. RFA's of note are really Kase, Engvall and Sandin and none of them should cost too much. Goaltending is probably the biggest question mark.

Guys, Mrazek is a career .910 save percentage and he has a history of being a good tandem goalie. 3.8 million is reasonable for a tandem goalie. Because he's not playing well now doesn't mean he doesn't have a track record of playing well. If you view the UFA market, it's slim pickings and teams are gonna pay top dollar for marginal goaltending. At least there is certainty here and again... going to the Hawks with all the crap going on AND they're bad? C'mon, no decent goaltender is gonna sign there. And they're probably gonna sell at the deadline so they're only gonna get worse.

FA signings make sense if the market is dry. They can build their value with the leafs. Korpi is having a bad year, Nino is having a good year but not sure he'll get more than a 2 or 3 year offer. Janrok same thing but on a lesser scale, plus a pay raise. Gio is a hometown guy, he may not want to but if he wants to come to Toronto he can. Also Muzzin is a proven top 4 defenseman. If Anaheim loses either manson or lindholm it's a good replacement. Steel isn't proven much more than 3/4th liner at this moment. He's 24, he's pretty much gonna stay that way. It's not a cap dump per say, it's mutually beneficial for both teams.

I am a leafs and true fan? The leafs can add another B or C level prospect Id be open to that, but the canucks get a 1st, 2nd (similar value statistcally cause it will be in the late 20s) Roni which is a B level prospect, and Kerfy who is a middle six guy on a good deal. You could keep him, he's a hometown guy or trade and get another 2nd. This is a more than fair deal, the canucks are average at best. They're not gonna resign Miller next year so trade him now for lots of value. Like I said I'd be willing to add another decent piece but you're WAY overvaluing both the player and where the canucks is at currently.

I think Robertson is better but I think he's better suited for the Marlies for now. Semeynov is TBD in the NHL at this time so I think the benefit of the doubt goes to Simmonds. Gusev and Ho-Sang I like but I think they'll just be able to keep Ho-Sang. The only way Goose makes sense for the leafs is if he signs for a league min contract and I don't think he does that. Otherwise I agree with you. I understand wanting his presence around for leadership and he's a tough player to play against. I like him, and I think he could be valuable on the PP
