So you want Hart do you
An interesting comparison for MTL fans:
Hart 6'2" Age 24
- Career 201 GP, -13.86 GSAx per evolving hockey.
- Last season 55 GP, 12.93 GSAx.
Montembault 6'3" Age 26
- Career 103 GP, -10.54 GSAx per evolving hockey.
- Last season 40 GP, 16.78 GSAx.
Monty is a late bloomer but it's probably worth seeing what he can do next year as a starter with Allen as the backup before pursuing a goaltender.

(this is the only issue and its minor) Gotta get Xhekaj on the bottom pair tho, as much as analytics are important, his intangibles are actually huge for the team, he'll never back down from anyone, and will make players think twice.</div></div>
I agree I love what Xhekaj brings to this lineup. My thinking to start the season is to start Harris in the majority of games, but in the more tough Philly style games put Wifi in. Or, they could even play Harris on the right side, he played there for a lot of college and is comfortable in the position. But, I absolutely loved Kovacevic's play last year. One thing we do know though is that the 6 I have in right now won't all be available for long (injuries) and I don't think any of the 7 will have to worry about a lack of games.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>Again, those metrics arent be all end all. They are extremely volatile.

</div>
This is extreme improvement from Josh on a tanking club^^ 90% offense for a niche player is very valuable. You have to know how to read the metrics as well before coming to biased conclusions.</div></div>
That in and of itself isn't exactly the problem. The Penguins <em>have</em> offense. I'm not trying to say that Anderson isn't good at that. But I don't think he's good enough at anything else to be worth either a 1st or the contract he's on. I'm honestly surprised the PK percentile is as high as it is, so bonus points for him, but it's not enough.
(Also want to add with the 90% offense on a tanking club line that some discourse around Erik Karlsson's season is that being on the Sharks meant he would be able to get away with sacrificing defense for the sake of offense. Is that happening here? I don't know, but his Offense percentile hasn't been that high in previous years, from what I can tell.)
According to MoneyPuck, the Pens were the 3rd best team in xGoals for this season, and 17th in xGA. The Pens also struggled to finish, having the worst GSAx in the league, and a middle of the pack finisher like Anderson could help, but that's like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. Simply, Anderson isn't an improvement where an improvement is needed most.
And since you posted the Microstats card, that in and of itself isn't helping your case. The microstats show that Anderson is pretty good at getting scoring chances, especially off the rush. But other than that, he's kinda one-dimensional, and I'm not a fan of that.

You are a smart man, people don't understand what he brings to the team, he terrified the leafs defence in the first round, they were terrified of him forcheking. Not just guys like Dermott, vetrans like Brodie were aswell. He is incredibly clutch.

Hes young. If it wasnt for factors such as the pandemic and the bigger known fact that power forwards take longer to mature. He has never had a top6 consistent role and without PP time.
I'll talk your language with false equivalencies if youre going to bring up Zach Parise. Jack Hughes also has 1 season over 56 points in 4 seasons. That make him less than the 99 point player this season? That is your narrative congrats.

You must have slept through the game 1s. These power forwards make all the difference. And, teams will pay for him despite the troll narrative here. The hate is simply nonsensical. But again, he's beloved in Mtl by management and other managers around the league. Everyone that slanders Josh simply shows how irrational they are as a fanatic.

I actually don't think he'll be an odd man out thought, hes really good and I think hes good enough to play RD as a bottom pair down the line. This is my future top 6:
Guhle - Barron
Hutson - Mailloux
Xhekaj - Harris
As of right now, I don't see Engstrom, Struble or Trudeau achieving the same level as Harris (Engstrom is the most likely)
This would be after Matheson and Savard contracts are both expired / traded cause the young guys are ready.</div></div>
Everyone is taking it for granted that Mailloux makes the NHL. A lot of amateur scouts who follow the Habs say he struggles with making smart decisions when put under pressure. He's loaded with skill but does not have great "hockey sense". The last 1st round pick defensemen we had who scored in bunches in junior who was described that way: Nate The Gr8 (Beaulieu).
Mailloux still has a lot of time to figure this out and I hope he can, but the ability to score from the blue line does not trump being able to read and react at NHL speed.

Be like the legion of doom line.... and you play evans (assuming dvorak went in the dubois trade) with Gally and HLP and your fourth line is Pezzetta, Beck or Belzile and ylonen.. And that leaves Kidney Heinemann, Roy and Farrell in laval to make a great team there.

What is Andersons value with 50 percent retention
Just a copy/pastefrom another AGM:
Anderson: a 1st
12M+ retained: 2x1st
Total: 3x1st
In the real world, the price for Hagel was 2x1st.
In the real world, Toronto paid a high 1st to Carolina so they would pay his $6M capdump.
If you want to discuss how in the lalaland in your head Anderson iSnT wOrTh AnYtHiNg, go ahead and make a fool of yourself.
In reality, Hugues publicly stated he doesn't want to retain salary and will gladly keep Anderson if they don't get a 1st + un return. Your opinion doesn't matter.

Kidneys value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MarcBergevin69</b></div><div>I appreciate the effort put into this explanation.
However, I don't see kidney ever cracking the habs roster as it stands right now. Unless he goes on a tear next season in Laval and shows that his game does infact translates effortlessly to pro (highly unlikely for a 20 year old), he doesn't really project as a top 6 nhler. We've got so many options in the system already that will push him down the lineup unless his progression takes another step.
I would definitely throw him in to a trade as a "B level" prospect.</div></div>
I agree and you're right, what it boils down to is timing and lack of system space.
Though i was just saying he's a Darkhorse and if he continues to overachieve he might edge out Beck , but its a lot of hoping and wishing.
Reality is with Beck and Dach arriving he's odd man out 9/10 unless he has a Suzuki like Memorial Cup run jumping straight to the NHL
Or a trade takes Beck away for a player that isnt a Center replacing him (i know a lot of mock deals on here have him linked to PLD)
I dont envry being MTL's GM right now
No matter what by Jun.1st/2023 he'll have a lot of rough decisions to make about who stays and who goes.
14 Qualifying offers are due the next 2 years with many playing great hockey and many will have to go.
There's even a chance the #6 WHL scorer and leader of the most stacked WHL team in which he's the #1 Center as a 5th rounder on a team flooded with 1st and 2nd rounders.
Still Contractually signing him means letting another player go unsigned or just outright releasing them.
What the NHL needs is an AHL equivelant in Europe or to elevate the ECHL to a rival conference like AFC vs NFC in the NFL.
It would double the amount of players you could develop and by adding 10 more contracts to the NHL's league maximum it could be done easily.
This would mean a trade block out of conferences though to keep NHL teams duel Affiliations in in both leagues above board with no chance of collusion.
Off Season trades would be allowed but a free during the season.
We just need a way to develop players more profeciently in regards to their skill sets.
Ofcouse like Belzile's showing now learning to play every role /line has its upsides
But in Contract we have others failing because they cant adjust to a 4th line role after a lifetime of playing top 6.
I put forth having Mysak on another team facing AHL quality players would have been better for his development as he was injured not long after added to 4th line his rookie year.
Right now thats the risk Kidney runs if he cant make the jump from QMJHL to OHL as in our AHL system he wont be given 1st line as its a Defense First system as Stephens learned demoted from 1st to 3rd for a ECHL call up made good who became the #1 Center undisputed . With 2 systems we could progress our Offensive an Defensive Prospects in rival systems while keeping our goalies sharp.
NHL would benefit and there's a lot less likelihood European players struggle with the Transition as there's twice as many chances they'll line in beside someone who can help them or speaks their language to help them keep up in real time to the busy North American lifestyles. NHL is too deep now all the way to the AHL not to have 2 teams close for development on the AHL's level .

I wouldn’t accept a 1st, Brisson and Cormier deal from Vegas, certainly not a must accept like stated in the trade.
The others are good but certainly the ceiling of what I see Meier getting. Carolina must have is Morrow, Buffalo must have is Kulich, and to me devils must have is Hughes or Nemec but we all know what their fans will say about that</div></div>
You can’t be serious on Hughes or Nemec.
That’s never gonna happen: but if Grier somehow swings that I’ll eat it. But I’d put a large portion of money down Muk/Holtz is the Devils top offer.

I think he's a classic example of a past his prime guy being asked to do too much. He's not 29 anymore and it shows. However, in a reduced role vs lesser quality of competition and he could very well be a big impact. He's certainly not getting any easy minutes in St Louis this year. He won't have to do that all the time in TO. He may get some easier matchups and may slide up when the team needs more offence. I think he could be a Gio-esq pickup. Just the perfect fit.
