It would take a bigger man than me to accept that much less on what you paid for a player just a little over a year ago, especially when the player actively wants to stay on your team. I’d pass.

lol. I wouldn't say Bertuzzi sucks, but I don't see how he fits this team..... and honestly; which Bertuzzi are you signing for $5 million? The guy who crapped the bed for the 1st half, or the Bertuzzi that looks like he discovered he is playing for a contract?
IF I were going to dive into the UFA market on the wing (which is just the weirdest place for the Wild.to invest); Bertuzzi just doesn't move the needle enough.

Somehow everyone makes a big deal out of him not playing in the nhl but for a guy like edvinson in detroit somehow its chill.</div></div>
It’s not media or fans making a big deal outta him being yo-yo’d up and down - Jiricek himself made a big deal outta it. He believes he should be getting more ice time in the NHL, specifically on the PP where he’s not getting any ice time.
Sure the odds are in favour of him likely being on the team next year, but a deal wouldn’t be as surprising as some people think either

There's a lot of domines that would need to fall in order for a trade like this to happen.
1. The Jackets think Jiricek's development is botched, or he's extremely unhappy (unlikely)
2. The Jackets think Rossi is a long-term upgrade on Sillinger, and can slot into the 2C Role where Silly becomes the long term 3C (possible)
3. Voronkov and Jenner go to the wing (likely)
4. The Jackets pick in the top 4 this year and select Levshunov, since Jiricek is the only RD in the system with top-pair potential, he wouldn't be available until another is in the system. (Unlikely, IMO).
5. Columbus is fine with taking another year to rebuild/retool since Levshunov isn't going to be NHL ready and Severson/Gudbranson/Boqvist aren't a top-pair defenseman. (unlikely management sees it that way)
Literally all of that would need to happen before this trade makes sense, otherwise we just keep Jiricek who's NHL-ready now. I'm not saying it's impossible, and I think there could be legs to the rumor, but a lot would need to fall into place first.

You also don’t piss off said top 6 pick and bounce home around the way Columbus has.
I get that Jackets fans may not want him dealt, but if he continues to be unhappy with how he’s treated by management then it’s a possibility he gets dealt

Considering he's yet to give up a 1st, no. You can just sign some aging veteran UFAs if you're wanting to box out your youth and save yourself the draft captial. :tonguewink

Agreed. The trade just recreates the problem they have now where in the next couple years, players like Ohgren and Yurov are going to need roster spots and they're loaded with veterans occupying those spots. Giving up a 1st round pick for a rental is dumb if you're not a legit Cup contender and extending them would be short sighted IMO.

Spurgeon is too old, too small & too beat up for us to have interest
He’s still a decent player
But his Cap hit & skill set aren’t really a fit for what we are looking for either
Plus I’m sure we won’t wanna move those prospects

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>I would demand Savoie or Kulich instead of Rosen.</div></div>
That's a fair point. Article on the athletic was saying that the rochester (Sabres ahl) coach is prioritizing a middle 6 skill set for kulich and rosen. So he's stressing defense, pk, faceoffs, all in addition to offense. I guess Rosen is still ahead of kulich as far as overall game. Rosen is 5'11" and I think up to 175, so he's not the waif that we drafted. The Sabres have a bad reputation for developing players, but I will say that I heard they were prioritizing rest and weight training for the smaller prospects, in order to build them up for the pro game. Still, I get it, Rosens numbers don't jump off the page for a guy that is undersized, so I can see wanting to take either a thicker shooter in kulich, or a more dynamic savoie. Not sure kulich or savoie are centers in the NHL, if that was a thought.

Los Angeles isn't interested in either lame duck veteran. We'd rather spend $2.5 million to re-sign Lizotte and run one roster slot short than spend $2.775 million on those guys.

The bird in the hand is worth more than the bird in the bush.
That being said, if for some reason the scouting staff are high on Zayne Parekh or Carter Yakemchuk at that spot, maybe. I just think that a center taken four drafts ago is worth more than an A prospect RhD, but maybe people are concerned about Rossi's size. And the Wild's pick is going to be 13 - 16, so moving up might be a better strategy, especially with a team that has a lousy prospect pool and holes in the dance card.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>So you would rather keep a bottom 6 forward who’s one of the worst contracts in the league and is a major cap dump rather than trade him and a 3rd round pick for a bonafide top 4 dman who instantly becomes your best dman? That deal favours Montreal by an insane amount. Even if you don’t want Brodin because of how many LHD you have you can easily flip him for a much bigger return. Minnesota would block your number</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Congrats!! That Brodin trade is the worst trade I’ve seen here in months!</div></div>

Brodin has 33% more points in 20% fewer games than Anderson, and he's better defensively than any Habs blueliner including Matheson.</div></div>
The problem isn't his contract or capabilities, the biggest issue is he isn't healthy and may never be the same after his recovery.
I don't think Momtreal would or should be making a move for Brodin since we are overflowing with LHD and prospects but the trade definitely favours the Habs by quite a bit.

Rinzel
RHD is by far the thinest part of the Hawks prospect pool with Rinzel the only guy of note at this point that has any chance of more than a bottom pair filler. Barring the Hawks diving into the UFA market for a guy like Pesce or Montour and even then probably having to take a RHD with their own 1st, I don't see any reason the Hawks would give up on Rinzel as his development has been exactly what you hoped for when they took a bit of a flier on his raw skill package 2 drafts ago. At a minimum, there would need to be something WAY more compelling than another pick in the middle of the first which at this point kicks the can down the road 2 years further from getting a guy that can help in the NHL which at some point is the reason you start a rebuild. The conversation would need to start with that 1st & Spacek and again that probably only gets listened to if they have taken Levshunov at 2,3, or 4 if they don't luck into Celebrini.
