No. Players don’t care about that stuff as much as ppl think. They either follow the money or go to the good teams. If the Sabres build the team properly and are winning, no one will care about Jack eichel’s situation anymore.
Also, UFAs are fools gold anyway. They’re always overpaid and put your team in cap trouble. Good teams are built in the draft

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hobo</b></div><div>Perhaps an elite option is what the Sabres are looking for, however there is no progress on any trades as the teams aren't willing to pay the asking price the Sabres want. Right now the reality is UFA and draft are basically done and Eichel is still a Sabre (who doesn't want to be and his agent has already started scorching the Sabres brass about the lack of progress). Not to mention Eichel still needs to get through physicals with his neck injury for any team that takes him. Eichel is a legit great player, however it appears teams aren't interested in moving the assets the Sabres want because of the cap hit, the neck injury and right now they view that evaluation as too high a price to pay.
Its going to be fun to watch how this all plays out.</div></div>
His value seems to be as low as it could get, so it makes no sense to trade him now. Might as well get him back on the ice and show he’s healthy

If Eichle isn't playing and then gets to choose where he goes then ya, he likely just says no to every trade until it's where he wants to go, it's a pretty big handicap to Buffalos management whether you want to believe it or not.</div></div>
No. Hall HAD to go because he was a pending UFA. You DO NOT have to trade Eichel. He can’t leave in 1yr. Eichel has very little power in this situation. Eichel can say no all he wants. His only option then is to stay in Buffalo. Stop putting yourself in a place of desperation. You will always lose. You need to take the mindset that YOU are in control and do NOT have to make a move if you don’t want to. Those are facts.

He will likely pull a Taylor Hall and force a trade to the exact team he wants and they will give Buffalo a measly return because Buffalo is forced to either pay a guy 10 million not to play or take whatever the other team is offering.</div></div>
Wrong. Hall was a UFA. It was trade him or lose him. JE is under control. The NMC doesn’t matter. It’s not as big a deal as ppl think. It’s an obstacle, but nothing tragic. If you present Eichel with the option of say Minnesota or staying in Buffalo, is he gonna say no?

Stop operating out of fear. Free agents? Tell me, who is the all time leading free agent scorer for the Sabres? Okposo? Idk, but I guarantee you it’s no one good. Free agency is fools good. It’s overpayment. Also, if the Sabres are good, no one will care what happened with JE in the past. What a lazy narrative to convince yourself you should give away a superstar

Sabres will continue to be a tire fire, and this latest news keeps adding to it. Having an asset that wants out and yeilds a decent return currently is better moved now than held onto and not even playing because buffalo won't let him get the surgery and he won't play without it. Management will just take the L and be out 70M and whatever assets he would've yielded in a trade.</div></div>
JE will play. There are so many options to resolve it, one of which an arbitrator. He’s not gonna miss out on getting paid. Trust me

Free agents are overpaid and is a market you should stay away from anyway. You build from within with draft picks. That said, free agents follow money and good hockey teams. If the Sabres are good in 3-5 years, no one will care what happened in the past.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bloodykisame</b></div><div>He wont play until he receives his surgery which buffalo wont allow. How can you "play" him without him being healthy and proving his value. The longer buffalo holds out the less teams are interested and most of them already backed out after trades/FA. Buffalo claims they are under no pressure but everyone has already come to the conclusion that Buffalo is under extreme pressure to the point i wouldn't be surprised if eichel leaves for the khl if something isnt done. They are not giving him away but they will not capitalize on his value because it will be perpetually stuck at its lowest for some time.</div></div>
Sorry, your stance is wrong. He can leave for Russia if he wants, which everyone knows he doesn’t want to do. This is a tactic that you’re falling for. Ppl say things like “time is running out”, “KHL”, “injury”, “you’ll be stuck with him”, “disgruntled”, etc. as a tactic to drive his price down and make the team feel as though there’s mounting pressure to trade him. There’s not. The Sabres are in control. Period. Always remember that. If you’re not getting good value in return, you don’t have to make a move.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bloodykisame</b></div><div>With the recent reports and how many teams are out on eichel. Adams has lost most if not all his leverage. This deal does seem a bit light as this is really b+ prospect and a B, with 1st and a 2nd. Henrique is a cap dump. But buffalo screwed themselves holding this long and saying eichel is doing good and wont likely need surgery. But the news yesterday really finished off buffalos waiting game.</div></div>
So if his value is down, why would trade him when his value is lowest? This return doesn’t help Buffalo. You don’t give away a superstar. Ever. You hold on to him and let him play if you have to. Prove he’s healthy and then try again. Your approach is completely wrong. You’ve given in and therefore, lost the trade. Remember, you own an elite center in his prime with 5 yrs remaining and literally do not have to trade him. Don’t let them flip the script on you. The Sabres are under little to no pressure to trade him. It’s Eichel’s camp that should be nervous, not Buffalo. They can always bring him back, whether it’s “healthy” for locker room or not doesn’t matter. 90% of the team won’t be around in 2 years anyway.

So, you took less for Eichel AND you threw in Olofsson on top of it? Don’t settle. Adams is right to dig his feet in. The main piece in return needs to be a top end prospect. Comtois is not that.

JE had more points in his rookie season than Laf and Kakko have had in their three seasons combined.
I have 0 interest in a trade w/ the Rangers anyway. They don’t have the right pieces. The main piece should be a center. Wingers are the RBs of the NHL. They’re typically not worth what they’re paid unless it’s a rare talent like OV.

IDK, Adams sounds pretty content on bringing Eichel back if his demands aren’t met. He really has no need to trade him. It’s not ideal to keep him, but they kept Risto for at least two years after he requested a trade.
