If none of them gets traded away, it would be a bad move to take his caphit, including next season, for a position already filled.</div></div>
Drouin/Kapanen swap isn't a terrible concept, we're just at a point where we are better with the empty slot at wing than replacing Drouin with an outside addition.
We need to shed contracts to develop our own forwards.

They terminated Rindells contract, ya. Even if Friedman is above Mete and Hollowell, he'd still be 9th on the depth chart. The contract slot is probably more valuable to the team.

Pens trade Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Friedman is making 775K..lol. And tough as nails and more than capable 6th-7th NHL D-man. Again, Rh shot that plays both RHD and LHD equally well. And still just 26 years old.</div></div>
The salary isn't the issue. The issue is that NHL teams can only carry 50 NHL contracts. The Leafs were right up against the mark until they terminated someones contract recently, now they are sitting at 49/50. it probably wouldn't be an issue except Friedman has next season signed as well so its a problem going forward with him. His path to the NHL is also unlikely in Toronto. Their depth defenseman have all been having great showings with the Leafs long list of IR casualties. Connor Timmins or Jordie Benn have both put a hold on those 7th and 8th defenseman spots. I'm not sure Friedman would slot in over Mete either at the 9th spot and Hollowell looked good in his chance too behind him. Basically Friedman would just be taking up a contract slot. Take Simmonds, he's all yours, give him the NHL opportunity ... just do it for free.

Btw, POJ has been great and a future 1st pairing D-man. He’ll be getting Calder votes this year. Plays in all situations; both the point on the PP and on the PK. Will be playing 22 plus minutes a night in the near future.</div></div>
Looks like he has made the jump and stuck this year. Not a great spot for him in Van. Perfect for Pitt with multiple RFA years in a competitive team.

Definitely not ready to trade Fisher. RD prospects are limited in the org. No interest in DeSmith either. Fish is our best offensive RHD prospect after Merkley and Havelid and has real potential for boom.
Kunin brings more value than Kapanen with his defensive upside and physicality. Nylander is simply not needed and hasn't played NHL hockey in over two years.
Pretty easy pass from SJ

Pens trade Isles
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Lee is 32 and at 7M for 4 more years holds very little value to a contender(cause they would have to move a huge contract in order to fit 7M) and holds no value to rebuilding team.
And Zucker has 7 points in 8 games?? And is 2 years younger.
Zucker’s contract is expiring and at 2.75M does have value for a contender and also to a rebuilding team.
Cause his contract is expiring for a rebuilding team and and most contenders can fit 2.75M without moving a huge contract off their books.
And keep Bode Wilde. He’s 22 in the ECHL. Good luck!!</div></div>
Hey I thought you were the buyer, (and in division). Its just my opinion that Lee is the better, more valuable player (even though older and under contract), but you're the one who wants him in this proposal. I'm just saying NYI fans will not accept that offer.
And I think Wilde is a failed pick, but doubt NYI fans would be the ones looking to add to your proposal.
And its Pens fans always looking to move Zucker, I think PITT is set with their top 8 or so with Zucker.
But good luck

Pens 22-23
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyfan1234</b></div><div>Friedman is only making like 775k. That’s about what Moore would make minimum so he’s not really more expensive lol. And Nylander is a RW. He played RW for the most part in WBS where he went off.
With that being said, I agree with ducks fans that the ducks have no incentive to do this. Even if it was just Moore going the pens way. The pens are sending quantity not quality.
Friedman may be worth a 5th at best, Archibald is worth a 7th at best, Nylander is probably worth a 4th at best.
Nothing right now in that package screams a solid RHD prospect should be the return. The pens really shouldn’t sell Nylander either. They need players like him to hopefully take the next step and give the pens a cheap option that could push out players like Kapanen and Zucker.</div></div>
Yeah, quantity is the problem, we're already short on ice time to figure out what we've got in our system that's NHL caliber for the next year.
We're at the point where we can send a couple of prospects that are still NHL question marks to pick up a guy who is currently boxed out from playing in the organization, but is NHL ready.

I appreciate the level of research and explanation in your post, even as penguins focused as it is.
From the Ducks side though, Moore is going to be our big RHD shutdown guy probably next season when we have a huge gap at RD with Shatty and Klingberg leaving.
Friedman is okay, but I don't know that he's any improvement on what we would get from Moore, and is older and more expensive. Nylander is interesting, but we have a lot of decent LW prospects, what we really need is a knockout 1-2LW guy in McTavish's age range, preferably a speedster who can drive the play and carry the puck.
Archibald would probably get waived by us too, just no roster room for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>I wonder what’s going on with Blueger on the wing like he’s a dangerous shooter or something..lol.
Larsson -Blueger -McGinn would be a sick defensive 4th line.
And if they keep the roster like this and just sign RFA Kappy then I hope Puustinen gets a shot on Geno’s LW; or OConnor, or Poulin.
I don’t want to see Zucker with Geno again. Zucker -Carter -Kappy is a good 3rd line. They should stay together.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>JT Miller is a one year rental. Throw away the Pens Future for a one year rental. Kappy, Poulin, POJ and two 2nds. That’s crazy.
Even as good as Miller is and as great of a season he had last year. One year rentals just don’t bring back that kind of return. Unless he comes with an extension.
Let Vancouver keep him till the deadline. He’ll be lucky to bring back a late 1st and a prospect and a mid round pick then.
POJ is a future top pairing LHD. He plays 25 plus minutes a night in the AHL and plays in all situations; PP and PK. He’s 23 years old and NHL ready. And with Marino gone, POJ is the Pens future point on the PP.
Poulin is 6’3, 215 pounds, still just 21 years old; Tkuchuk lite. He’s a very good two-way player too. He’s not just a top 6 or bust. He can start out on the 3rd or 4th line and move his way up if he need be. He won’t have to though. But he could. He’s not like a Puustinen or Nic Robertson though that has to be a top 6 player or he’s a bust.
Poulin’s been a top 100 prospect in the NHL on any list u can find for the last 3 years. Same with POJ. Pens don’t have many good prospects but those two are. Poulin and POJ are A or A-prospects; B+ at worst.
These aren’t just my opinions either. Literally every top prospects list the last 3 years has both of them on it. Scouts, insiders, draft experts, etc.

And Detroit rebuild seems to be just about over. Their signings this offseason proved that. I wouldn’t trust Maatta with 2nd pairing minutes anymore. But ok.
And Chiarot struggled with 1st pairing minutes and a 1st pairing role in Florida.
Larkin, Raymond and Seider seem like pieces to build around. And Hronek, Copp, and Bertuzzi are nice complimentary pieces(unless Bertuzzi gets dealt). With acouple more nice secondary pieces.
And waves of those prospects are gonna be coming through in a year or two.

Personally I would have preferred Petterson over Chariot but that wasn't the choice Stevie Y made. But with that choice made they are committed to it, so one matter how good Petterson is he is no longer a fit in Detroit unless something changes.

The Wings are not going to trade their only legit RD prospect for a LD upgrade now. Not with their depth of LD prospects and need to allow flexibility to tryout some of them in the NHL to see how they do.
