<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>The situation changed

I don't believe this for one second bc look at what Adams did after both Thompson and Cozens had big years he went and signed them long term, Mitts turned the corner last year and he wasn't offered a long term contract...I'll keep saying it, it's the same situation as Reinhart and string him along as long as you can then trade him while the value is there.
Adams also knows he has young players coming up so Mitts was expendable, that's also why he was looking to trade for a veteran center plus moving Krebs up to see if he can handle the 3C role. He also stated this trade started weeks before it came off.
I'm sure the cap came into play also...think about it, pay a premium for a 3rd line center or a top 2 D.
I've been hard on Adams but I'll give him credit where credit is due.
A side note...insiders say Mitts is in trade rumors, when all said Mitts wasn't available I said where there's smoke there's fire, until he signs on the dotted line he can be traded.
I'm not saying I'm smart but the insiders know and hear more than me or us and when that came out you know somethings up.

Don't think it's a matter of helping Colorado as it is helping the Sabres...as Adams has said if it makes sense for the Sabres he's willing to make a trade. Adams was willing to sign Johnson bc of his experience and to help school the young guys so what would stop him from trading for Manson if the price is right? I'm not willing to throw a first out the door but a 2nd isn't going to set the Sabres back.
It's not going back to the 70's but look at how many teams muscled up, Colorado-Trenin, NJ-McDermid, NYR-Rempe, Toronto-Reaves, Boston-Maroon, Fla-Gadjovich...it's about protecting your skilled players. My god Benson has taken a beating this year, teams run at Dahlin. Manson isn't a knuckle dragger...he's a legit top 4 RHD that has some snarl to him. Do you like seeing a Cernak elbow Cozens in the mush after the play was over or a few games ago pin Benson to the ice and then cross check him back down again. To be honest I'd give Columbus a 5th for Olivier and play him against teams like TB.
You keep stressing youth but when your oldest defenceman is 28 we have a ton of youth on the blueline...show me one team that is playoff bound with all young players in the line-up. You need veteran leadership in all areas. We have none on this team besides Tuch and Greenway who has seen the playoffs. Again it's a 2 yr deal that would be easy to trade if need be.

I can agree with that but young RHD that have potential are hard to come by. Manson is perfect for the team at this time but would he waive to come here if
he were available. I like the idea of having both Byram and a Manson In my top 4. It's only a 2 yr contract and I doubt he'd be hard to trade if it came to that.
It all can't be young guys on the team, need some vets with playoff and cup experience sprinkled in. If they kept Okposo that long... 2 yrs of Manson can't hurt.

For as much as I think this is the kind of player the Sabres need back there, he won't waive his M-NTC to come here, end of story.

I agree but with only one year left on his contract and with a hefty raise coming the question is does he give Philly a hometown discount and if not does Philly want to invest long term on a 28 yo player?
In reverse would the Sabres want to invest 2 first round picks in what could be 1 year of Konecny? That would set the Sabres back in my opinion (again) if Konecny bolts after a year, to much of a gamble for the Sabres to take IMO.
Like the player but not the odds.

Part of Pittsburgh's problem is your former GM kept trading your 1st round picks which depleted your prospect pool (27th) keep your top 10 and draft some talent

Did you take into consideration that the only way Skinner is moved is
<strong>1.</strong> He waives his NMC (he wants to stay close to home)
<strong>2.</strong> Buyout

I agree with you BUT if Manson still has enough in the tank and he is willing to waive to come here our first timeline is just to make the playoffs so it might be worth it since he would have 2 years of contract left. If it doesn't work I'm sure he can be traded at the TDL in that last year even if 50% is held. Now you would have two cup winners on the blueline.
Just finished watching his fight with Zadorov from the 13th...still has a bit of nastiness in him for throwing that extra punch when Z was down, something we need

The kid scores, he's 25 and you get 4 prime years of contract...Skinner is in his declining years and drops to the 3rd line next year then bought out the following year.
I'd take Keller but don't think that is the right give for that trade to happen. Definitely would start with our first and maybe Rosen or Samuelsson plus another piece with no draft pick coming back our way.
If I'm Arizona I'd keep Keller use some of that draft capital they've amassed and build that team up. They had a decent first half of the season this year,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fail4Nail</b></div><div>Offensively, sure he'd be better. Makes sense because you get your shots and passes off faster and you don't need to reposition yourself for a one-timer. No chance Dahlin plays a better defensive game on the right side. He's already poor defensively, no chance he's better defending on his backhand.
I never said dman aren't capable of playing on their off-side, I just said they're not as good.</div></div>
I will agree with this...playing his off side Dahlin has given up breakaways a number of times the last couple of years bc he didn't stop the puck at the point. Anderson definitely makes our Top 4 round out. Conversely as pointed out above the cap has to be taken into consideration. Also, don't know if Adam's would trade his 1st rder this year. There's +'s and -'s for the Sabres in a trade like this.

I'm not a fan of Adams but there's one thing I will give him credit for, he doesn't panic and he is patient (maybe to patient).
I think he'll wait and see how the prospects develop first before moving any of them ( by that I mean his top 4).

He'd be desirable due to being signed long term and his age and size.

If the right deal were to come along he is available and that goes for for 95% of the players in the NHL. If Ari were to be offered for example Draisaitl and Edm says Crouse has to be part of the trade is Ari going to say no? You can say Crouse isn't available for that offer and that may very well be true

I think there is more to come but it'll happen this off season when moves are easier to make. I'm a firm believer that at this time of year if there is smoke there is fire. To much out there with Mitts being traded.
GM says he's not shopping Mitts, Mitts says he wants to stay here, GM says will talk extension in off season. Insiders talk about Mitts being traded. Mitts is traded. Everyone says the right thing...what else would you expect them to say. Mitts next contract will be decent, probably more than Adams wanted to spend considering we have centers coming up,

I can't see Adams giving up what is essentially 3 1st rd picks. Quinn at some point may equal BK in terms of goal scoring but I do think the Sabres need the type of player BK is and like you say he has term. He fits the Sabres age timeline. Maybe slide the 1st to 25 bc I can't see Adams trading a lottery pick. This is possibly a better haul than what the Sabres received for Eichel when you come down to it Tuch/Quinn, Ostlund/Krebs, 8oa/16oa, again I don't see Adams giving what is 8oa at this time.

Can't see the NYR and Tampa trades happening...for what Tampa gave up for Jeannot (1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th) there's no way they even entertain that offer. Rempe is the new darling in NY, don't see him being traded.
I do like what you are looking for though, under this scenario maybe go for Trenin (UFA) of Nash and/or Olivier of CBJ.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Sabres aren’t trading Mitts
Maybe for a young, strong defensive RD…. but who is trading one of those?
We REALLY aren’t trading UPL
He’s developed into our starter, so he’s pretty much untouchable. I couldn’t see us moving him
Girgs could be had for a draft pick possibly
We’d likely ask for a 2nd, might settle for a 3rd, not sure</div></div>
Agreed, UPL has finally arrived and he isn't going anywhere.
I'm still on the fence about Mittelstadt being traded or not...until his signature is on a long term contract I'll take the wait and see stance. If he goes to arbitration I think he's a goner and I see him being treated like Reinhart...string him along until you pretty much can't any longer.
The rest of the soon to be UFA's, get what you can and bring some of the kids up to get the NHL experience.
