Is that what happened vs Florida? Vs Tampa x2? Vs Montreal?
When Reaves has better advanced analytics then you when you are supposed to be the 2nd best player on your team... It's a confidence thing or it's a he can't do it thing... Bet on the confidence part and put him with Knies and Holmberg G3 if Willy's back

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>I find it hysterical how you continue to say the Leafs have cap dump players but refuse to acknowledge your own favourite teams dumps. Kampf easily returns a 3rd round pick - he’s worth his contract. A 7th is just ignorant.
Also funny how you claim to keep knowing what players want. There’s been no indication at all that Roy is set on going back to Michigan or not playing in Canada. Yet you continue to say that players don’t wanna play for Toronto just like you claim to think you know that Ekblad wouldn’t</div></div>
Why did they trade Kampf, to bring in Joshua, Leafs need Kampf for PK more than Joshua

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>Blaming Marner for that Pastrnak goal is crazy, that lands on Benoits shoulders.
Marner is a great player whose given a short leash. He's either forced to be Matthews' personal assistant or carry the load of Tavares and Knies. Under another coaches system, Marner would pot 40 goals.
If we were to trade him (which would be a huge mistake), I actually don't hate Random2152 's idea. I'd love to get Doan out of Arizona / Utah, big fan of that kid. I think Crouse would be an unmitigated disaster under Keefe though, he seems to struggle with players like that. Unless you are a low maintenance speedy 2 way winger, you won't find success under Keefe. He completely fails to utilize those wildcard players to their strengths. The only teams that make sense for Marner IMO are New Jersey and Utah. Again though, I'd be crushed to see him dealt</div></div>

He's not figured it out for the past 8 years... What makes you think he'll figure it out now while playing top 6...
Give him bottom 6 comp, like PLD and Lindholm and nurse his confidence when Willy comes back...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>He can and has but it's a misallocation of the lineup. He's not a shooter he's a passer. Willy does everything. So putting Marner with JT makes more sense since he's also a shooter. Improves JT (his best season came with Marner as his winger). And then Willy can feast on the 3rd line.
Then at certain times Willy can jump to the left and play with JT and Marner. For a super line.
<strong>Stop hating Marner for no reason.</strong></div></div>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReAMpi8b2Ds; 2:12 in and pause it, look at the 3 PKers and the goalie... How does this end u[ as a wasted opportunity?... That's why he should be on the 3rd line...
He needs to earn his way back, just like Robertson had, just like Bert (who should be on PP1, what if Keefe thinking...) just like Knies, etc

You kind of contradicted yourself, if Marner's game is being flashy with the passes and noticeable, if he wasn't that, he's not forechecking, he's not in scrums... PK was awful, again, so what is he doing?

Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion Part 6 - Nearly Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>That's as ridiculous as the argument you are disagreeing with here. The last 2 games of the regular season when Matthews didn't score, he had loads of chances, while playing with Marner but didn't score. It was just luck.
Marner is a world class playmaker and makes his linemates better. Yeah he does have his issues between the ears, he's definitely the most fragile of the core players. But to suggest he's anything but an incredible player is silly. He is best utilized with shooters. Give him McMann and JT, he'll get the most offense out of them. Willy I would argue is actually better than Marner (when he wants to be) and can just do more by himself. Give him his own line and he'll cause a lot of matchup problems. Matthews makes Domi and Bertuzzi better, Marner will get the maximum out of JT and Willy can feast on 3rd liners. Or he'll be so good, Marner and JT gets 3rd liners and then they will feast. Putting Marner with Holmberg and whoever will eliminate so much offensive potential from the lineup. Give Marner a guy who scores a lot and JT scores more than anyone not named Matthews or Nylander.</div></div>
Frankly, Marner hasn't earned it over Willy, over Robertson, over Knies...
He's not a rookie anymore, he's getting out hustled and outplayed bc of it... Put him on his own line and say; "You get to work your way up; just like everyone else"
Sick and tired of this fanbase making excuse after excuse for the worst player out of the 5 in the playoffs, game after game

Again... Off topic, Marner wasn't playable in G1 and shouldn't be given preferential treatment over a guy like Domi or Knies when it comes to wingers for JT and Matthews...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>And yet Marner produced and helped others like McMann who was on his line with JT score when he got back in the reg season hmmm I wonder. Like its a losing argument at this point for yah
Since he returned from injury Marner scored a goal and had 8 assists. He's earned his keep
He almost helped Matthews in the FLA game get one on the PP and in TBL almost helped him but he hit the crossbar lul.
Robertson yes has earned top 9min but not at the expense of Marner dont be silly.
Yesterday Matthews had one dangerous chance and hit the post then took a dumb offensive zone penalty and came out with 0 goals and assists thats it. Marner and JT also came out with no points but hey didnt take a dumb penalty and Marner for the most part had to try and clean the top lines messes
In the end Matthews is the highest paid guy on this team, Matthews is the man whose supposed to be scoring the goals and leading this team to a cup like MacKinnon did for AVS, OVI did for WSH, etc. As onex put it "bottom line is the stars have to score. It's why they get the big bucks and if the stats line is going to be zero, zero, zero, good luck winning anything". He's been called the future captain and is gonna be the highest paid guy on the team and NHL soon go show it. Marner also has to but he should not be relied upon more so than Matthews lul.
You think his lines doing well you do you but if they have another game like game 1 god help them especially Matthews</div></div>
Again, you are completely ignoring any of Marner's deficiencies during G1 or during G81-G82... And go right in on Matthews... Should Matthews have been better? Yes
But Matthews was doing good things that he can build off of...
I can remember moments from each of JT, Robertson, Matthews, Bert and Domi for forwards...
I can't say the same for Marner... As the 3rd highest paid player

Marner is a playmaking wing how you get the maximum worth of his skills = playing him with a good center. With Holmberg its just a waste
Willy is a goal scorer who cares who his wings are. Look at Domi Matthews is utilizing his playmaking to the max like he was for Marner</div></div>
Like how he used it when he had time with Matthews and JT? Combined 0 goals when Marner played with them these past few games...
Look at Robertson, he's earned the right to play top 9 minutes, Marner hasn't earned the right to play with Matthews or JT...
you have to earn it, wasting playoffs games doesn't work for SC champs

Again there was nothing positive
Only thing we got was a parade to the penalty box and 2 of those lead to Bruin goals
Thats really it
And actually if we look at positive lines the only one surprisingly despite the bullying it took were the 3rd and 4th lines. And of those 4th line only one to put a puck behind Swayman.
Again its silly to defend them after that performance. If they dont improve game 2 they should be split especially if Domi takes multiple stupid penalty
Further putting Marner on the third line is silly especially when we see Willy might be dealing with something<strong>. Marner's playmaking is best suited for JT or Matthews not Holmberg
</strong>
<strong>Your targeting of him but praise of Matthews that game is silly as neither were good lul.</strong></div></div>
That shows you why he's not worth what he is and shows the reasoning behind why he should on L3; he dependent on JT and AM...
Bc Matthews at least gave a sh1t lul... You can tell based on each other's forechecks and during scrums, who's more involved and who played better...
It looked like Matthews was trying to get going, Marner didn't care
Which lead to the penalties, out of carelessness and frustration...
