I don't mind that trade - Your penalty kill just got better and he'd fetch a decent price at Deadline if he doesn't resign
Would love to see Columbus get that true #1 Center though, that would be a game changer! (Hoping Carlsson or Smith pan out for you!)

Garland was never a buy out candidate to my knowledge, could be wrong. I know he was a sell low candidate but with the OEL buyout, Vancouver can afford to keep him now and hes still a pretty good player in my eyes.</div></div>
Detroit is going to be interesting for sure :)
I think Garland is good as well (we call him the angry Elf because of how he plays) as for the Buyout that's from our local TSN guys who gossip, *not the Canucks brass themselves. There a couple links but heres one where they mention it - Thanks for replying it's nice having that kind of reply!

Vancouver would be on that like white on rice as Garland was considered as a Buy out candidate, Poj is a can't miss prospect, and a top 4 in a year or two
That would be close to what Calgary would want for Hanifin, especially in a deep draft - might need a B prospect to chip in, but not far off. (My gut says watch out for Detroit though)

That might be among the best top 4 D in the league! From the Flames perspective I think the value fits for both (I'm kind of wishing Hanifin was a RD)

Quite large difference between some cities (Montreal is the 2nd worst in the league, and some states only pay Federal Tax, no state tax) Kind of wish there was some equality there :(

Improve our D? Brodie is better than Bogosian by a fair margin - that's a cap dump if there ever was one ;) (plus the 3 full seasons he's played with Buffalo he's missed 108 games) That's an easy pass from the Flames. We are looking for a top RW, and draft picks though (since Tre seems to give our picks away)

He has a NTC which makes him eligible to be selected in expansion (his NTC allows him to submit a 20 team No Trade list though) It's the NMC (No move clause) that teams must protect, so you'll need to rework the trade a bit :) I would love to see a good RW on the top line though!

Galchenyuk against Pierre-Luc Dubois . INTENSIVE TALKS HAPPENING .
That was an online Twitter poll Martin Lemay made for a listener :P (not a rumour of a trade at all)
The twitter poll states:
#onjase:Un auditeur m'a demandé la question suivante: P-L Dubois vs Galchenyuk, le fais-tu? Imagine le C dans 2 ans Drouin, Dubois, Danault
Translated it means:
#onjase: A listener asked me the following question: P-L Dubois vs Galchenyuk, do you? Imagine the C in 2 years Drouin, Dubois, Danault
and if anyone cares 62% of people who responded to the poll said yes.

if Toronto wanted Tkachuck that Badly.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLSage</b></div><div>Not trolling just put a few players, on. Im more asking what would a Calgary fan accept as fair value. Since Nylander/Marner/Matthews are much better players.</div></div>
Matthews is generational, but Nylander and Marner....well I'll make the case for Tkachuk and why he's just as good.
He was used as a shut down guy with Backlund and Frolik against teams other top lines and still managed to produce 48 pts, and dominated metrics wise (though playing with Backlund helps that cause)
Big one here is Tkachuk played 2mins less per game than Marner and Nylander, so if you based the stats on points per 60mins you'd have a very close race points wise from that perspective, and he will be getting more minutes this year.
He has the physical, pesty, intangibles edge by a mile, and started taking less penalties as the year went on
Keep in mind he is still 2 years younger than Nylander (7 months younger than Marner) so give him a couple years and picture where he'll be...(and where Marner will be actually too)
Points wise, I think Marner has the highest ceiling, and he can kill penalties too (I'm a big Marner fan actually, much more so than Nylander) but at this point in time the price for Tkachuk would be on par with those two, basically they're all untouchable.

NSH-VAN deal to make the Preds Cup favorites
I think the hardest part with trading D this year, is the darn Vegas Golden Knights have a plethora of them and will sell them cheap. While most aren't as good as Tanev (the couple that are Vegas will keep), they'd fill a teams needs on a third pairing, so teams like Nashville, Anaheim, Calgary etc who have solid top 4/5 in place won't be in the market.
I think New Jersey would be the perfect trading partner for Vancouver. They're making a splash this year, as they grabbed Marcus Johansson and Brian Boyle on forward, plus Hall has said he thinks they're not done - but their D is not so good and was a huge weakness last year - on the right side they have Damon Severson who's developing into a #1 RD..... then they have Ben Lovejoy and Dalton Prout...Tanev is an easy fit there.

A Trade with Calgary ***With Description***
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Arom5477</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Flames89</b></div><div>Calgary doesn't need goalie prospects. The only goalie that would be worth while would be a upgrade on Smith as a starter but Smith should be an upgrade on the last few years.
Backland is also finally becoming the player he was drafted to be 10 years ago, and he should be in the teams long term plans. He had a Selke caliber season last year and playing with Frolik again makes me believe he could do it again.
Jankowski was drafted as a 5 year project and that would mean this year is when he was expected to make his move and all signs point to him being in the lineup this season.
So in all, as a flames fan i am not moving those two players.</div></div>
Why?? Smith is really old, and Lack is only meant to be a backup. Wouldn't you want a grade A goalie prospect in the pipeline waiting to take over the reigns?</div></div>
We have 3 A Grade goalie prospects actually: Tyler Parsons (Memorial Cup champion, World Juniors champion for the US), Jon Gillies (NCAA title and MVP for Frozen 4), David Rittich (.924 save% in his first AHL year from coming over from Europe), then we still have Mason MacDonald, Schneider etc in the pipeline for goalies, we're very well set there. The exact reason we grabbed Smith was because we wanted a short term goalie before we call those guys up.
(and I'm in no way criticizing since it's tough to know other teams prospects - I have no clue who T. Jarry is either so I literally can't judge lol) -
we're deep on Goalie, center, leftwing and defence. Weak on RW and lack draft picks - so Hornqvist is attractive (if he'll waive to come to Calgary even and pay those awesome Canadian taxes, which is why Canadian clubs tend to be on that no trade list) but we'd be the ones trying to offer defence/goalie depth I think :P

This would be a very hard no from the Flames. No one trades a #2C for a #7/8 dman (and Holden being right-handed is below Hamilton, Hamonic and Stone by a fair margin - so he's #7 max. Gulutzan doesn't play D on their off hand so left isn't an option - even then you still have Gio/Brodie/Kulak over there)
I think my comparison on their page was - trading the Rangers Zibanejad to Colorado for Dman Mark Barberio and on top of that the Rangers can throw in Goalie prospect Georgiev. So try and look at it from the perspective (adding 4th and B-prospect won't entice the Rangers to make that trade either - let alone retaining salary)</div></div>
the point is take that and run from the rangers perspective.. i didn't think it was that fair at all hence why i was like okay i gotta add at least something. only thing is holden is a left handed shot.... i think he traded brodie hence why he needed the left handed shot.. i don't know too much about backlund but i know he's a decent mid six player. don't know how flames value him though-- obv didn't look to far into who made it</div></div>
Actually it was kinda harsh on you now that I read it - when I typed it out, it didn't sound as mean in my head - so apologies for that (and yes you're right Holden is left handed and plays Right D.)
Backs quite frankly was our best player for most of last year - takes the toughest assignments and still puts up points - he was up there in Selke voting last year for that reason :)

RFAs cleaned up and starting lines
Trying to list prospects by where you think they fit in the order is tougher than people think (and every list is different)
I think Janko, and Kulak are the most likely to make the jump. Then I think Andersson, Poirier, Klimchuk, Foo will get looks depending on injury, so I'm not far off where you're at either.
Shinkaruk has been passed now on the depth chart at both Centre and LW IMO. I still think he'll get a look, but this is the year he needs to prove himself. Poirier I think rebounds in a big way, kind of like Ferland did after he got help.

gaudreauless
Well....it takes guts to create Armchair teams you're not familiar with I'll give you that.
I will say Philly, Ottawa and New York all thank you very very much.
Now for some feedback
Flames won't have interest in Voracek. Vanderm and PhillyJabroni have had some fun compare's on here for trades between Philly and the Flames. General consensus is you're looking Konecny/Simmonds (one or the other) to start.
Brodie is top Dman, and will likely take over top spot from Gio this year. Turris would be the starting point from the Sens. (The Flames have Mony, Backs, Bennett, Jankowski, Lazar, Stajan for center depth)
The Rangers trade.... well of the 3 trades you made....that's just... bad... as a comparison - Let's trade the Rangers Zibanejad to Colorado for lets say... Dman Mark Barberio and on top of that the Rangers can throw in Goalie prospect Georgiev. (You can try and argue Holden is better, but bottom line is, on the Flames Holden is a #7/8 dman and will be passed quickly) On the Right side we have Hamilton, Hamonic, Stone, (Holden would be well below those three)
It's hard to know other teams prospects so I'll pitch in - For D you'd have Kulak, Andersson in there then Kylington (Valimaki will be in the minors this year) - On Forward - Hrivek is going to be in the minors for a while yet (and is RW) you're going to have these prospects play before him- Jankowski (C), Foo (RW), Pribyl (RW), Mangiapane (LW), Klimchuk (LW), Poirier (LW), Shinkuruk (LW/C) ahead of him. Probably a few I'm missing like Dube etc
Again I will give you props for having the gonads to create multiple league teams. I hope you watch a ton of hockey this year! Hopefully some Flames games

OuchII Vicious!! You claim Byron off waivers from Calgary for free, then flip him back for picks? (I lol'd at that) I think any team but Calgary would get you picks for Byron (Calgary would have to admit they were wrong in waiving him and they won't do that) Vegas has a bunch of picks and could use a 20+ goal scorer I'm sure :D Pretty decent moves overall though!

I think he could make about 500k more with the isles, but if he wants a trade, and he gets traded to mtl, Bergevin can convince him to take slightly less.</div></div>
I think Bergevin would need to pay more for one simple reason...Taxes. Canadian clubs tend to be on No trade lists just because of that-and Montreal is the worst (there are a few American clubs that have bad taxes like Carolina - but a lot are super cheap like Tampa, Nashville and Dallas-remember the difference in the Radulov deal for the exact same contract...3.8m) I hate taxes.
