Questions for my fellow Habs fans
I haven't watched much of Reinhart, but what I do know about him is, he is great defensively, scored 50+ goals and can be a game breaker.
As people and pundits are saying Suzuki and Barkov are comparable players, so it's not that far of a reach to assume Reinhart's production with Suzuki would be similar.
I'd be happy if the habs throw money at him. . but for no more than 5 years. 5 Years at 12 Million would be great for the player and team, Reinhart's deal would expire one year before Suzuki's. Reinhart would be 33 at expiry, which should give him enough time for one last pay day, that won't happen at 35 or 36.
The habs then have control of Suzy, Slaf, Caufield, Reinhart, Dach, Newhook, Guhle, Hutson and Reinbacher for the next 5+ years. If the progression of the current habs continue, we are in for a good run.

Much like Panarin wouldn't waste his time on a rebuilding Rangers I guess, eh?

wait.. there it is. . I see a 1st round pick and two defensemen that had better offensive seasons on a team without a Brayden Point or Kucherov on their team

Get Lane To Chick-Fil-A
"Send him to the AHL because he's too small" that's probably the worst reason to send him to the AHL. He will be targeted in the AHL much more than the NHL for his size. The NHL can be a dump and chase league, but the AHL is a dump and target league, those big AHL wingers aren't looking to dump and chase, they're looking to dump and destroy.
If Lane is too small for the NHL, the Habs did him a disservice by signing him, he could have had another year in college. I expect Lane to stay in the NHL from this point forward or head overseas, never the AHL.

Timo hasn't worked out in Jersey, Armia is providing just as much value as Timo since he was traded to Jersey last. Savard is a proven playoff performer and stanley cup winner. Jersey can have all these guys who Contribute come playoff time for two playoff runs for close to the same amount of money as Timo makes.
Timo is not performing like a 9 million dollar player and he has 7 more seasons to go.

This is also bonkers, if you're thinking players (Slafkovsky and Reinbacher) the Habs are all in on are worth a player your GM is looking to trade and apparently went to war with over a contract extension this past fall.

Trikizov is also a very good prospect that the Canes have high hopes for, and asking for him for a position the Canes really don't need doesn't make much sense. Especially when the Canes could just do the DeAngelo trade</div></div>
Canes have 4 D-men on expiring deals, Savard has another year remaining on his deal. I do think Savard is a good fit for the Canes. If the Canes can't re-sign Brady Skjei, at least Savard is there as a replacement already giving the canes some consistency from this year to next in their top 4. Savard is also a playoff warrior and Stanley cup winner.
Savard is an upgrade on DeAngelo on the defensive side of the game which is need for playoffs.
Canes could just do the DeAngelo Trade with Winnipeg sure, but does a second round pick help them in the playoffs?

yep there is no replacement right now. the Youngsters with a chance are Barron and Mailloux and neither have shown they can be counted on at this point. Best is to hope that Savard handles himself adequately against top competition and makes himself a trade target to play on a contending 3rd pair.

Cody Ceci still hasn’t shaken off the hit. If you want him, quantity is a component, but the value comes from the quality</div></div>
yes I agree, he's very valuable, and maybe more would be required. Petterson has the leverage though, if he says I'm not signing in vancouver beyond 1 year, the value Vancouver can get back drops significantly.

Anyone heard GM Kent Hughes speak recently.
Habs are in rebuild for at least 2 more years, if not 3.
Sure, Petterson is an elite talent, amazing player.
But he'll cost a gigantic contract.
A 24 year-old elite talent should be signed in 3 years. Not right now, when the Habs will (and hopefully) suck, since they have draft picks capital.
As a Habs fan, I almost hope they lose every game 6-5 (but not in OT/SO) so they land at the bottom of the standings.</div></div>
Hughes would be fired in an instant if he didn't look into an available Petterson. They were in on Dubois this year and that was a way worse fit for Montreal than Petterson would be.

Also Kirby Dach (assumed progressing to 1C) and two first round picks, while taking away the Conor Garland contract without retention??? no value?? get out of here.
