<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShanahanTrelivingKeefe</b></div><div>That is why I put in a pretty solid offer , it would take something like this to make SEA think , maybe even have to switch Timmins for Niemela depending on what they like more.</div></div>
A 2nd and 3rd isn't that solid of an offer to make them want to consider making their team worse and creating a big hole in the line up. They just don't have a replacement for him or Larsson.

It’s not enough for Larsson.
Just because you give more assets than the St. Louis trade last year, doesn’t mean it’s more. Villenueve is likely a career AHL player. Tverberg is an underrated prospect but his ceiling is a bottom 6 guy. Timmins has very little to no value because he’s only eating cap space for a 7th defenceman and he’s always injured. The 1st is decent but this years draft is weak after the top 20 prospects so it’s not much. 2nd isn’t worth much since it’ll be late and the 3rd isn’t much either.
Larsson retained will definitely cost more than this.

any Kraken fans know what your selling
Eberle is probably the only one available that is listed. RF isn't trading players with term so that knocks off most of the list above.
Schultz, Wennberg, Eberle, Driedger, I would expect Schultz gets some calls. Wennberg doesn't put up a lot of points but this guy plays a 200 foot game and does so many small things right on the ice that doesn't show up on the scoresheet.
I could see RF trading Ebs at the deadline and pushing to re-sign him as a UFA if the deal is right.

A Rebuttal to the 8 Billion Larsson to the Leafs ACGMs
Add to all you say the fact that Adam Larsson has appeared in every single game that the Kraken have ever played, and there's a small but significant sentimental factor there.

Seems perfectly logical, only difference is Muzzin actually had the playoff pedigree. Larsson does not but that's on the buyer to figure out how much that bothers them.

Larsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>From my POV, you are way off. Hypothetically I think a competitive offer to Larsson would be comparable to the trade Toronto made for Muzzin, something like Niemelä, Robertson, and 2024 first and third round picks. It would cost more on top of that to get the Kraken to retain some of Larsson's cap hit.
Honestly though I don't see the Kraken entertaining trading away Larsson any time soon, he's a critical piece of their team and they don't have any incentive to move him. It has already been reported that Larsson is going nowhere this deadline.</div></div>
Makes sense, thanks for your thoughts I appreciate it!!

McBain and Borgen
I can't see Seattle doing this.
Borgen has developed into a reasonable defenseman whom you are going to play with your #1 defender and has played in the Kraken's last 139 games (at least). Timmins is a dubious asset who has gotten into only 16 games this season and the third and fifth are even more speculative. This doesn't seem close to me.

Seattle Trade
Wennberg and Borgen are reasonable middle-tier players. (You think that Borgen is good enough to play with Reilly.) Timmins barely is and Miettinen and Tverberg are B prospects. The first and an over-the-horizon third don't make up for the difference in pedigree, in my opinion.

What I would do
Larsson is a top pair defenseman in Seattle - I don't think they move him + retain half his deal for this year and next for this. I'd argue that at least one of those 3rds is fair value for the retention, and that Timmins is just a warm body here with minimal trade value.
That makes the meat of the trade a 1st, a 3rd, and a project prospect in Tverberg. I think a decent comp for this trade is the Mattias Ekholm deal from last year's deadline - a top pair D with an extra year of term being traded to a contender. Ekholm brought back Tyson Barrie (a flawed but usable 2nd pair D), Reid Schaefer (recent 1st round pick), a 1st in that year's draft and a 4th a year out, and Nashville only had to retain $250K for a year and a half, not $2M. Value just isn't here for me when you have a recent comp like that.

That'd probably get Lybushkin, wouldn't get Borgen though, the Kraken probably prefer to keep him then trade him for a couple of whatever picks.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed William Nylander (8 Years / $11,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdb9831</b></div><div>In a vacuum, this is a good deal just based on what Nylander brings to the table. He is worth the money and should continue to be through most of the contract. The last few years won't be as bad with the higher cap as well.
The problem is the structure of this team. I just don't think you can give 4 players 50% of the money and ice a complete roster. I have the feeling the Delta between JT+Marner now compared to JT+Marner with their upcoming extensions won't be much, if anything. JT will see his pay come down, I honestly don't know what a 'fair' number will look like, and Marner will go up. Probably something around 13-14 million/year. So even if JT takes 6-8 million on the next deal, the core four will still cost around 50% of the cap.</div></div>
This is really what it boils down to. Big Willie has absolutely earned his payday but between him, JT, Stachews, and Mitch the rest of the roster is gonna be looking at Toronto's available cap like Will Smith looking around at the house at the end of Fresh Prince.

Whats The Cost Seattle Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>For all the reasons listed by ATC above, I don't think the Kraken would seriously consider moving Daccord. However, if Edmonton or another team were to make an offer, the cost would undoubtedly be quite steep. Given Seattle has had goalie issues of their own in the past and Daccord is on the best run of form by a Kraken goaltender ever, I think right now you're looking at a first round pick or a conditional second round pick that becomes a first if Edmonton makes a certain round of the playoffs (a la the Fleury to Minnesota deal) to get Seattle to listen.</div></div>
Yeah it just doesnt make any sense short or long term. We've had a run of some truly awful goaltending, this guy comes out of nowhere and gives us hope and we're gunna deal that for picks?
If he werent signed for next year too I might consider it. But goaltending being what it is in the nhl, Im happy to ride this high until the carriage turns back into a pumpkin lol.

He's signed through next year. Even if we dont make a run this year, having him for 1.2 mil next year is a steal. Not much reason to trade him to western conf. opponent.
