Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (4 Years / $13,250,000 AAV)
Avs fans have got to be really pleased with the MacKinnon contract after seeing this.
Matt got Half the term and more money and he's an arguably worse player.

(MTL/VGK) - Weber for Dadonov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersguy</b></div><div>why are people voting for the habs? it cost Vegas a 2nd to dump Dadonov in march but now it isn't costing them anything</div></div>
Because Dadonov won’t be a cap dump to us, he has 1 year left and is still a decent player. We can easily flip him at the TDL for some assets thus making it Shea Weber for assets

The Leafs may have won this trade, and that’s great and all, but was it worth sacrificing their morals? Stealing from a senile old man... where does it end? Shame on Dubas and RIP Pit fans.

Wow!
Scandella with his full 4m got 2nd + 4th while Dillon at 1.6m got 2nd + 3rd.
Good return from the Habs since Dillon>Scandella IMO
edit : Conditions updated and 50% retained salary
With the conditions met or not, SJS receives a 2nd+3rd. MTL only receives a 4th if conditions are met (resigning or 2 rounds won). Value seems proportional to their talent

He's played 3rd line minutes for us and got 3 points. What a move by Bergevin.

Knock off the Price trades
I'm just going to put this out there.
I think the consensus around CF is that no team should trade for CP and I tend to agree as well BUT there are numerous hockey personalities online/radio etc who have stated that a trade <em>could </em>happen under the <strong>right</strong> circumstances. Those circumstances are obviously super specific but they are technically not impossible. Let's not forget, there was a GM who thought trading unprotected 1sts was a good idea or trading FOR Lucic was a good idea. Some of these guys don't think the way many of us on CF do.....
We may agree that we wouldn't do it but are you 100% there isn't a single GM in the NHL that wouldn't? I have to say, I am not certain of that.
Honestly I am less annoyed with the idea of trading Price than I am with the returns people think he'll get. At the end of the day, bring on the Price the trades! Just try to make them somewhat realistic as to spark a discussion about it.

Getting younger and winning your thoughts
Why on earth would Montreal do that with Nashville? Tolvanen has a good season in the KHL and even in his first AHL season, but now he's on a worst pace than last year. At best, it's Tatar for Tolvanen + 2nd. Then we are trading Mete + Juulsen for a 4th. How does that make sense?
Petry starts with a first round pick. Habs reject.
Do you actually think Montreal would pay up assets for Abdelkader? You have to give us a very good prospect if you want to trade him.
Montreal isn't going to pay all of those future assets for a guy who is going to get overpaid in the offseason.
Not sure why Oiler fans are so attached to Samorukov, but I wouldn't trade Lehkonen or Armia 1 for 1 for him.
What purpose does the Jett Woo trade do for Montreal? He's doing worst than last year and he's a year older
Do you think Detroit could actually get value for Abdelkader? You likely have to send a 2nd round pick + a very good prospect back if you want to offload him.
Hamilton is a career 40-50 PT defender who is going to get overpaid because of this year. I don't think Montreal should have any interest in him.

Sellers at the TDL
If we are retaining half of Petry's value, we are going to ask for more than that. I'd say something like 1st + 3rd + A- Prospect.
Tatar's value is fair. I don't really have anything to disagree about that, maybe we could get more, but it depends on the market during the TD
Kovalchuk trade is fair if he keeps proving what he can do.

ANY DRAFT THAT DOESNT HAVE STUTZLE TOP 5 IS NOT LEGIT
Wrong statement. Although Stutzle is definitely a top-5 talent. There are 8-9 guys who are top-5 talents and it would depend on team that is in that position who would get drafted where. Stutzle can go 4th and he can go 8th depending on final teams position.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Karimizo</b></div><div>I think you might be underestimating a bit Petry and Tatar. Petry is still a very valuable dman and can help any team in the playoffs. With the salary retention, he is easily worth a 1st+2nd+3rd.
Tatar is currently MTL's best producer, on pace for a 68pts season and just 29yo. Remember that Vegas traded a 1st+2nd+3rd for Tatar when he had only 28pts in 62games. I think Tatar is worth a 1st and a prospect from a contender at the TDL.</div></div>
Im not some mega expert but I watch every single game of the Habs and I can tell you that Petry is good, remarquable skater, good shot, good first pass and the ability to support on offense, BUT he also showed a looot of inconstancy over the years, his decision making in defensive zone and on the PP are terrible wich is why he isnt elite. If I, a normal hockey fan can see that, it means every scout also does! Like I said, good defensman but not worth 3 good draft Pick and a roster player, especially given the fact that he's 32 with only one year left at a good price, he ask a raide and a long terme contract after this one, wich isnt super attractive for others GM.
2x2nd and an ok prospect or a 1st and a 3rd would be fair on my opinion.

I think they proved that Lafreniere is significantly ahead of the rest of this draft.
I think Drysdale showed he is the best defensman available. It is very hard to play in this tournament as a young D.
Tim Stutzle moved himself well into the top 3 conversation. Before the tournament he was more pushing to be in the top 5.
Other than those 3, the Swedish duo of Holtz and Raymond both looked as expected and the remainder of the (top end) draft prospects didn't play in the tournament.

Calgary Flames signed Jakob Pelletier (3 Years / $863,333 AAV)
Based on development camp he seems like he is one of the most determined prospects out on the ice. Constantly hounds the puck and already has the smarts to play a good two-way game. This deal is his reward (signing bonus money) for a good camp. Hopefully he goes down to light up Jr, work out to add strength, and gets some consideration for the WJC this December.

Kakko had people vote no as well when he could max make 3.555. He could be just as good as Hughes if not better.</div></div>
