Flames Goaltending needs
It seems like Elliott will not be resigned, he could be but unlikely. Management has not really made any comments on the goaltending situation. But it is obvious they need better goaltending. Who would you think the Flames should go after this upcoming offseason. BTW I am almost sure the Flames will not go after Bishop because he wants a long term deal with lots of money, Flames are most likely only looking for a 1-3 year deal to give Gillies and Parsons time to develop.

Flames are not giving up Backlund at all. He was the MVP of the team this season it would take A LOT for the Flames to trade him.

Where will Vegas land in the standings after their first year?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Banks</b></div><div>Where do you think they will land after their first year with their expansion team?</div></div>
Depends which way they go in the expansion draft. If they mainly pick the more experienced players to try to be successful early or pick players for the future.

I think we are going to get really lucky this year and have great playoff matchups.

It will be fun to watch, that's for sure. Hockey gets so entertaining this time of year.</div></div>
There would be a lot of rough stuff in that series haha, because of the most recent game with 106 penalty minutes in the 3rd period lol

Playoff Lineup without Fowler
That injury on Fowler looked bad, I think it will be more serious. But agreeing with the others Anaheim is very deep on the D even without Fowler. they could still make a solid run for it, I just don't want the Ducks to play the Flames in the 1st round

Why has fighting not been removed from the NHL yet?
The main part of fighting is sticking up for your teammates, it mainly happens because of a big or dirty hit or to provide a spark. It is part of the game and has been for a very long time. The main arguments to get rid of it are the concussions that happen from it. I see why lots of people want it gone but I don't think it will be removed from the game anytime soon.

Will the Carolina Hurricanes make the playoffs?
If they won against the Stars I think they possibly could have, but they got shut out. I think next year if they get reliable goaltending they could make it. They have a very talented young Defence group.

the flames aren't giving away Hamilton for anything anytime soon. Since he was paired with Giordano he has been the best flames defenceman. I agree with most of the other stuff though

the conditions are if the ducks make conference final and eaves plays 50% of the game the second turns into a first, this was a good trade for both teams

He seems to get penalized easily now and there's never a penalty called against him. Seems like there's a few guys the refs are after. I bet Vermette is next on their non-call list</div></div>
yeah defiantly, I hope the league pays more attention to stuff like this.

Arguably the biggest story recently(Read Description)
In Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts, He said that the Calgary Flames had a meeting with the NHL to discuss the way the Flames are officiated. Friedman in talking to Doug Mclean about a call on the Flames joked about the "Wideman Conspiracy" The meeting was very tense, the Flames are leading the league in penalties taken and penalty minutes per game and are still sitting in the final wild card spot, one point behind Nashville. The Flames in the categories last year were 26th and 19th. In the meeting they went through tons of video including multiple no calls specifically against Dennis Wideman. If there has been a conspiracy against the Flames in the officiating it could have a big affect on the rest of the Flames season. If you watch Calgary Flames games often you probably have noticed how bad and unfair the officiating has been to the Flames constantly this year. This was the right move for the flames, they desperately needed someone to play with TJ Brodie on the second D pairing. Michael Stone is a great fit for Brodie and how the flames play

Emile Poirier is yet again under preforming in the AHL and will not make the team text year
Morgan Klimchuk is doing better this year but probably needs 1 more year in the A before getting his shot
Oliver Kylington is also doing well in the AHL this year but also needs at least 1 more year in the A before getting a full time call up
Finally you have decided to split up Backlund and Frolik... This was tried earlier this year (with Frolik on line 1) and failed miserably...</div></div>
The tkachuk-backlund-frolik line is the only reason the flames are still in the playoff race. why would they split up the two when they pretty much the only ones giving offence to the team?

Refs good or bad this year? Comment what you think
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PrinterBob17</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div>I feel officiating has been getting progressively worse as the years have gone on.</div></div>
This doesn't excuse the poor officiating, but I think the rule book has become one big gray area. I honestly don't know what goaltender interference or a legal/illegal hit is anymore.</div></div>
Yeah goalie interference used to be preventing the goalie from being able to make a save, now its pretty much if you touch the goalie the goal is disallowed even if the goalie had a chance to make the save, if the player touched him no goal. For example Nazem Kadri on Martin Jones on December 13 and Nazem Kadri on Roberto Luongo on December 28. Both of those "Goalie Interference" calls the goalies were able to make the save but they were touched. The league needs to revisit the rules on Goalie interference
