Draft splash
Jets aren't likely to part with McGroarty. I think they like the idea of a power forward with a great shot and a potential future captain.
I don't think Hutson could unseat Morrissey as the PP quarterback next season. Jets have organizational depth on LD.

Joblow you are correct, he is fourth among the Sabre forward prospects not even including Benson, Quinn nor Peterka.
KingMurray maybe as you said a pick from the Canadians would be appropriate.
BUFF36 I do not like the trade either but let's give Jackaille credit for making a trade that actually helps both teams.</div></div>
I agree, it's a decent AGM. It's a Hockey Trade between 2 teams that have some strengths in the Area's of the other teams weakness.

Usually when a Team is strong in Certain areas they use that to improve other Areas. The Sabres don't know how to do that.

Yes, he has middle 6 potential just like Barron still has Top 4 potential. Defenseman usually always take longer.

Blockbuster with BUF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>Don’t get me wrong, i like Mittlestadt but he isn’t a top tier forward. He would be a nice addition to Mtl roster that for sure but not at the cost of a futur top righthanded defenseman. Buffalo didn’t even received a prospect of that caliber in the Eichel trade.
A late first and Logan Mailloux or Justin Barron would be much more a return to expect. Historically if you look at similar profile player in a similar position then Mittlestadt this is the return. Fiala deal is probably a great start to what the return would look like.
At the time of the trade Faber was a good prospect but he wasn’t a high profile prospect with the 19th overall pick. I think that this is what to expect in a trade for Mittlestadt.
As for Reinbacher, 5th overall pick aren’t traded a year after being traded. Unless you are talking about the top tier players.</div></div>
Very valid points here.
It’s funny you mention the Eichel trade as I did look into it before making this trade. Although he didn’t pan out, Krebs was ranked as a top-20 prospect in the league at the time and Tuch was a young top-6 power forward (plus 2 picks).
Here, for a lesser player in Mitts, the cost is virtually a top-30 prospect (since we could say Savard gets Krebs 1 vs 1).
I’d love it if the price was Barron and WPG’s first, but I’d be surprised to see BUF say yes to that (if they do, be my guest, I’d do it in a heartbeat).

silly offseason ideas
What happened did the KK shine finally wear off? Sucks I liked the kid but he just doesn't have more than a 40 point ceiling. He probably should have stuck around in Montreal rather than chased the mighty dollar, and to think you guys gave up so many good picks and threw 44.6 mil at him before he had proved anything, guess that's what makes Waddell and Dundon the masterminds of the operation and clear winners in the OS war! LMAO

Some Final Upgrades
I was reading about Raty and scouting reports say his skating is problematic. This has been the downfall of many NHL prospects in recent years and the Habs especially have publicly said they want to play a speed game.
While a Center for Xhekaj is the ideal return, this does not seem to be the right deal.

It's a win for both teams in my opinion. Winnipeg adds without changing their lineup too much. Habs get a late 1st for a guy who could have signed anywhere. Monahan is the biggest winner in this!

It’s probably easier to come back next year in TDL season and say how delusional and out of touch MTL fans are, and how Chiarot and Monahan deals were fluke. And it’s not exclusive to Jets fans.

That's not the argument.
I think the value is FAIR. No doubt.
But with Monahan gone today; and Dvorak AND Dach out for the season, Habs currently have only 2 NHL centers in their lineup... including Evans haha

Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>Problem is not is production but the way he is playing. He is not willing to do the small thing that make a team win. Mtl is building a hard working culture that he doesn’t fit at all, that the comparison with Hoffman. Both have offensive skill but both are lazy as fk.</div></div>
He's looked off this year, but he's not lazy. He skates like a giraffe, which makes him look slow and like he's not putting in effort, but he does do the little things defensively (one of the few things coaching in Columbus has benefited him for).
I don't know what his headspace is like, but the thing I've noticed about him this year is he waits far too long to make his move on defenders, and turns over the puck a lot. He's not creating opportunities or getting shots like normal because he's constantly losing one-on-one battles in the offensive zone just because he makes a move too late. I think that's something a better coach could easily fix.
Not even going to hazard a guess at his value, but I think it would be dumb for Columbus to sell so low on him. He fits the timeline and fills a need if he can just...be Laine.
