Just as funny as claiming the player picked at 15 will be better than Dobson. Good luck with that.</div></div>
Sorokin is average i don't see how that is funny, Dobson is overrated because he played for a good defnesive team, he is an ideal #4

Trade targets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nightowl26</b></div><div>Washingon, Boston were better than us last year. They always are good in the regular season and they improved too. Ottawa got Giroux and DeBrincat. Columbus was 3 pts behind us got JG to go along with Laine and all that good young talent, plus they have a real nice goalie tandem. You can't agrue with NJ did Palat and Haula (who scored 18 goals on the 3rd line for boston last year), added a solid D guy in Marino.
I don't see how Romanov and Salo make our overall roster so much better. Salo is still a rookie, you don't know what you will get if he's in there on a regular basis. I'll give you Romanov but that doesn't make up the difference in how other teams have improve their rosters.</div></div>
And you have no idea what young players will do for other teams, or the older veterans that teams acquired will do.
The Isles have a better D then last year. Lee was not himself the 1st half recovering from the ACL and was much better after. Palmeri sucked the 1st half then started playing well, and Trotz killed Wahlstroms production.
They forward core is not elite, but if healthy and Lambert allowing Wahlstrom to play the Isles are a competitive team.

The blues D is already set. No need for mayfield anymore. Getting him just means we have to make more trades and I think the blues are done. Unless Mayfield can play LHD on the top pair there is no need for us to trade for him.

Bailey for Anderson is close. The extra cap, years and Bailey being the healthier of the two costs Montreal at least Calgary's pick and retention,,,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>There has been no legitimate connection between the isles and Habs on an Anderson trade. The winger the isles are looking for is someone who can put up 60-70 pts and play with Barzal. Requirements would be high IQ and being a good passer to play give and go with Barzal. Anderson has low hockey IQ and can’t make a pass to save his life.
The most legitimate source who’s spoken about Anderson is the fourth period who said the isles are not linked to Anderson.</div></div>
It is amazing how a blogger created the whole Anderson to NYI thing.

Dreams - with slight realistic things
Some truly awful but predictably horribly one-sided trades here. You've gone from the demonstrably questionable Anderson-and-26th-overall-for-13th-overall idea to adding Beauvillier on the Islanders' side. Here are some simple numbers that are born out much more forcefully by analytics:
Beauvillier over the last two seasons: 122 games, 27 goals, 62 points, 16:50 ToI
Anderson over the last two seasons: 121 games, 36 goals, 56 points, 17:14 ToI
Plus, as <a href="/users/TheHebrewHammer" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TheHebrewHammer</a> points out, Beauvillier is younger and his cap hit is 75% of Anderson's.
And even if you want to argue that Anderson is a better player than Beauvillier, because in your eyes only he is, that doesn't get you from #26 to #13.
Then there's the Buffalo trade, by which you think the Sabres would take on Jeff Petry in return for moving back from 9th overall to 13th overall while giving up Devon Levi. Being a Montreal fan and apparently a Quebec native, I would have thought that you'd have more insight into how the Sabres operation works.
And the idea that St. Louis would give up Binnington when Husso might not re-sign there and simultaneously taking on arguably the worst current contract in hockey is truly breathtaking. And that's without even considering the first-round draft pick!
You've outdone yourself here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jester9881</b></div><div>I'm pretty sure that discount he's asking for is only to stay in Nashville.</div></div>
If that’s the case NSH would be morons not to give it to him. I read the other sticking point is Poile doesn’t want to give Forsberg a NTC. Don’t understand why they are playing hardball for the best forward the team has ever had.
If he hits the open market, a “low 8” figure with NSH (on an 8 year deal) is a “mid 9” on a 7 year deal. I’d go $9.5x7 if it landed him, the 8th year just keeps AAV down. I think Forsberg is looking for about the market value equivalent. Nothing seems that unreasonable from his side

"hello lou? yes, I'd like to take your two best pending UFA assets back, with you retaining all the way on one of them.
oh, what am I offering? oh you're gonna love it, got some reallll good trash here for you. got a goalie who can't stay healthy and can't break .890 when *is* healthy, only $3.8M over the next 2 years. I've got a 34 year old LD on the downside of his career, you'll get him for two full years of decline at $5.625M. even though i already sent you one, i've got another goalie - he's a 25 year old that the Coyotes didn't think was worth keeping around, can you believe it?? .888 in 14 games this year, just absolute mediocrity. I've got a couple former mid-round picks that might turn into something, who knows, your problem now. And just to really put it over the top, I'll throw in a 2nd rounder three drafts away.
It'll add an extra $8M to your payroll, and we'll get the best two players in the deal. Whaddya say??"

Since when is JG Pageau a "bad fit" for the Islanders? I feel like there's this bad narrative around JGP that, since he was on a crazy shooting streak with 24 goals when the Isles traded for him a few seasons back, the he's supposed to be a 25-30 goal scorer, instead of being the 0.5/PPG player with a strong defensive game who is one of your top PK guys. I honestly don't know many(if any) Islanders fans who are clamoring to get him off the team, especially not for a guy like Dvorak who scores less and grades out pretty poorly defensively. He's a bad fit on the Habs, but a worse fit on the Islanders. The added kick in the teeth is trading down from a pick that will probably be around 75ish to something near 125 in that trade - the Islanders need prospects, they shouldn't be downgrading *any* picks this year without getting a better pick back in the future!
I appreciate you at least putting fair value on the Islanders taking back Mrazek AND retaining some of Varlamov's deal, but it won't happen. He's got an NTC with Toronto strongly rumored to be on it; and as far as Mrazek, the obvious move is for Toronto to buy him out and keep those prospects & picks. If (huge, huge IF) Varly wanted to waive for Toronto, there's other deals to be had that won't involve Mrazek.
That Winnipeg deal is just, bad bad bad bad. Winnipeg got him for two 2nd round picks last summer, and here he's going for recent 2nd round pick Robin Salo and the 1st you had Toronto send for Varlamov. So, obviously, this trade wouldn't happen because that 1st would still be in Toronto because of the above reasons, but it's also a bad fit. I'm sure there's a deal there with Winnipeg if the Isles wanted to pick up Dillon, but this is a big overpayment.
I *do* like you having Ghost be acquired to play LD, he would work well paired with a strong defender like Mayfield who lets him play the puck a little more; I just wonder if Arizona can get a better deal without retention from another team looking for that type of player. Ghost has really rebuilt his value this season, IMO.
The Niederreiter signing doesn't make sense. You've moved out Josh Bailey because right now he's a 3rd liner making $5M and not living up to that cap hit, and you've replaced him with a guy who's primed to do the same - Nino will be 30 by the time the season starts, and the Islanders don't need another older winger with a big cap hit clogging up the middle six. Not to mention, I don't know if Nino himself has too many fond memories of the Island - I don't anticipate him rushing to come back here.
This team is better than the current in LD2/LD3, sure - but I think you've significantly downgraded 3C and the backup goalie positions, all while putting this team right up against the cap. I honestly think this team would have a worse season than the 2021-22 Islanders have had - if Sorokin missed any significant time, they are completely boned.
