Chicago 24-25
-If CHI goes out and signs a guy like Roy, it will be for him to play with Korchinski. I highly doubt they sign a UFA LD unless it is just another Megna/Tinordi #7 type of guy.
-I think Celebrini and Reichel would be a great match for chemistry, and I'd be lookin to put them on the 2nd or 3rd line together.
-Kurashev likely stays on Bedsy's wing for next season. Their chemistry has been fantastic. Though, I would personally prefer to not base his next contract off of riding Bedard's coat tails. Because, as we saw with Bedard's injury this season, Kurashev was not producing without him.
-Taylor Hall will be back next season, not on LTIR. I like the Marchessault signing. I doubt Stamkos would sign with CHI.
-Vlasic is getting a lot more than that in his next contract. I could see it being up to $6M on the high end with term, and as low as $2.5-3M on the low end as a bridge deal.
-Moore and Rinzel are almost certainly playing another year in College, at the very least.
-Nazar likely plays at least a year in the AHL. But there is a decent chance he earns himself an NHL roster spot in camp.

Gushchin doesn't seem like the type Chicago has been targeting recently though. I think it's a hell of a package being offered for someone who hasn't produced after being hyped but the kid is still way too young to be a reclamation project imo. I think it's an overpay based on this year but an underpay considering his potential.

Trending upwards
Too many UFA signings. Okposo, Blackwell and Dreiger wouldn't be targeted. No need for Wennberg if Celebrini is playing 2C. Dickinson and AA won't be 4th liners.

Hawks decline. They aren't close to moving on from Reichel. And that package probably wouldn't get it done anyway.

That can easily be remedied by signing Patrick Kane's cousin Noah Kane. No need to add Evander and all his baggage.

Complete overhaul
Hawks easily decline. They are not a team that needs another LD, and they definitely want nothing to do with that contract. Unless Pens buy him out or retain a good chunk of his deal, Graves will be part of the Pens blue line for at least 2 or 3 more seasons.
And getting rid of Rackell won't be as easy as that either.

Harris can play in any situation. Just not really an offensive defenseman. Mike Reilly style. There is no place for him in MTL... We have to choice between him, Struble and Xhekaj. There is only one spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I'd like to think Korchinski puts on some more weight, matures a bit, and comes back next season having taken another step. But, I don't think they play favorites with him, he will be waiver exempt and his junior club won't be able to claim him. So, if someone outplays him in camp, I don't think CHI will hesitate to send him down. And rightfully so, you don't get real development by playing favorites and not demanding excellence. But I certainly could be wrong, they may see something in him that they need to get out at the NHL level where they can be more hands on with his development. It all depends how they are looking at it. But, I wouldn't take it for granted if I were him.</div></div>
KK, Kaiser, and EDM plus some sort of vet 7th D (Tinordi, Megna, or outside FA) will all battle for those last two LD spots. Vlasic, Jones, and Murphy are roster locks for obvious reasons, and I'd expect that they bring in another vet RD on a shorter contract. Allen needs another year I think so I wouldn't count on him yet

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>I do think Korch and Nazar should be in Rockford next year. I know some folks think Nazar can and should go back for a third year at Michigan but I’m curious if NCAA vs AHL is better for his growth.
Dont mind the signings. Appreciate you sticking to the plan of 1-2 year overpay contracts for veterans who can be flipped.
I think Kaiser has a leg up on EDM for a roster spot though. EDM and Allan will likely be injury call ups all season long just like Crev and Phillips were.
I wonder if Reichel would sign a Hagel deal, 3yr $1.5M. I’d guess not since he has to believe he’ll improve and if he does he’s screwing himself. But if he does improve depending on the state of affairs Hawks could also flip him like they did Hagel and get more future pieces.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Agree with Nazar in Rockford, don't agree or think KK will go back there. It’s tough to say if he’s aging and slowing down or if this is just one of his down seasons and we see the return of the 30 goal/60 point player next year.</div></div>
Very true, but for 60 pts you shouldn;t be looking at a 9mil cap hit, thats why I dont think he has value ALONE. You'd have to take a cap dump or add something or value for someone to take that, and ultimately theres players with higher upsides or youth not getting in there.
The fact that Mittelstadt was a agonizing decision to trade a 60+ pt player 24 yr old partly due to cap issues is a direct correlation to Skinner getting 9mil. No problem with the Byram swap, but what happens if Quinn and JJP put up a ppg in a contract year and both want a 5mil+ contract, will Sabres have to consider moving one of them because they dont have the money/cap?

I don't see any reason to sign skjei. Guentzel would probably hold out for a 7 year deal that the hawks should not be giving to anyone at this point in the rebuild.

I get the appeal, but I do not HOPE for any of these things. However, I do HOPE KD stays the course that he started, building from within, and taking the patient long term approach. Adding long term big ticket free agents is a possible recipe for disaster at the point in the rebuild. Just be patient, Joey. CHI has so much more work to do, drafting and developing young players, before we will see real progress reflected in the standings... Like YEARS more. I just watch a lot of prospects now and get excited about drafts, which makes watching the Hawks "unbearable" games not so bad when you realize the kind of talent we can bring in and watch grow into pro's.

Hawks won't be in the big fish FA market so definetly not signing Guentzel. Don't need a LD so no Skjei. Raddysh is terrible so he's definitely leaving as a FA and Reichel has done nothing to earn that contract if we're being honest
