I think it bridges between current success (e.g. Zegras as a semi-replacement), and future success.
If I am Anaheim, I wouldn't do this. Unless there is some reason you want to expedite your build, take on a huge contract, and sacrifice some assets that may be really important in a few years and still relatively cheap.</div></div>
Those players won’t be cheap in 2-3 years because they’ll all need extensions anyways. Getting EP40 who’s probably around the top 10 players in the league is hard to say no to when you have the assets to attain him without giving up Leo who you hope to be a franchise type player as well.

Monahan has 2 more points. He also has almost half of his on the PP where Henrique is at about 25% of his point total on the PP.

If it’s Leo you wouldn’t get another significant piece like a top 5 pick. Probably just Leo and the late 1st from Henrique trade plus some filler.

Correct. The note is just so people would see I offering the pick without any hesitation.
If it’s 3-5 range what needs to be added that’s not upgrading Zegras to Leo?

Retain half on Henrique. He’s also better than Monahan.

Petey
The ducks actually aren’t in a spot to take on Campbell in this scenario. EP will need a big extension in the offseason and then all of the kids will need raises in 2-3 years too. They will be tight to the cap and the Campbell dead money could be a hindrance.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Gudas is a very good dman but border line elite is really stretching it. His 33 is on a 3yr contract making $4M a season and his previous contract he was making $2.5M a season. If he was truly elite someone would've offered a lot more money. That being said I don't think Anaheim should make this trade and I also think it's poor asset management to use Berggren in a deal for a 33yr old dman.</div></div>
That’s why I said elite analytics. He’s a very good 2nd pair guy who’s underrated offensively. He’s also been the perfect partner for guys like LaCombe and Vaak to help develop their game this season. He’s worth every bit of that 4M for the ducks. And unless he falls off a cliff 4M is a solid number for a 2nd pair guy.
Berggren is also a bit overrated by DET guys. He’s not really a top 6 guy like a lot try to make him out to be.

I do. That’s not happening. Gudas is borderline elite based on his analytics or at least he was when I looked about a month ago. You’re not getting him for an overrated Berggren.

I’m not gonna argue the value of Zegras I’m just gonna ask 1. Why would the ducks want to trade Zegras? And 2. If they’re willing to trade him, why would they want futures?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>I haven't seen anyone hate him.
But he was just listed as the most over-rated player in the league. He is super skilled and talent and he scores highlight reel goals BUT he has been 1 dimensional so far and he has not taken his game to a super star level yet. He had 2 good star seasons but has regressed this year.
Zegras to the habs would be a very good and fun move for the habs!</div></div>
He’s played 20 games and his metrics are still very good. The regression narrative is just an unlucky shooting percentage.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>No I actually watched the guy in a video from the offseason laugh about the thought of trying in defense. Was talking with the interviewer about the coaches emphasis on defense in practice and he very sarcastically said “yay defense” and laughed. He then proceeds to play no defense. A smack in the face to his head coach.
“Players around the league are jelly” No they’re not 12 year old girls. They’re pissed that this guy is getting recognition when he wasn’t put any work in, doesn’t care about winning and only cares about getting a clip on sports centre. That includes your GM who is trying to trade the guy after lowballing him in contract negotiations and not wanting to commit to him long term. He will 100% be traded and this is why. And if you think he’s worth more than a 5th overall pick like that other guy, the return will not make you happy.</div></div>
So you watched an offseason video and made up your mind? That’s worse than just trying to fit in with the cool kids.
He also won’t be traded unless ANA land 1OA.

Frank isn’t an insider. That player vote is just jealousy because he got the promotion from the league. Bedard will be on the list next season.

Veterans and team leaders wouldn't be able to stand this guy. We already know that based on how the rest of the league views him. Most GM’s don’t want anything to do with him (I think Hughes will actually be one of them who won’t want him) Zero coaches will want anything to do with him. Ducks are in a tough spot. Kid doesn’t care about defense, cares more about getting on sports centre than winning hockey games. He’s a headache.
I agree we won’t get him, I think the Ducks are stuck with him because they’ll have to give him away for less that they want to and Verbeek won’t want to look bad. He’s not that good my man. Not good enough for most team to have to deal with the headache. Can only win with a guy like this if he’s sheltered and pampered.
The Dubois situation should teach most GM’s to stay away.</div></div>

8 year deal till hes 30 and then another 8 year deal until hes 38 >> bridge deal till 25, 8 year deal till 33 then if hes good enough, a 4-5 year deal, but most likely 1-2 year deals at a lower aav until he retires</div></div>
Where did it come out that he was furious? And if you say Seravalli then just know he’s an idiot.
To get a long term deal now he would have signed to a lesser AAV. Long term deals coming off a ELC don’t get top dollar. When the cap goes up he can sign for a the same % of cap but get more money. He bet on himself.

You should try understanding why ZEGRAS wanted a bridge deal a season before the cap will start its significant rise. He’s maximizing his money. When he’s due another contract the cap will be significantly higher so when he asks for X% of the cap, the dollar amount will be a lot more.
Matthews did the same thing with his short extension.
