<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>I’d be more than willing to take drake back. Trading him to Chicago wasn’t anything near the most damaging trade charelli made but might have been the stupidest. I would have fired him on the spot for acquiring manning.</div></div>
I am not waving a Charelli flag here, but in fairness, the Oilers were decimated with injuries on the blue line. Acquiring Manning was seen as a stop gap measure without it breaking the bank (asset wise) Manning’s tenure as an Oiler and sudden banishment to their farm team magnified the trade. There are far more devastating deals Charelli managed which make the Caggiula/Manning trade an after thought.

Unless JR expects a 1st (moving a goaltender), then this trade is going to crush him as Penguins GM. If there is any team who needs a draft pick in this deep draft, it is Pittsburgh.
I SEEN THE FUTURE OF PENGUINS HOCKEY, (3 - 5 years) and it is not pretty.

Next season realistic ish
Saad to Jersey is not a good fit. I see Saad being coveted by a club wanting to add depth for their playoff run, not on a rebuild. Saad would be a good fit in Boston if the cap can be managed. A lot will depend in the off season. Saad will probably remain a Hawk until the TDL.
It is too early to move Murphy, unless than the plan is too secure a high draft pick in 2021. Unless there is an able replacement, trading Murphy will leave a vacuum, and the Hawks defence will continue to suspect. There is no need to add offence (acquiring Tuch) The club has many creative offence players. Goals this club should aim in the next season. Have a top 10 power play, reduce shots on goal against.

Just a feeling - A few teams that need a re-tooling
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>l19f9</b></div><div>I think one of the issues with Edmonton is that they are Center heavy. You have McDavid, Draisaitl and RNH who can/are all 1st line centres. It’s not always about the best players. It’s about having the right players in the right positions. McDavid and Draisaitl at 1 and 2 Center is lethal. Neither should be playing the wing and neither should RNH. And RNH should not be 3rd line Center.</div></div>
I seriously gave thought to the Oilers moving Draisaitl during the off-season (last season). It would be unpopular but it would have immediate impact on the Oilers performance. Then again, look the the model ( the Pittsburgh Penguins ) and see how two elite centres contributed to championship teams.
The Oilers will be hard press to resign RNH. Move him while his value is high.

It is a blessing the Hawks got the opportunity to be in it. I don’t think realistically any serious Hawk fan thought there was a chance for a long run. They are a .500 hockey club. But this has been an opportunity for the kids to learn what it takes to be successful playing playoff hockey. If there had not been an pandemic, the players would have been playing golf in April.
There are positives since their devastating poor performance back in November (the games against Colorado come to mind) Their team speed is better. They have three lines that can score. Their power play in the playoffs has vastly improved. Defensive coverage is still an issue ... (growing pains while the kids come into the fold) Vegas is having their way in offensive zone. Too many odd man rushes ... too many uncovered passing lanes.

The guy had a 40 goal season. I doubt he will be moved. Unless it is done for cap issues. It makes for sense for Bowman to move Saad than DeBrinicat. All things considered, his value (DeBrinicat) is decreasing. Not a good time to trade him.

At this point in the Blackhawks’ retooling of the back end, I think Murphy should be considered “untradeable”. He is a sold 20+ minute defender & cap friendly player. I have said it before. Moving him, who would available to fill his vacancy? Keith can not be ask to continue to logged the amount of ice time he did while in his prime. Murphy can be ask to pick up some of the slack. There is no fear the team will be scored on when he is on the ice.

HUZZAH! MAKE TORONTO GREAT AGAIN!"</div></div>
All due respect, the Blues could lose their captain to free agency. Parayko is under contract for two more seasons at a respectable cap friendly value of $5.5 M. The Blues don’t need another forward making nearly $8 M. Nylander for Parayko straight up won’t do it.
The Leafs can win the next two games, but it will take a Herculean effort “team wise” to do it. What is overlooked is a short series ( 5 games) is momentum. Columbus coming back from 3 goals down resonates as momentum. Game 3’s miss opportunity now has the Leafs chasing momentum. They need to score first in game 4.

Whether people will believe it or not, Maatta is not problem. A +3 in the playoffs. I agree. This playoff is a gift for Chicago. The team can build for the future playing the kids.
Game #2 wasn’t that bad. Both teams have to tighten up defensively. The difference I saw from game #2 was Chicago on their power plays. It was what made them victorious in game 1. They absolutely must make the Oilers pay for taking penalties.
Crow is still capable of a great game.

Connor and Ehlers are signed up long term, but resigning Laine will destroy the Jets cap. Somebody will be moved.

Dvorak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>I'm one of the people saying Boqvist and Mitchell will pick up the slack. Boqvist played top pair this year with Kieth as well as top PP unit and looked pretty good. Mitchell is better coming in next season than Boqvist was last year and is better defensivly. He could easily play top 4 minutes, just depends on if JC lets him. And as most hawks fans have talked about on here is that Seabrook won't be in the press box most games. He will play the majority whether hawks fans like it or not. So if we ever want Mitchell to get top 4 minutes, murphy will have to be moved unless we can find a way to unload seabs (who won't waive a NMC anyways)</div></div>
Boqvist is still a kid. My observation was he didn’t do anything extraordinary (live up to the hype ... and I am the first to dismiss expectations. In most cases, it is impossible for an 18/19 year rookie to play to hype consistently.
There is no doubt in my mind that the three young defencemen the Hawks have will all be taking regular shifts on the big club soon, but now is not the time to move a young and cap friendly contract on defence for another forward.

Dvorak
Trading Murphy for a forward is the dumbest thing this team could do. I pose, do the Hawks need more offence? I put Murphy after Keith on defensive coverage, ice time, and the pk. With Murphy gone, and nobody coming back on the blue line, the Hawks defensive line becomes more thin.
There maybe people here who will suggest that Boqvist, Beaudin and Mitchell can pick up the slack. In time, that will happen, it shouldn’t be expected at this point in their careers.

Looking at the Coyotes stats, it is clear that Schmaltz is not a 1st centre. The players I would try and move are Stepan (thinking he best fit on team wanting to deepen their middle but his $6.5 M is a killer. The other player ( might not be popular, but you need to give up something to get something) Dvorak. Should be multiple teams interested.
Arizona needs a scorer. I would try and make a deal with Tampa (Palat) as Tampa will be face with a cap crisis this summer. I suspect the Lightning will need to move another veteran. Look how well Miller has played in Vancouver. The centres are out there. Arizona has to tap into teams up against the cap ( I am aware the Coyotes are in the same position.
I think Chayka did a lot of things right to make the team playoff bound. This season looks like a hiccup. May need to reboot. Clearly, the #1 priority is a legitimate 1st line centre
Lack of scoring has been their nemesis. Can’t blame goaltending here.

I doubt there's a move like that available for us though. From a business standpoint, we can't take another step back. But from a hockey perspective, I think it makes a ton of sense to sell off a few pieces and regather in two years.</div></div>

Depending on what he wants to do, the fact that his salary is only 4.5m with an 8.5m cap hit, that can be temping to teams who can weaponize their cap space.
Carolina would be an interesting fit, they have the cap space and their roster is already basically set next year.</div></div>
