Cap Circumvention Blows my Mind Every Time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Really? How Kesler help Vegas cap? Now trading 5m Dadadov to Ducks with no "active" cap being returned helps.
Tampa trading for LTIR Seabrook, didn't help the Tampa's cap. Trading 5m Johnson did.</div></div>
You are incorrect, my friend. By moving 5 mil out in Dadonov, Vegas is able to spend that much higher to the cap with that many more players. If they can get as many players as possible and as much salary as possible on the NHL team, they can then go almost 7 million dollars over the cap because of Kesler's LTIR. Vegas basically bought 2 million in cap space here.

On to the next trade
Don't forget that with bringing in those two SOLID bottom 6 roster players from Tampa Bay, this makes it a lot easier to move roster forwards like Borgstrom, Carpenter, and Kubalik without having to call up and expose their decent prospects, like Hardman, Reichel, Slavin, etc.

This line is Otter Worldly
First Impressions: I LOVE this trade for both sides. Sad to see Hagel go, but Blackhawks got more than fair value. I am stunned that they got (2) 1st round picks AND 2 young, good bottom 6 roster players. Obviously we can't grade this trade completely for about 5 years, no idea who/what those 1st round picks will be. But overall, I like this trade that absolutely indicates "REBUILD".

Should Dach Get Traded and Other TDL Stuff
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>Let's face the facts... we have seen enough out of Dach to draw a few conclusions about the type of player he is going to be in this league and that is not a point scorer. To be honest I'm not sold on his upside as a third-line center in a shutdown role either because of his abysmal faceoff ability. It's obvious that Dach is a BUST in the context of a third overall pick. However, he is still a useful player and could theoretically be a useful piece on a championship team assuming this team gets to that level eventually.</div></div>
Yeah in a draft where we could have had Zegras, Byram, Knight, Caufield, Newhook, Boldy, or Turcotte, Dach is 100% a bust unless next year is insane. Zegras is the best player out of the 2019 draft class and he was picked 6 spots later. Oof

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roysboy72</b></div><div>I like the trades and the forward signings, but it might be a better idea to keep Coghlan in the lineup and sign a veteran near league min to be the 7D. Also might be a little difficult to get all of those free agents to sign for those prices, but it’s possible.</div></div>
Mostly I was trying to think to myself "How can Vegas retain good forward scoring depth?" I don't know a lot about Elvenes, Quinney, etc. so I thought maybe some good middle/bottom six, 30 point potential players would be helpful.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>I've liked Strome in the limited minutes hes had this year, but the rest I agree with. I have to say, wasnt thrilled with the Jones trade/contract, and im still not, but hes been far from the issue since the first game. I just think this roster needs a deep cleanse. I think we could benefit from selling off some of the older guys and rebuilding around Cat, Dach, and Jones. After a couple of loaded draft classes.</div></div>
I'm partial to Kaner and Tazer so I don't wanna see em go, but I would understand if they wanted to leave. Other older guys (Johnson, Fleury, etc) can be traded if possible lol

Does a winless October cost Jeremy his job
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>I think it should. I've advocated on this website that I dont think Colliton is the big problem here, but hes definitely not a solution. Aside from the wallopings we got from Colorado and Pittsburgh (two of the top teams right now), our losses havent been system losses, but ones following individual mistakes. We will play good for stretches of the game, and when it seems like we are turning a corner, we have a brutal turnover or a blatant missed defensive assignment by Kane and we give up a lousy goal and all the guys mental gets ruined. As soon as we give up a goal, the fire goes out and we stand no chance. Fleury has been far from great as well which doesnt help. The players have to be better, and hopefully when Colliton gets fired they finally figure out how to play the damn game with some passion.</div></div>
You absolutely hit the nail on the head here. This ROSTER is loaded. On paper, this is a Third round playoff team. The problem is the mental toughness. They are all in their own heads. Patrick Kane, my favorite player by far, has been god awful this year. Seth Jones's offense is on point, but he's getting left out to dry with Fleury. He can't do everything at once. As I watch him, 3 out of 5 times, he has his man covered. He is one of the best two way defensemem in the league. He's not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination. everyone involved with the organization (players, staff, coaches, fans) are in just an awful mental state right now. They are starting to believe that they are a bad team and that each individual is doing a poor job and its hurting them. Special teams is on fire. Whoever is the special teams coach needs a raise. However, you can't play trap hockey with Kane, DeBrincat, Kubalik, and Jones. You just can't. The best defense is a good offense. They need to get rid of the players that are neutral (DeHaan, Gustafsson, Strome, Khaira, Carpenter). They don't bring good defense or good offense consistently enough. With the current roster, they need a coach that lets good offensive players play offense.

Will Seth Jones follow his brother Caleb to the Chicago Blackhawks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>I don't really see the point of wanting Caleb if the Hawks are not going to trade for Seth.
Once Caleb is traded to the Hawks, the odds of Seth wanting to sign an extension with the Hawks go up.</div></div>
Absolutely. I think the Hawks win the Keith deal all day long, even though Keith is still a great player and leader. He's the kind of guy Edmonton needs on their back end. They give up a roster dman in Jones for a roster Dman in Keith and the 3rd round pick covers the intangibles that come with Duncs. Jones, to the Blackhawks, is a bargaining chip for trade negotiations with Jarmo and Seth in Columbus. I easily see Strome, the 11th OVR pick this year, a 2nd next year, and possibly a young Dman prospect. Super excited for this offseason. I think Seth makes sense to come to Chicago. From Columbus to Chicago isn't that far. I don't know whether Seth cares about location, but if he likes the greater Columbus area he isn't going too far. Great deal and great moves being made in Chicago. Seth Jones could be the Dougie Hamilton of the Blackhawks rebuild. Since getting Hamilton, CAR has been good. Maybe the Hawks see more success by adding a bonafide top 2 defenseman who gets to play hockey with his little brother.

Also Nylander got market value.</div></div>

Assuming we don't move up, we will probably pick around 10. At that point in the draft, we are looking at players such as Kent Johnson, maybe Jesper Wallstedt, Aatu Raty, Dylan Guenther, Carson Lambos, and Simon Robertsson. We don't really need another center. I think the Blackhawks take Wallstedt if he's there but if not likely Carson Lambos. I think in the next 3 years, the D will look like

I agree, Strome is good and I really like him but I don't know where he fits. If Toews is done, maybe he stays but it's tight. A nice move would be like going to Minnesota and getting Jordan Greenway for Dylan Strome or maybe send him to Columbus for Domi or Atkinson
