LOL......
The Hawks have 8.5 million in cap space (they got about 5M more in that trade)... I don't know what planet you're on...... You obviously have no idea what LTIR even is because it's not the Hawks problem anymore..

The Hawks are interested in Pacioretty, the Habs need centers and the Hawks have one in Anisimov, so I'm expecting that deal within the next couple of days, perhaps today. It's already in the rumor mill... And in a deal where those are the main two pieces, the salary offsets itself which means the Hawks would still have 8.5 million left to spend to fix-up their defense.....
But the best part is that if the Hawks do acquire Pacioretty - they'll have more than enough to sign Panarin, DeBrincat & Schmatlz long-term - and IMO, I'm positive that was Bowman's plan all along....
It's going to be a very interesting next few days for the Hawks (and the league).....
But yea, Anisimov for Pacioretty - you can bet on that...

Mackenzie Entwistle seems like a sold prospect - big kid.. 2017 3rd round pick...
Hate to see Hinostroza go but the Hawks get 8.5 mill in cap space, Kruger - 3 prospects and a 5th....
I don't know how the heck someone could say Arizona won this deal - seems pretty fair to me..... Like I said, hate to see Hinostroza go (he was part of the future) BUT the Hawks actually got better with this trade...
The Hawks will have a TON of cap space next summer...

The Hawks got Kruger back, that's called progress......They also have $8,550,705 in cap space so the Hawks will be adding more players...
I have a feeling Bowman is going to make a run at Patches who will be a UFA next summer, while he sets himself up to sign Panarin next season.
Either way tho, Kruger will make a big difference in the bottom 6...Q knows how to use him..
I would expect Anisimov will be dealt next (probably for Patches).....

Karlsson, Ryan, Dallas, Chicago
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackBurton</b></div><div>Agreed, if I'm Ottawa and Dallas isn't willing to part with Heiskanen, I tell them to take a long walk to get fuckedville.</div></div>
IDK, it seems Dorion is in a pretty helpless situation... He's put himself in a situation where Karlsson dictates everything... If he's only willing to go to Dallas then what?.. What if Dallas only offers a 2nd round pick? what is Dorion going to do? refuse to trade Karlsson, then make him play this season..
It's a weird situation, and IMO I think it's holding up the rest of the league in what they're planning to do...... It seems Eirk Karlsson, not Toronto is the center of the hockey universe right now, lol..
One thing is certain tho, I just cant see a team taking both Karlsson and Ryan at their full cap hit/contract...... I mean I'm sure a team would do both Karlsson and Ryan for a 3rd round pick or something weird like that..... The fact Dorion is demanding that Ryan is included in any deal tells me that no team wants anything to do with Ryan's contract and he knows he has no shot at trading Ryan at all without him being attached to Karlsson......... That's why I made this 3-way proposal ... Ryan at 3.625 is reasonable but not 7.250....

Karlsson, Ryan, Dallas, Chicago
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>the CHI trade is interesting. I can kinda see it and i can kinda not see it. I HIGHLY doubt OTT will look to retain any bit of Ryan's salary, but this kinda is actually pretty mutual for both teams. i just dont know if Chicago would rather have Hossa's contract on IR for a full 5 mil of cap to play with in season. or an actual 2nd line winger in Ryan for 3.5 ish million.
But that DAL trade is a steal. If i was them i would take that and run. I get Karlsson for a top six forward, top 4 d man, and a first that will most likely be at 20th pick at least with Karlsson. and i get to keep my two best defensive prospects.... YUP. That would end Dorion's career as a gm.</div></div>
What Ottawa gets from the Hawks is cap hit which they will need if they're moving Karlsson and Ryan... Ottawa basically gets an 8.9 million dollar cap hit for 3.625 in actual salary... Of course Ottawa can go about hitting the cap floor other ways but you would figure a 5.275 cap hit for 1 million in actual insured salary would be tempting.... I mean if Ottawa can manage to deal Ryan they're going to have to take salary back in the deal - but they can avoid that by just retaining half of Ryan's contract and taking Hossa's cap hit...
I mean no team is waiting in line to take Ryan and his 7.250 cap hit and no team will without sending salary back, but like I said - Hossa's salary is only 1 million insured but carries a 5.275 cap hit..... The cap floor is 58.8 million and they're presently below that.
It will be interesting to see how this Karlsson/Ryan thing plays out - it's clearly holding up the league that's for sure.

Buckle up everyone! the rest of the summer is gonna be super exciting when all of these guys get traded since they haven't been re-signed yet!</div></div>
Buckle up, cant wait for the Toronto riots next summer! - because that's whats going to happen when Leafs fans wake up from their delusion and realize the salary cap applies to Toronto too.
"The Auston Matthews Riots"
Funny part is, a few months ago I implied that Toronto "technically" could sign Tavares and posters called that "crazy" because of the cap hell thing, but now it's not "crazy"...
Oh yea, that's right - Matthews, Marner & Nylander are going to sign sweetheart deals because you know - hockey's not a business in Toronto - it's about "hockey" and pleasing "the fans"....
There is no way in hell Toronto ISN'T going to have to move a few big contracts to fit these guys in - at the very least Marleau and Kadri.....
The better the Leafs do, the more these kids are going to get paid which is funny....
I don't know why Leafs fans just cant admit that this is their best opportunity to make a deep run because next summer they're going to have some problems...
I mean Nikita Kucherov just signed for 9.5 million - Matthews is going to want 13M, Marner 9M at least.... The notion that Nylander will sign a long-term deal for anything less than 7.5 is insanity....
Toronto is in a pretty unusual position right now and next summer.... If they sign Nylander to a long-term deal NOW, then next summer they're going to have issues getting BOTH Matthews & Marner signed - especially if the Leafs win the Cup.....
You cant bet Nylander wants a long-term deal, but he's not going to lock himself down for the next 8 years at 6.5 per, because he knows that he will be worth 8-9 million in 4 years...

Toronto Maple Leafs signed John Tavares (7 Years / $11,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Babcock_4_Mayor</b></div><div>If Dubas wants to play hardball with Nylander all he has to do is look no further than Nik Ehlers' deal in Winnipeg, who is set to make $6M per for the next 7 years starting in 2018-2019. So if the Leafs were to lock up Nylander for $6M per for 7 years, both players would make 7.5% of the $79.5M salary cap in 2018-2019. What makes these two players comparable is nearly everything. So using your metrics of age, potential and production for comparison you will see that Nylander and his agent are not in a position to demand $7.5M.
Age:
Both are 22 years old and were drafted in the first round of the 2014 draft (8th and 9th overall) and both signed their ELCs at age 18.
Production:
In two full seasons Ehlers scored 54 goals, 70 assists and 124 points (25 on the PP) in 164 games for 0.76 points per game, playing 16:30 minutes a night on average. In the same two seasons Nylander scored 42 goals, 80 assists and 122 points (38 on the PP) in 163 games for 0.75 points per game, playing 16:30 minutes a night on average. Both players have played with elite line-mates at both 5v5 and on the powerplay.
Potential:
Both players have the potential to be top line scoring wingers (which they already are). So judging by their past performance it is easy to project that both players will consistently score within the 60-70 point range over the course of a full season.
Thus, since many of the contracts in the league are decided by comparable player contracts, a precedent has already been set that a winger of Nylander's caliber, at his age, is objectively worth $6M per year. What statistics can his agent bring to the table that would merit his client being paid more? Maybe David Pastrnaks contract? lets see.
Pastrnak is also 22 years old and signed his ELC at 18.
In the same two full seasons, he has scored 69 goals, 81 assists, and 150 points (50 on the PP) in 157 games for 0.96 points per game. Making it likely that he gets 70-80 points a year in a full season.
He makes $6.6M per season which started in 2017-2018 meaning he made 8.8% of the $75M salary cap, which for Nylander would only come out to $6.9M per year. However, based on production and potential it does not appear that he deserves as much as Pastrnak.</div></div>
Nylander is probably going to be traded for a cost controlled defenseman...... Funny how he's not signed yet.
I mean the notion that Toronto fans believe the leafs can somehow defy the salary cap is pretty amazing - especially when it's simple math..........But yea I forgot, those young kids don't care about getting paid market value.....
And it's funny, you keep on referring to contracts that were signed a while ago...... There is a reason why Crosby only makes 8.7 million - right because he signed his contract 5 years ago when 8.7 was tops in the league...
You're joking yourself if you think this is all going to workout without any cap issues at all....
Nylander will probably be traded -- and you can bet if some GM's want to get nasty they give Nylander an offer sheet and really force Toronto's hand, the same can be done next summer with Matthews and Marner if theyr'e not signed to extensions........ And to be honest with you, If I'm Lou - you can bet your ass I will offer-sheet anyone of them considering they lost Tavares for nothing....

Kapanen brown johnnson grundstrom lindholm all cheap and w team control for few years

Doesn't matter, teams will offer-sheet him if he doesn't at least get that money.. Nylander knows that, so Toronto is going to have to make an offer-sheet proof offer to Nylander.. Leon Draisaitl was RFA as well, so was McDavid and so were all the big name RFA stars when they got paid..... Toews and Kane got 6.75 when the salary cap was at like 65.. lol

$6,088,981 to $8,118,641 - A first, second & third round pick(s)...... No doubt a team with cap space would gladly offer-sheet Nylander and Toronto would have to match or move on.....

The cap went up - that means salaries go up too, the only comparable to Matthews is McDavid, and no doubt Matthews will get McDavid money if not more. 12.5
Marner is going to want Draisaitl money and he will get it 8.5
Nylander is going to want 7.5 at least..
Look, JVR just got 7, are you saying Nylander at his age isn't worth more than that?
Toronto is going to be in cap hell with 40 million tied up in 4 players..
And the notion that these kids will just take a "discount" isn't going to happen - this is the first huge contract these kids are going to have to get paid and they're going to want as much as possible, because who knows, they could get injured 2 years down the road and they're no longer the player they once were - but at least they will be set for life... So you better believe they're going to get paid...
I mean at the very least Toronto is going to have to dump Kadri and Marleau..
The notion these guys are going to take lowball offers is just insanity when you look around the league and there are guys that aren't as good as them making more .....
Age, potential, production and comparisons is how you determine these salaries - not what you believe they are "subjectively" worth..

Chicago Blackhawks signed Brandon Manning (2 Years / $2,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>As long as Boqvist doesn’t play 10 games in the NHL in the next couple seasons we can slide his ELC for an extra year. Signing him means we have more control in his development, while also having the flexibility to get an extra year on his ELC when he is ready.
(as the person actually running this account I can assure you that the Cam Ward and Kunitz signings are worrisome at least)</div></div>
The Ward signing is the worst when you compare what BETTER goalies signed for.... I could really care less about the Kunitz signing... But the Ward signing and Manning signings are TERRIBLE..
Kunitz is fine as an extra forwards, but it looks like he will be playing in the top 9 probably 2nd line LW...
And watch, Crawford will NOT be ready in October, Ward will be the de facto starter and the Hawks will get shelled every night.... I bet Ward ends up starting and is replaced by Delia as the #1 my November while we get the same "Corey should be back soon rhetoric" from Bowman all season long..
I hope I'm wrong but I think Ward is going to end up being like Khabibulin in his second stint with the Hawks, a GAA of 4.73 and a .880 sv/%...... I suspect Bowman will be fired before the end of the year...
Bowman isn't going to be a member of the Blackhawks organization by the time Boqvist is NHL ready... He basically drafted a player that HE thought had a future with the Hawks, odds are Boqvist will never play with the Hawks because we will have a new GM & coach within a year...
This is the end man, game over..
I really hope I'm wrong, but IMO - I don't think I am....
To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement..
To make matters worse all the guys that could have helped the Hawks are signing cheap deals that the Hawks could have easily afforded... Instead Bowman is signing all the wrong players at ridiculous contracts..

I’m not supposed to say this, but the plan is Jack Hughes.</div></div>
Seriously, these are literally the worst signings, this is a waste of cap space..... I wouldn't mind any of these guys a 1m per to play depth roles but Cam Ward at 3M is ridiculous, it's totally unhinged especially when Hutton just signed for 1.3... Had Bowman gave Hutton 3M I could live with that.....
Cam Ward is worth 1.5 TOPS, but I would expect him to be more like a camp invitee type .... Bowman should have signed him for 1M because that is all he is worth - he sucks and I have ZERO faith Crawford will be back in net come October, I expect Cam Ward to be starting all season and at this point I DO EXPECT THE HAWS TO TANK while Toews, Ketih & Kane age another year and while Boqvist burns another year on his ELC...
Bowman has proven over the last several months he shouldn't be an NHL GM....
Now unless Bowman has an ace up his sleeve and he's trying to work a deal for Karlsson & Ryan then this team is totally SCREWED...
Yea nice top 6
Saad-Toews-Debrincat
Kunitz-Schmaltz-Kane
Hayden-Anisimov-Hinostroza
Edjsell-Kampf-Sikura
Keith -Oesterle
Manning-Seabrook
Gustafsson-Murphy
Ward
Crawford
That is crap, It addresses NONE of the Hawks needs at all - none, they're still extremely inexperienced and on one on the Goddamn team can win a draw it save their lives, they have no experienced 2-way bottom 6 guys that know what they're doing ..... It's a tire-fire waiting to happen...
The Hawks are no longer contenders because of asset mismanagement ...
I expect Bowman to be fired by December because he clearly has no idea what he's doing ... For the sake of this team I hope I'm wrong (I rarely am tho) and I hope these young players are ready to play like NHL vets, because it appears to me that Bowman has no idea what he Hawks weaknesses were last season, that or had no intention to improve them...
This team is going to fail, fans will stop supporting this team hence there will be no money to sign good players, or keep good players and the Hawks will be where they were at 15 years ago...

Toronto Maple Leafs signed John Tavares (7 Years / $11,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kaljakori</b></div><div>Current cap space: ~13,6M.
Let's assume Nylander and Johnsson make in total around 8M. Now there's 5,6M cap space.
LTIR Horton and you have another 5,3 to use. 10,3 cap space now.
Dump Marleau next july 1st after his bonuses get paid, to a team who needs to reach the floor. 17,5m cap space.
Dump Martin's contract. 19,65m cap space.
Hainsey comes off the books. 22,65m cap space.
Assuming they're gonna promote from within, Gardiner comes off the books. 26,7m cap space.
Now we're at July of 2019. There's plenty of cap space to sign Matthews, Marner, Carrick and Kapanen. Any of the other guys down in the AHL can be extended with cheaper deals by this point or let go.</div></div>
Matthews is getting at least 12m, possibly 13m, (around 12.5) Marner will get Draisaitl type money 8.5, Nylander will want 7m.... That's 28.M locked up in just Matthews, Marner & Nylander.....Factor in Tavares' 11 per and you have 39M locked up in just 4 players - that is half of the damn salary cap right now...
The Leafs cannot afford:
Tavares - 11
Mattews -12.5
Marner - 8.5
Nylander -7
You cant have 39 million locked up into 4 players and expect to fill out the other 21 pieces of the roster with 41 million...
Leafs fans will be in total denial next summer..
You better hope the Leafs win a Cup this season because they will certainly be in cap hell this summer........

Chicago Blackhawks signed Cam Ward (1 Year / $3,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Hutchinson, 6 years younger, signs for 1 year $1.3M deal. This Cam Ward deal for $1.7M more looks worse then it already did.</div></div>
Stan Bowman needs to be fired ....... I've been a long-time defender of his but Hutton signs for 1.3 and he gives Ward 2x that mount?????? And you can bet Bowman was the ONLY GM that had any interest in Ward to boot, Ward would be begging for a job come late August - early September, he would end up being a camp invite had Bowman not gifted him 3 million...
Bowman had a real opportunity to improve this team and he totally screwed the pooch ...... "The kids" will either be amazing next season or this team is tanking ..... I wouldn't be shocked if Toews, Kane and Keith ask to be traded at some point this season or next.....
