Yes let’s intentionally be bad instead of intentionally be good. At least that easier.
Red wings should rebuild too. They will not be making playoffs. The oilers have more points than them with games in hand

There’s no cap crunch dude. Roy Carter and foligno all would be coming off the books plus the giant cap increase coming this offseason. Plenty of room
If there isn’t cap room for some crazy reason, you can put on the big boy GM hat and trade a guy too.
I’m living in the now. Sid Crosby is still a top 5–10 player in the world and I’m not giving up on him.

A first a third and a prospect is fairly standard for a top talent

Kubalik ain’t great but surely scoring 20 goals twice in the last five years is better than whatever the heck POJ does

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coleharborcrosby</b></div><div>That’s not true. POJ is a fine player on any team as a 5-7 D. will never light it up offensively but skates well and makes the plays he needs to. Penguins have too many players like him though and need a different look there which is why the like Ludvig.</div></div>
He can’t crack our lineup when we are fully healthy and we aren’t exactly a top team. Hes not that good. He will always be a tweener. Too good for AHL, not good enough for NHL

PENS DEADLINE 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>Try 7 points bud 58 for Detroit and 51 for Pittsburgh. And even with 4 games in hand and all wins only puts you at 59 and Detroit will win some of their games as well. Even if Pittsburgh gets 3rd in the Metro Detroit will still have more point than them even if we finish at wild card 2 Pittsburgh needs to win all 4 games in hand and Detroit lose all 4 games. Sorry dude that's not happening.</div></div>
Dude we aren’t trying to catch the red wings right now idk why you think that. It’s a weird angle to say we will miss the playoffs because we are behind them when a non wildcard spot is wide open for taking in the metro right now
The last half of your paragraph makes me think you don’t know how the standings work
If the pens are third in the metro they do not need to catch the red wings. The red wings are in the Atlantic division, they cannot get a metro spot. We are 5 points back of the FLYERS with 4 games in hand. We do not need to catch the red wings right now, that would be nice insurance though.
We need two games and an overtime more than the flyers over the next 35 games. We are playing our best hockey, they have been sliding.
Edit: checked username, makes sense now why you think only the red wings matter here
How do you expect the red wings to make playoffs when Vancouver clearly has more points than them, check how far behind they are!

PENS DEADLINE 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>:laugh Pittsburgh aren't going to be buyers this season, They're already quite a bit out from Detroit for the final wild card spot. Those trades for Chychrun and Hanifin are a joke. And Edmonton can't afford Jake Guentzel long term. And that's all that Pittsburgh needs is that locker room cancer in Evander Kane.</div></div>
Pens won’t be getting a wildcard spot they will finish 3rd in the metro. Go check the standings bud. 5 points back with 4 games in hand and the flyers starting goalie is going to prison

Deal kakko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>Ya i wont deny the impact moving guentzel will have on the team, but fans of teams love to assume their guys are eager to resign. What if he isnt? What if he walks? Getting nothing for him sure would be a heck of a lot worse for Crosby and the whole team. I don't really think the ball is in Pittsburgh's court here. Their future isn't phenomenal so we cannot assume he's going to stay or even take a sign and trade.
There's a lot of factors here, and I won't even deny that your route could be feasible, but we cannot laugh at offers and say what will/won't happen when we really don't know. In a rental situation, he's not getting Laf.</div></div>
I can and absolutely did laugh at an offer as ridiculous as the one made here.
Will Jake re-sign? I do not know. But the pens will not trade him to the rangers for magic beans.

Deal kakko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>ok guentzel is in your name so this counter is obviously riddled in bias. i agree that there's a divisional tax, and i agree that the offer is short, but cmon, laf for guentz 1 for 1 would be stupidly lopsided. This counter is 5 times worse than the original. Othmann 1st is the highest I could see the pens getting, and imo that's steep too. Rentals simply do not get massive packages regardless of their upside.</div></div>
Guentzel is the type of player people hope laffy become. And he’s got it done when it matters most. I do not presume the penguins would sell Jake guentzel as a rental that’s a ridiculously bad idea. That gets the least amount of value out of the second most valuable player on the team. Pens will not trade Jake guentzel, but if they did it would be sign and trade.
Trading Jake guentzel and rebuilding could also trigger Crosby wanting to cup chase with other teams. Why for gosh sakes would a company buy the pens for a billion dollars and then fumble away the face of the franchise in less than two years? The price of this risk is simply too great for the rangers to convince the penguins.
If you want Jake guentzel, the cost is extreme. I would not suggest trading for him

If they, a division rival, want to acquire Jake, they will need to give up Lafreniere and a 1st.
And the decision to play a 40 goal scoring first line LW Stanley cup winner as a 3rd line RW is WILD. Him being behind Kane and Laffy on this depth chart gotta be one of the goofiest things I’ve seen in a while
