So we're supposed to take a bust and a LHD as part of the trade, but then we don't bother to sign either one of them?
I liked the idea of bringing Whalstrom in as a reclamation project previously, but I think the time for Anaheim to be able to bring those types of players in has past. SJS, CHI, maybe PITT are homes for Whalstrom now

2 Round Mock Draft with Explanations
Between Mintyukov, Zellweger, and LaCombe, I would be shocked if the Ducks took a LHD with our first even in Leshunov is off the board. Maybe we trade back, maybe we take a forward, maybe we grab one of the other RHD at our pick, but I don't think we're taking Silayev.

Making tough choices for the future
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SpiderSpiderSpider28</b></div><div>What's infuriating from a Flyers fan perspective is that in hindsight (and honestly I said this well before he was extended) Tippett by leaps, bounds, valleys and miles would've made the most sense to trade in a package for a player like Zegras. Like you said, TK has some questions regarding his age and long term fit, and at this point Foerster is simply too good to justify moving (I'm not sure the general public has fully caught on to how good this kid is, I think he's a special player). The long term fit was never there with Tippett, and now we're stuck with more than we know what to do with...</div></div>
I mean, you still can. His trade protection doesn't kick in for a couple of years.
That said, this is also Zegras were talking about, he's also a very special talent.

I'd say TK is too old to be the main part of the trade, if we're sending out Zegras, we'd be looking for a piece that'll be around as long as he can. Frost not only doesn't close that gap for us, I don't think he has a home on our roster.
You've got an overabundance of RW, it makes sense to exchange that for a center, but from anaheims POV, it's got to be Foerster or Tippett, and you guys just got Tippett signed to a sweetheart deal, and there'd be a strong preference for Foerster by Anaheim, so the add would be a lot higher on Tippett.

For a couple meh prospects, a late first, and a cap dump, you can have Ryan Strome, not Trevor Zegras

Real curious what Dubas intends to do, is he going to try and refresh what he can where he can and let the boys take another crack, or start dismantling?
There's prescious little time left for the core so any retool has to happen on the fly.

The Twin Towers in Utah overtake the Grand Canyon
I know the 25 1st isn't intended to be the headline piece in the trade, but as still a significant piece, that's not an idea Anaheim likely takes as giving Zegras to the team before that pick likely leads to the pick being a fair bit later.

Dobson would probably take Zegras, maybe + Luneau on top of Z.
Cams not getting anything near that return, on top of there being no bidding war for his services, he's looked not great as of late.

Any belief that Zegras is a distressed asset is misguided fantasy. He's been scoring at his expected rate since returning from injury, and that's including the couple of games it takes to knock the rust off, and has been centering the 2nd line in that time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLaveragefan</b></div><div>Sure - but sometimes - lets say you rate Levshunov a 90, and Parekh a 87/88 - then, getting a extra first and a yound D to end up with Parekh is not bad business.
Or, depending on the interviews - a player might score a 90 in skill - but he doesn't fit the team culture, then 87 may become more attractive (Imo, that what I think happened when the habs selected Reinbacher and they let Michkov slip to 7th)</div></div>
The main counter argument to that and staying with the "take who you want" comes down to our GM, he's got a Give a F*** rating of zero, if there's any risk to him not getting his guy, he probably won't take the deal.
But who knows, maybe he feels like wheeling and dealing this year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Selke level defense doesn’t show up on the score sheet. Bedard was horrid on defense. Zegras would be a Flyer without trading Tyson. It doesn’t matter what any of you think Briere would want to trade for Zegras to play with Tyson lol. If ur trading away Tyson it defeats the whole purpose.</div></div>
And you fail to grasp the concept that elite talent comes at elite talent cost, so no, Zegras wouldn't be a flyer without Foerster.

It's an interesting proposal, and it really comes down to who we're looking at and where they're expected to go. Leshunov is top 2-3 on almost every trade board, bit I've seen some with Parekh going top 5 with Yamechuk outside the top 10, and some with Yamechuk going top 5, and Parekh outside the top 10.
Assuming we'd be happy with one of those three, it might be a gamble worth taking, but I might want a more usable player like Kovacevic instead of Barron, as I don't see Barron as a fit with the Ducks who have no need for his offensive abilities.
I'd also imagine this doesn't happen until after the lottery, in case that wasn't obvious.

Yeah, were willing to trade LaComve, but for someone who will still be relevant in our cup window, it would be a hockey trade for someone of equal age and skill level.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Let’s be real man ur not getting Tyson he’s probably a top 5 candidate in Calder this year even tho he isn’t getting any hype. Basically same goals as Bedard with Selke level defense as a rookie. Brink or Frost I could see moving but if the Flyers trade for Zegras I can promise you Tyson isn’t involved.</div></div>
Then let's be real man, if he isn't, you're not getting Zegras, who was 2nd place for the Calder his rookie year.
And this is before we point out how charitable you are being comparing Foresters goal scoring to Bedard when you discount the difference in games played this season and kind of talent each player was (or wasn't) playing with.

Anaheim Ducks signed Cutter Gauthier (3 Years / $1,900,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kckrebs</b></div><div>This is just made up. Cutter nor his reps came out and said anything as to the reason why he no longer wanted to be a Flyer. Briere was the only one that spoke publicly about it and said he had a contract ready for him. Until the other sides claims something different we're left assuming based off 1 sides comments.</div></div>
I believe I was very specific when I said "he told the org he wasn't signing" as in he told the Flyers, not the public, which was a kindness he didn't owe the org to keep it quiet and keep his trade value high.

What we have all heard is enough attrocious offers for Zegras. If you want him, one of MTLs 24 1st, Reinbacher, or Slafkovsky is going to Anaheim, simple as that, elite talent comes with elite talent cost.

Hronek - Leafs Perspective
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ktownchef</b></div><div>Canucks actually have a ton of leverage since he has to sign with us or be traded to anywhere we want because he doesn't have any trade protection.
The deal would not be an overpay. The late first is decent but not great and Liljegren does not have the value leaf fans continue to think he does around the league. He's 7 years removed from being a first round pick and still doesn't crack the lineup every night on a team that let's be honest doesn't have a great defense. I agree with you that Hronek needs a good partner to hit his peak potential.</div></div>
The only reason he wouldn't sign in Vancouver is that he wants to much money, and that would be known league wide, thus limiting potential suitors.
