My guess is Johansen, Drouin, Colton, Wood? New guys, guys thinking theyre playing well (stats) but not following their system, his example was 15 guys playing properly and the rest aren’t. Johansen and Drouin I think by names you’d expect them, then colton and wood both getting paid for the first time with term maybe that plays a factor

What is Timmins status
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>If that's what's going on the NHLPA would likely kick up a fuss. Timmins being forced not to play despite being able to do so would limit his earning capacity so why would he agree to that? If he misses too many games nobody will pay him well when his contract expires next off-season.</div></div>
True my thing is just that the cap situation here is weird
They actually can’t afford him and run 20 skaters, then there’s the risk of losing him on waivers which is high cause he actually played games last season. Third he probably is injured. I’m guessing Minton getting sent down will align with Timmons coming off ltir then they run 11 and 7 till a subsequent move is made

I think a team like Carolina that folded during the eastern conference finals might value a player that captained two cup winning teams. It’s a GM locker room thing than an analytics thing.

2023 Lightning Offseason Discussion
Just putting this here cause I thought it was cool, from Chris Kenn "For everyone asking, the #Bolts did have 23 on the roster when it was submitted to the league. They accomplished this with a paper transaction that sent Merela to Syracuse as he doesn’t require waivers. Now, he’s back on the roster & corresponding moves will follow in short order"
Tampa's being praised on twitter for the watson contract and how they maximized LTIR space which I didn't understand initially. The Watson move was to maximize Seabrook's cap hit not Vasilevskiy's. They sent Merela down so it was Watson, ABB and Fleury as the extras with Tomkins in and Vasilevskiy on IR. This left them was $2 cap hit left thus successfully maximizing whatever space they could of Seabrook's LTIR pool. Then they moved Vasilevskiy to LTIR and quickly recalled Merela back up. I guess since during the season they don't have to be right at the ceiling, when Vasilevskiy comes back they could just send Merela back down and have the +2$ left or if they really like Merela they send down two of ABB/Watson/Fleury

That might be just a Dubas thing I thought it was dumb to let hyman go for nothing when they could've got a 6th. Rolling the dice on a 7th round pick vs nothing is crazy this isn't the real world its a competition I'd think whatever small edge a GM can get they take.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LordStanlersCup</b></div><div>With Vasy on ltir they can have a 23 man roster until vasy comes back and then we would have to go back down to a 22 man roster unless like you said we waive bogo and 2 league min players replace him leaving about $12k in cap space left. Or they could just trade myers or maybe he gets claimed after they waived him.</div></div>
Best case scenario Myers claimed by tomorrow. Yea I think they can just keep moving guys up and down when they have the 23 man roster, Merela looked good I like his size and his net front prowess? Fill in some of the hole killorn left. Issue is when Vasy comes back but we don't have to be perfect to the ceiling at that point since its the middle of the year and enough guys have moved up and down till that point that we don't have to worry about waivers for a while

2023 NHL Offseason Discussion Thread #4 - The quiet period

I’d keep him if he were worth 10 mil I don’t think 40 goals is worth it like pasta had 60 and is making 11.5, there’s centres that make less and scored more like point and Thompson, he doesn’t play pk, he’s demoted to third line sometimes, his lines are usually below .5 in GF% with primarily offensive zone starts, the matthews line always gets the toughest match ups, it’s a case of putting a star player lower in the lineup to give him more breathing room but he takes it and runs with it and now wants to get paid like he was on the top line. Keefe/Tre are doing the right thing here putting him at center you want 10 mil go back check, be the first one in your own zone, his offensive output will dip cause it has to
