I didn’t follow him last season, but he wasn’t too impressive in the WC last I saw him. When he is on form he is entertaining to watch. You feel he has improved his consistency and strength on the puck?
Then again, I am ignoring some people haha…

If healthy (non-covid) he will likely put up a 95 point season this coming season. To me he is number one. He only struggled last season because of a bad case of covid but when he got going he was one of the best forwards in the league, the only player that would have a shot at cracking Canada’s roster.

Betting Eichel situation is not resolved in time. Buffalo should give him his operation. Then recovery time and hitting form becomes a question. Sad, because USA with Eichel is the most serious contender to Canada.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles10</b></div><div>I know all of this, its not based on objective value, just what I want to see. I still think Karlsson could be an offensive-only impactful player in a short tournament, especially playing next to one of the leagues best defensive defenseman in Brodin. I think Arvidsson could have a rebound year playing with Kopitars elite playmaking. If not, hes not in.
Regarding Pettersson and Nylander; its a small sample size. And I believe they could work just great with each other, feeding of each others strengths. Its weird to see playdriving as something negative in this case, thats what you want your best player in every top-6 role to be able to do.</div></div>
Top 6 is obvious. That’s why it’s great to split them. It’s not necessarily that they cannot play together, the question is if the team becomes stronger or not, if you do. Our opinion/guess here may differ. As Zib also is a strong playdriver, and I would love to see physical strength in one wing in the two top lines. Also Nulander played very well with Backstrom who sees little to no decline.
With Arvidsson, I hope you are right, that he reaches good form to be a strong contributor on his own and that coaches are not blinded by numbers in too large part generated by Kopitar. I believe it is likely they will demote him if he isn’t strong though so it will be easy to judge anyway. In my experience or observational guess, it seems once a player is in decline about 90% of the time or so they never come back to form, but continue downward. However, if the real problem is just injury, and hd is truly healthy now, perhaps we can hope for that resurgence. I prefer players in form either way, instead of big names.
With E Karlsson I cannot completely disagree with your reasoning, just to say he can be very bad when bad. And Sweden is loaded with defence that don’t make a lot of mistakes if they step in. Here again, I hope he is completely injury free and finds his old self, and deserves a spot. It would be fun in that case to see a pairing of Hedman-Karlsson playing 25 min a game.

It will be interesting to see if any of the young longshots has a chance of making the team if they make the NHL roster. Thinking of Raymond, Eklund primarily. If those players make the team, both their NHL employers have indicated only top 6 roles are planned for them. As usually 2-3 good players fall off to injury just on the forward side, Sweden could use a boost of creativity if that happens so they don’t end up with a grinding team similar to 2014 in Sochi, reaching the final but without enough players to pass and keep the puck against the best. Granted, they were very unlucky then. One creative line is not enough against Canada. Imagine the group above without Forsberg, Pettersson and one more top player and you see the drop in creativity. I think Höglander may have a shot. It is a 60 man or so pre selection first.

Hedman - Larsson
Brodin - Karlsson
Lindholm - Klingberg

A few of those players are a combo of injury-ridden and/or out of form. Arvidsson, E Karlsson, primarily. Also, Pettersson and Nylander played together in a WC and it went so bad they had to split them up. I think they might contribute better in different lines as both thrive with the puck.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BallPuckFellow10</b></div><div>You answered your own question. Sweden brings in players that might be out of form. I am speaking strictly on what they tend to do and have done in the past. Would I personally do the same? No definitely not. I am very aware of the downfall of Karlsson and OEL. They are not the same players as they once were but to suggest they might just get limited roles on this team is just uninformed and wrong. Rakell had literally no one to play with this past world championship. Look at past tournaments when he played with good players for Sweden, his stats are insane, but I guess you didn't want to bring that up. It's not like I said Eriksson Ek won't have a chance to be on the team, it is just that we have other players like Backlund that has more experience playing such a role for us. My team would 100% include JEEK. Your opinion about Larsson is just completely wrong. If you did a little bit of research you would know that he was exposed as the Oilers knew they weren't going to be able to resign him. He wanted to leave. He signed for $4Mx4, something he could have got if he stayed in Edmonton. He is not on some decline like you are talking about, he is one of the league best defensive defenseman and has had an upward trajectory for the last 3 years, I suggest you start watching some of his games. Arvidsson is someone that would come in as an energy player. It doesn't matter if he isn't in goalscoring form. What he does for Team Sweden is to bring energy with his work rate and determination. It is something that spreads around to the team in a positive way. The same applies with Hörnqvist. He brings good energy to the team in a different way from Arvidsson.
Höglander could be invited to camp to see and learn from all the Swedish pro's, same with Jesper Bratt. They won't be on the team, that is for sure. Not unless one of them really breaks out and becomes close to a ppg player. I would say Bratt has a bigger chance than Höglander.</div></div>
You are doing the mistake you claim I did, much more so. I laughed so much I cried when I read your reasoning and escape route with your silly reasoning lol Especially pretending people to be posting teams only as they believe Sweden would “look” and not what they think they should look hahah…Energy player, your miscalculation of JEEK, Rakell’s play at WC, close to ppg player etc Anyway, I am still laughing as I am reading this but unfortunately I won’t spend anymore time considering you, simply not any time to think about silliness... I doubt I will look in here in this thread again lol haha

Sweden 2022 Olympics Roster - The Youngsters make it
Absolutely. But this was a fun team where I assumed the two would get in. Granted, if both make the NHL team, they will both get top 6 roles and may have great rookie campaigns. It is unlikely both do, and also unlikely both are included in the 60 man pre tournament selection, as Swedes have a history of relying too much on experience rather than form and creativity, neglecting young players at times because they haven’t learned enough defence, fair but also blind to the fact that creative players often bring the ability to carry the puck to the opponent zone where grinders can’t, and it’s hardto score from your own zone. But I have a feeling it coukd be a mistake if they make their teams as both have star potential, and given likely injury and form issues with a few of the creative core players Sweden would need them if say players like Pettersson and Forsberg are injured, and say Rakell, Arvidsson have continued down years. It may strand Sweden with just two and a half lines of just grinders, and no chance against the top nations. So obviously the creative players on this team would be reduced come Olympics. Remembering how badly the team was decimated in 2014 due to injuries and form issues they had no chance with Canada. Finland and USA have been better at selecting young talents than Sweden.
If one of them has a great year and happens to be selected that woukd be fun, though.
Realistically the 4th line would have one more grinder I guess.

Something like that, barring llikely injuries on some top players, is not too unlikely. However, Rakell needs to find his old self. Both Arvidsson and Erik Karlsson need to be injury free and find their former selves for this team to not substitute those three.
An not unlikely option to be ableto battle Canada, which will be stacked on all four forward lines, might be to put Pettersson on the right wing, where he played in his sensational rookie season, in order to have two elite lines, and then a third and a fourth line that is skillful but also containing good defensive players like those you have chosen.
If all these players are healthy and on form, very unlikely, I think packing three elite centers running a line each like you have is preferable and hope our defence performs a bit betterthan Canada’s.

Sweden 2022 Olympics
I have to admit I doubt that Erik Karlsson and Rakell will find their form to the tournament, mostly because I believe Karlsson won’t be injury free and Rakell has been struggling in both Anaheim and in the WC last. It feels like Sweden needs a playmaker who can keep and distribute the puck in the 4th line, so they don’t only have grinders though.
Burakovsky has breakout potential, scoring a lot compared to his ice time already and is usually not playing with the superstars in Colorado. Sweden needs a youngster or rookie to have a surprisingly good season as a couple of the players above will likely be injured. Fingers crossed though.

Rakell was in very bad form in WC. Arvidsson has injury problems. Erik Karlsson has performed well for Sweden when he was good in the NHL. After that, we haven’t seen him, but I doubt he will be completely healthy, and if he is it is a coin toss if he finds his own speedy self now that he is getting older. Sweden has great defencemen to replace him if he is not super Karlsson. Of course, if he is close to being that, he is given.
Sadly, Forsberg, Bäckström and Pettersson have all struggled with injuries lately. I guess this means that we willlose a few of our stars before the tournament. I hope OEL has a resurgance in Vancouver. Sweden needs players to have a good year. Can’t afford to lose good ones like Canada.

Arvidsson and Rakell has had clear downward form trends last couple of years, Arvidsson struggling with injury. Same with Erik Karlsson. Problem is players struggling with injuries seem to have trouble finding their game again. Not sure Pettersson does as well in the left wing as the right wing, the spot he played his first year before teansitioning to center in Van if I remember correctly. However, if he did, Hörnqvist could perhaps be an interesting player with Zib and him. If Rakell finds his form, that third line looks interesting, of course. In the powerplay, Nylander successfully played PP on the left side in Toronto in the playoffs, an interesting option if Pettersson is there. I am glad you didn’t put Pettersson and Nylander on the same line as they struggled together in the WC before the coach split them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BallPuckFellow10</b></div><div>This couldn't be further from what Team Sweden would be lol. I am from Sweden and Erik Karlsson is the captain of the team, there is absolutely 0% chance that he doesn't play unless he is injured. Hampus Lindholm would also not play, Adam Larsson would be selected ahead of him. Höglander? no way, he is too young and hasn't produced close enough to the numbers to be selected. Our lineup would look completely different from this. I suggest you do some research next time you do one of these.
Landeskog (A)-Bäckström-Nylander
Forsberg-Petterson-Lindholm
Rakell-Zibanejad-Burakovsky
Karlsson-Backlund-Hörnqvist
Arvidsson, Eriksson Ek and Silfverberg could potentially make the lineup or be depth forwards.
Hedman-Karlsson (C)
OEL (A)-Klingberg
Ekholm-Larsson
Brodin, Dahlin, Lindholm and Andersson would battle for the extra spot. Would likely go to Dahlin as he is the future of our Swedish defenseman.
Markström
Lehner
Ullmark</div></div>
Are you following the NHL at all, lol? Erik Karlsson has been injury ridden and terrible last couple of years. I agree he has a shot of participating even though he is, at present, a huge liability. Sweden is after all a country that brings in players with no form at times, the problem this time is that there are much better options. Rakell played the last WC and was useless and haven’t really been lighting up the NHL either last season. Eriksson Ek that you on reserve was voted 4th for Selke Trophy, best defensive forward and is ludicrous to have off the lineup like you do. Arvidsson has had no form last couple of years. He was left unprotected for Seattle for that reason. Larsson was also left unprotected to Seattle and has obviously had a downward curve also. OEL is not unlikely, but has been a liability in NHL, a general sentiment among commentators. I suggest you look into this before stating ludicrous opinions. Your suggested team is uninformed. Höglander - speculating - but you’ll see this season. ;)

I like your idea of that top line, I'm just turned off by the first line because Nylander and Pettersson played together in a world championship for a while a couple of years ago, and they had zero chemistry. Eventually the coach split them. They created nothing, were terrible together. Of course, there is always a chance things change, but I think both Pettersson and Nylander are puck-transporting guys (especially Willy), though Nylander is more dynamic, which might make it better to split them up.
If I put Pettersson on a wing I would probably send one of them to another line.
Also Arvidsson is on a downward form curve.

One player I am hesitating about is Elias Lindholm. I am wondering if he is the type that needs a great and specific environment to produce, one he is used to. Then again, Sweden has a shortage of 60+ point forwards.
Of course, them I saw this:
