Damn homie you don't have to come after my reading comprehension skills like that.
Just trying to have a chill discussion, No need to get defensive.
Just remember me when Mrazek is dealt for more than a 3rd

Disagree on the 'WAY'.
I am not 'dumping' him. The leafs have better guys on the come up (Sandin, Liljegren), so we don't need him. The idea that Holl is not an NHL defenceman is ridiculous, Its us leafs fans completely picking on a guy and overreacting. When it comes to his analytics he has been decent this year.
Maybe a fourth is more appropriate but nothing less.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>I don’t think what u saw said “a lot” of interest
And if it did, that had to be an exaggeration
Also, i challenge whether he actually would be bettter than what we have right now
Mrazek has an .890 save% this season for u guys
He’s playing TERRIBLE
And why would we pay a draft pick- or multiple picks, like u suggest- when there’s better guys than him as UFAs???
It just doesn’t make sense
Especially since we have UPL, a good young prospect who’s played well- actually BETTER than Mrazek (and on a much worse team) with a .917 save% this season
He’s gonna get his chance to be the starter for us
And sure, we’d like to pair a Vet with him
But like i said, there’s better available in UFA
Hell… we currently have Craig Anderson (.909sv%) and Dustin Tokarski (.902sv%) who are playing better than Mrazek…. and again, on a much worse team
I know the report said there were teams interested in him,
but we’ll see what u end up getting
I’m betting it’s a late round pick at best
I can’t see any way we’d be interested
Doesn’t make sense for us dude</div></div>
You make a convincing argument.
To be honest, I picked buffalo without too much thought, I was just basing it on the fact that the team doesn't have any goaltending depth.
So, you probably are right that a trade to buffalo doesn't make much sense....
However, I do still think that you are seriously undervaluing him.
He has been subpar and injured this year, but in the past 3 season with Carolina he was rocking at approximately a 915 sv % (923 in 12 games last year!).
I genuinely do believe that his value is around a 3rd and perhaps more (Tell me honestly you couldn't see Ken Holland giving us a 2nd for Mrazek come on).
As far as me overhyping the fact that there is a lot of interest surrounding him, this is a quote from Jeff Marek on Jan 29th.
"However, there have been some teams that have called the Maple Leafs and said, Look, if you're looking to make a move with that goaltender, give us a call, we are interested. Very much there is a marketplace for Petr Mrazek but for (GM) Kyle Dubas, all goaltending decisions are summer decisions."

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I always find interesting that fans think they dump 2m Holl and 1.5m Dermot for picks, "because they must go" then the Leafs are able to sign a UFA RHD Lybushin for 1.8m, which supposedly makes them better.
Kinda of interesting the only changes from the current lineup is Mrzarek, Dermot and Holl.</div></div>
I am not saying that Dermott and Holl are awful or the problem necessarily. But, I think that at this point, with Sandin and Liljegren ready for the NHL (and both objectively better than Holl and Dermott), it doesn't make sense given the cap situation to keep either of those defenseman. On Lybushkin, are you saying that 1.8 million is too litte?

Fair enough!
I remember seeing reports that there was a lot of interest in the case that the leafs decided to move him a couple weeks ago, so I don't think that the 3rd is a stretch.
Let's be honest, he would be an improvement over what you have currently. I do agree that he isn't a long term starter, but as your rebuild I think he could be a good addition in a tandem.

Cap circumvention to the max
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Lots of inaccuracies in here. Kucherov noticed the problem with his hip the first week of December, not in November or earlier. They attempted a round or two of cortisone injections to see if it could be managed without surgery, but they didn't work. Tampa had a deal in place to move Tyler Johnson from all reports, but then it was determined Kuch would need surgery and thus Tampa could use ltir. The surgery was the last week of December and his recovery time is on pace with several other players who had a torn hip labrum. Tampa has circumvented nothing, and while they may not make a deadline move, they could and should add a depth rd or ld, depending on if they want Serg more on the right or left come playoff time.</div></div>
Ya TBL fans have somewhat convinced me that you guys aren't actually circumventing considering the late surgery and the fact the league is probably watching(I will say it is kind of sketch That kucherov participated in practice today, but Im not a doctor.)
I am more just kind of shocked that it's possible to be significantly over the cap in the playoffs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rangsey</b></div><div>Valid. But that would've been adding not resigning. Tampa is still at an advantage I'll admit. But adding two ufas if Matthews injured is quite different and a massive exaggeration. Not to mention incredibly problematic capwise
Recognize there will come a reckoning and Tampa will lose quality players this offseason. But for now one of the best players in the league is not playing and that isn't great.
I'd rather have Kucherov in the lineup. It's better for the league when star players play.
Side note. First in the league means nothing this season Presidents trophy should be split 4 ways.</div></div>
Ya I was just using it as an example.lmao the main reason i'm so rattled is because Im a leafs fan, and this is our best chance in years, and Tampas lineup + kucherov is terrifying.

Lol what you need to realize is that Tampa is not at a disadvantage here. You guys are still fielding a roster at this moment that is at the cap, so it's not a remarkable achievement to be first(it's still impressive). You don't have Kuch, but you resigned sergachev and cirelli , which would have been almost impossible if Kuch was playing(of course you could have made moves but the team would be weaker).
Imagine Matthews got injured, and instead we signed pietrangelo and another good depth forward for while hes out. It would be ridiculous for me to say"look at how good the buds are without their best player" because of the other additions.

This whole post sounds like someone who is jealous their teams management isn't good enough to put that much talent and be able basically to tell a top 5 forward in the league take the regular season off we'll see you in the playoffs and still be a top 5 team in the league without him
I mean TB did just win the Cup with Stamkos Playing a total of 2:47 in the playoffs</div></div>
Honestly man ya I'm jealous. Tampa bay is exploiting a loophole here, good for you guys. Not much can be done to counteract it this year so good on TBL, but can you not objectively look at it and agree it's sort of ridiculous that there is a team that will be competing for the Stanley cup that technically paid their players ten million over the cap? Would you not be sort of angry if the leafs put matthews on LTIR because of his wrist and added panarin (obviously hypothetical but money is similar), and then just added matthews back for the first game of the playoffs? That is essentially what Tampa has done.
I am not really mad at Tampa here. I am not happy that the rules allow for this to happen. If a player is on LTIR for the entire year and his salary relief is the only thing that kept a team under the cap, he should be ineligible to return.

Now I understand what you are implying, but it's how are Tampa really circumventing the rules?</div></div>
pretty sure the team doctor has to decide that the player is actually injured. No matter what it's sketchy if the player comes back right when the playoffs start
