:) if he doesn't want to sign in Ottawa, has not going to sign in Winnipeg. He'll head back home to the US.
Plus he'll be looking for 7 or 8 mil, at least, on a long term deal and that's way too much to pay for a 2 LHD to play behind Morrissey.

Gonna be interesting to see how Perfetti does over the next few years, Schneider was taken 9 spots after Perfetti. Was looking at the 2020 draft and its looking like a bad one for the Jets. The Jets 2nd rounder in that draft is doing nothing in his 2nd AHL season, he was picked ahead of Evangelista and Faber.. 🙄
I don't see this interesting the Rangers, yes Schneider is a bit stuck behind Fox and Trouba but Trouba only has a few years left and is pushing 30 plus injuries happen and quality depth is needed to be a true contender, doubt he's going anywhere.

"bUt He'S pLaYiNg BaDlY tHiS SeAsOn, HiS vAlUe HaS nEvEr BeEn LoWeR!!!" Yeah, too bad he's signed for two more seasons after this, plenty of time for his value to recover.
"bUt DrYsDaLe WaS tRaDeD, vErBeEk Is ClEaRiNg HoUsE!!!" You clearly miss the nuance of the trade, Anaheim was overflowing with puck moving defensemen, yes, it hurt to loose Drysdale, but Mintyukov had emerged as a replacement on PP1 for him.
And hurt is what it's going to take to acquire Zegras, if you heard the news tomorrow that Montreal had acquired Zegras, and it didn't immediately fill you with dread to hear the cost, then it's not enough payment.</div></div>
U guys gotta stop acting like Zegras is a top10 Center in the league too though
U aren’t getting “four 1sts value” for him

NYI Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Idk, they need to do something to actually go for it with the Hellebuyck and Scheifele extensions, neither are likely to age well and I just don't see a team with DeMelo on their top pair going very deep in the playoffs.
I mean they may be discussion prohibitive in your opinion but the vast majority of people here would rather discuss realistic trades and the reality is guys with trade protection probably have Winnipeg on their lists, are two guys who have been in NY their entire careers going to waive for Winnipeg when they have years left on their contracts? I highly doubt it.
Also I've heard Pulock interviewed multiple times, he doesn't sound like a guy who has much interest in going anywhere.</div></div>
Trade clauses are definitely a factor and should not be ignored altogether but these sweeping assumptions of what a player would or wouldn't do is speculative at best. Yes, often the odds are a large number of players are not waiving for Winnipeg but... I believe i am one of those (whether you agree or not) that enjoys trying to find intriguing and fair value deals that both teams would actually consider. These are the conversations I come here for.
What else is Pulock going to say? He's signed for 7 more years there and by all accounts is a team first guy! It's starting to look like a dumpster fire tho!
Cost of living, quality of life, politics and yes, close to mom and dad and childhood friends are just a few reasons he might consider it. It is imo extremely plausible.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>We still need a 2C for next year so we either pay Nelson 6m or someone else even more...or not have a 2C...</div></div>
I see it a bit different i guess. A one year older Perfetti would likely be my choice. Or even, Namestnikov, Vilardi, Lambert, McGroarty, Lucius... The fans want a path for the youngsters and the Lowry line as constructed is better than most 2nd lines in the league so we are really talking about a 3C.
Edit: And I think Nelson is predominately a left winger!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>Nelson has a 16 team no trade list may have to be a separate trade altogether to get a middle six forward to replace ehlers in this scenario</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>I would assume if the Islanders were to trade these two they'd be looking to get younger so don't see them having a ton of interest in Ehlers though who knows with Lou.. lol.. 😆
Maybe they'd prefer Vilardi as he's a bit younger and still has RFA control, either way I don't think this is enough for both Pulock and Nelson, realistically I doubt either would waive even if they're locals so to speak.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Okposo_Lover</b></div><div>I like Ehlers a lot and this is a unique deal. I think its easier to split of Pulock and Nelson to find their values.
Pulock gonna get a 1st + Lucius imo, then Schmidt for cap. Then I think a smaller add too.
Brock is worth less than Ehlers but I think its somewhat close. So a deal like
Pulock, Nelson, 3rd for Ehlers, 1st, Lucius, Schmidt seems more fair.
All of this would also require waiving NTCs tho</div></div>
I'm not sure Nelson would be my choice. I'd rather have the cap space for next season to resign some of the pending FA's - Perfetti, Nino, Demelo, Gus...
Would likely leverage a B+ younger prospect (Chibrikov, Zhilkin, Chisolm) and an early - mid (2-4) round pick for a 1 year rental UFA such as Monahan, Duclair... Eberle even.
We should really stop the 'he wont waive' comments. I think they are discussion prohibitive and lazy.

Final piece
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ducky10</b></div><div>I agree, I looked a bit more long term and the depth within the organization at FW and lack thereof on D. Lambert, Chibrokov, Barlow… will fill the void sooner than later. Pulock adds another solid pillar to the core for a long term. The cap is an even swap this season. Ehlers has always felt a bit in te outside with the the way the organization wants to play.
Sets them up well going forward!</div></div>
The fact that we’re arguing about a 2RW vs a top pairing RHD is wild.
I’d trade Ehlers for Pulock in a heartbeat. Iafallo, Connor, Scheifele, Vilardi, Perfetti and Nino can makeup the top six just fine.
Jets have a ton of boom or bust prospects that could end up as really good middle six wingers. If they really believe in being a draft and develop team, you take the chance.

Jets have chibrikov and lambert who could make a case next year for that ice time and rutger, chaz, barlow and rashevsky that could be top 6 in the future as well trading a forward for a top 2 rhd which is the jets biggest need is massive and should be explored regardless even if they ask for ehlers

I'm going to say that it is likely a very good chance Pesce, Hanifin and Hellebuyck will likely sign in the states. Seems like majority of Americans do.
Perfetti contract is massive, he hasn't earned that yet. Maybe if he takes a massive step this season.
Arizona doesn't consider. Scheifele will be a rental and Stanley and Harkins are worthless. Hayton just had a breakout year, no chance he gets moved. Arizona also has Cooley in the system. I don't think Scheifele would cause enough buzz to take convince fans to all of a sudden support the Coyotes.</div></div>

Why the Helle Not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>Arb ruling can only be 1-2 years, So the Jets can't do 3 years. Treliving isn't giving up Samsonov for a one year rental. Hellebuyck wants to play in the States only. According to Dreger, Friedman and LeBrun so he's not going to commit long term with the Leafs. If Treliving won't give Nylander 8 x $10,000,000 than he's not going to give a 31 year old Connor Hellebuyck 7 x $9,500,000 which is what he's going to want minimally.</div></div>
Hellebuyck wants to win. I bet he would love southern Ontario! I think he ultimately signs a 5yr 8/8.25 whenever it happens. He would fit with that group. I missed that arb ruling

Hurricane Kyle
See... this is interesting. Carolina probably do this because of the term left on Connors deal, but I think it needs tweaks. Harkins is not sniffing Carolina's bottom six, he adds no value, and adding that much to Necas is probably a slight overpayment. Maybe make it a higher pick going back to Carolina? You could then swap the Canes 2nd with the Philly 2nd which is basically a late 1st too. There's certainly a basis here for the Canes.
