Bruh, Philly fans will destroy you.
Let's break that trade down. It takes a 1st to dump Murray.
Let's say Deslauriers is worth a 3rd.
Laughton is worth a 2nd + Minten
So Konecny who is the Flyers best player and scored at a PPG pace worth Timmins who is a 7th D?

You have $7.6M in cap space.
At least use that to sign a decent free agent or two lol.

Yay Or Nays Like a Horse
If you throw in Samsonov instead of Murray, the trade is more even.
But if Nashville trades Forsberg and Saros, they're basically pressing the red button and going into full rebuild mode.
They're gonna want futures and prospects, not Marner.

Buying Marner
Nashville isn't going to be a contender any time soon so it doesn't make sense for them to offload 3 1sts like that.
They were in sell mode last season offloading Ekholm, Jeannot, Granlund, and Niederreiter.
It'd be tough to turn down 3 1sts for Marner but the Leafs would want a deal centered around Forsberg or Saros.

Quite an overpay on ROR.
He'll probably get $4.5M - $5.5M AAV.

Realistic Marner deal
Minnesota can't afford Marner.
They're in cap hell and are heading into the worst years of the Parise-Suter buyouts.
Minnesota center depth is not very good and they most certainly won't trade their no.1 C in Joel Eriksson Ek.
He's locked up for another 6 years on a great contract.
Without JEE, Sam Steel is MIN's #1C.....

Nah fam. This ain't it.
Too top heavy skill and salary wise which has been the Leafs biggest problems for years.
Schmaltz doesn't help our needs.
That bottom six would get wrecked in the playoffs.
I'd keep Samsonov instead. He'd be cheaper and if we wanted Campbell we would've just re-signed him last season.

LOOL no way the Wings consider that.

Even it doesn't have to be Detroit, no team has the luxury to be taking on over $12.6M in cap for just draft picks.
Money needs to be sent the other way for a trade to work properly.

You're going to need to cough up draft picks to get rid of Forbort and Reilly.
Goaltending is one of Edmonton's weakness but no way do they give up a 100pt player who is a leader and can play multiple positions.

Nah, we're not giving up Liljegren and his beautiful contract.
On top of a 1st round pick ....
Leafs will attempt to use that 1st rd pick to get a scoring forward.

I mean if we're giving Murray and offloading his contract for Saros (in a hypothetical deal like this), there's really no need for NSH to retain salary.
The money works out nicely.
Just make the roster a 23 man and you're cap compliant by playoffs.

Hardest Team Ever
OH GOD. Tom Wilson would complete this team. I'm not sure if we have the right assets to pull it off.
Nah, we don't need JT Miller. We're gonna have contract problems soon and his contract would complicate things even further.
Now that we have Schenn, teams are gonna see Holl as our 7th/8th D now. We'd be lucky to get one 3rd rounder for him let alone two.

Arizona accepts and runs.
You're getting Knies, Liljegren and a 1st round pick.
- Knies is considered a top prospect.
- Liljegren is starting to become an established top 4 RD
- 1st round pick speaks for itself
Ottawa traded for him and that offer doesn't come close to what was offered in this ACGM.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dominot</b></div><div>Lol, he was ridiculously overvalued.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boltsradynasty</b></div><div>Glad Toronto overpaid for him</div></div>
Objectively, a 3rd round pick was right on the money.
People thought Luke Schenn would garner a decent prospect or a 2nd round pick.
No team would offer a 4th round pick or later. Those types of picks are used to acquire AHL depth, incentivize salary retentions, or cover small discrepancies in value.
