Yet people still say he was, plus this yr should at least throw some doubt on him being the best d man in the league, especially with the ages of the guys that had better years in McAvoy Fox or Makar, it's likely that those guys are that good, not like Dougie having a career yr or smth

I mean yeah he never gets talked abt, but he's also nothing special, they gave up what, 2 2nds for him? And people said it was a fair trade, I probably wouldn't have given a single 2nd at the time, or now

He wasn't nearly as good defensively as others that were also just as good or better offensively (Fox, McAvoy at least), and he also had over 50% of his points on the PP iirc, where he was playing with... slightly better... talent, he's still certainly very very good, but also certainly not the unanimous best d man in the league

yeah idk, I also totally forgot about Baily and Leddy, they are def more overrated

I would honestly say he's one of the more overrated...

Probably, or people that just want clicks for hot takes, but I've still seen it, I strongly disagree, I would have given it to Panarin or Helle easily last yr, I just can't look past his woeful defense, and also lots of bointz from an absurd PP

I am certainly not a leafs fan, but he is easily a top 5 C in the league, at worst 4, and I could also argue point over Drai (but could also argue Drai over Barkov probably)

I don't want to say pens fans are dub... but pens fans are dumb, I don't think many people in general know what to look for in a DMan (myself included) so I just like players that put up good numbers and/or play like I do/would like my d men to play, and MP does both of those things very well. I also don't think the team really has any interest in trading him, when I first saw people on twitter/here saying to trade him and scratch him I was very surprised, him and Marino was almost unquestionably our best pairing, and I'd heard absolutely no rumors from anyone remotely reputable that the pens would consider trading him, I think he would be traded by now (or well, at least heavily speculated, they are in the playoffs and all) if the pens were going to move him, I could be entirely off on that last part though

Yeah, this trade makes minimal sense for either team, McCann is similar to Comtois, but older and more expensive, not what ANA should want, POJ brings nothing to ANA value wise, and is very important to PIT, and they also have no need for Clang (Gibby/Dostal) who we just spent a 3rd on, like its and overpay from PIT, but just doesn't fill any needs for ANA

Sujet: If NJD want McCann plus
Wood is awful and a massive downgrade over McCann, and we'd be giving up probably the best defender on the team (either him or Dumo, MP gets FAR too much hate) TT is also awful, and a major downgrade from Zucker, and trading for MAF is just as dumb and unlikely as keeping him in the ED was, and I wouldn't trade Riikola for scraps considering he's better than every d man you brought in other than maybe Hakanpaa (they've put up similar impacts), and I doubt SEA takes ZAR for Matheson bc assuming we protect Sid Jake Rust Kap Geno Tanev and Blueger we'd leave ZAR avaiable, and even if we did protect ZAR over Tanev/Blueger/Kap (which I would reccomend), the difference between any of those three (one of which would be available) and ZAR is not nearly enough for them to take Matheson (and Halak is probably going to retire from what I've been hearing)
