Definitely. IMO, Granato is getting way too much blame for the teams struggles. He wanted to change the way the team played to make winning more sustainable, which was always a good plan. The problem is he was given no personnel to help. All additions made this off-season have made the team worse; Clifton &amp; E.Johnson / re-signing Okposo/Girgensons. ZB is awesome, but there is no way, with the expectations this team had heading into the season, that he should be on the 1st line. The problem is, he's their best option at that position right now. The thought-processes for 21/22 and 22/23 were correct; short-term contracts to bridge the gap for younger players. Quinn and Peterka weren't handed roster spots, their play made it impossible to take them out.

With this being said, I understand where you're coming from. If we're talking about organizational rosters, I would still take BUF &amp; OTT's over Detroit's despite their early season success. I think Adams should've added some middle-6 players to fill out the lineup better, but I'm glad he hasn't done what Detroit has, where their roster is legitimately old. Like Seider and Raymond are nice pieces, but the rest of their NHL roster is UFA's who'll regress over time. And I'm not a huge fan of any of their prospects aside from ASP. All in all, I'm still confident about the organizations future, but I think the forward core of the team that will eventually make the playoffs will be Benson, Savoie, Kulich, Quinn, Peterka, 2024 1st round pick and not Tage, Cozens, Skinner, Tuch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I agree with the Skinner thing, unfortunately he has a ntc and he only wanted to play for buffalo or toronto. Also, he is way overpaid, offense only wingers making 9 million are not players other teams are gonna want. I remember hearing the brindamour stuff, he said he was glad Skinner was gone and you couldn't win with guys like him. It's nice that he is sticking up for granato, seems a bit self serving though. As for some of the other stuff, I thought lablanc was an awful hockey player, maybe I heard wrong, I don't watch many Sharks games. Not sure why ostlund for cates would be a thing, I think ostlund has been developing as expected for a mid first, hopefully he kills it at the world juniors. I'm not suggesting that he, or any of our players are off limits, I think you are selling awfully low here. Finally, my own preference is to sell mittelstadt for a physical defensive d, we need at least one of our top 3 centers to play a 200 foot game and be able to win faceoffs, Thompson and cozens are already signed long term and would be my choices to keep. Agree or disagree, not sure how much any of it matters, adams and granato would need to lose a dozen more games in a row before pegula would even consider firing them, I can't imagine any big changes unless that happens.</div></div>

Maybe i'm being overactive but Cozens is so frustrating. His first two years were not impressive and last year I feel like his offensive metrics were inflated by the team's style of play and a ton of scoring off the rush. His defensive play was bad last season and hasn't improved at all this year. His puck skills and instincts are non-existent. Casey has improved so much and has fixed a main part of his game that was his main weakness; puck protection in the offensive zone. I don't think they need to make a decision this offseason but as of now, long-term, I would choose to keep Tage and Casey. Hopefully Savoie or Kulich can be impact players at C too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>14 games til christmas break, assume they get there with like a 16-15-4, that's 36 points after 35 games. the cut off isn't going to be low 90s like last year, there are better teams in the division now like detroit. Even if I generously put it at 95, that would require them to pick up 59 or 60 points in the final 47 games.

This is a near 105 pt pace the rest of the season. Even healthy, this team is nowhere near that, otherwise they wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. Erik Johnson, Okposo, Clifton and Girgensons are going to continue receiving regular ice time. That's already enough of a problem before you factor in core players taking a huge step back. Dahlin looks like he's playing for Ralph Krueger.

The best thing they can do right now is take the time to help them find their game again so that they don't run into the same problem next year, hopefully under a different coach.</div></div>

The cutoff will definitely around the same #.

Yeah sure, teams like Detroit and Washington are better but that just means theres going to be more mediocrity from like teams 6-11 in the conference and they'll take points off on another.

I don't see DET, TOR, PIT, OTT, TB, PHI, BUF or NYI breaking away from the rest. BOS, NYR, NJD, CAR and FLA are the clear cut best teams in the conference and the rest will just take points off one another. Even MTL and CBJ aren't terrible and are very capable of beating any of those teams on any given night.
