Trade down from 3 OA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>Lindstrom over Demidov is another Reinbacher over Michkov. They cannot be that stupid again</div></div>
Demidov plays in a Russian Junior League with an average age of 18
Russian KHL has 230 some Junior players in their ranks right now
AHL has what left over from KHL in the 18-20 year old range.
Their Junior has whats left with a record setting amount of 17 year olds this year
Im not saying Demidov isnt Great
Im just saying 35 players aged 17 were chosen for the KHL and he wasnt.
Dude is REALLY small having success in Junior Arena's with Big Ice still (KHL is mostly converted to NHL style but outside that its not a priority yet until the KHL ones are all funded and complete)
Im not choosing a small forward who's doing well on Big Ice against inexperienced Junior Peers in the top 5 for anyone
He's skilled sure but so was Brian Sakic, like RIDICULOUSLY skilled and he also couldnt handle the physicality of the NHL or the AHL for that matter(his brother Joe had no such issues )
Not all players are built the same and sometimes it takes smaller players a lot longer which is why NCAA has become so valuable to the Kariya's Caufield's,Hutsons ,Q.Hughes and Makar's
IF Demidov joined the NCAA like Levshunov
I think head to head we'd be talking about Cellebrini vs Demidov 100% no doubts in my mind.
Limited amount of games with a ton of focus on training and Academic to create Athelete's Physically and Mentally tough
Its got its downside in Conditioning and not providing a real NHL experience in terms of Schedule /Routine BUT thats kinda the point.
Its Different allowing players way too big and some that are really small have time to develop into better athletes and players.
But Russia's Development of Demidov isnt good cause he's playing vs inferior players not people on his Level.
Good as Demidov is there is players better then him in the NCAA as is often the case for any skater to face joining their ranks.
The only place Competition would be as Weak as Demidov's league is in Division 3 which is Academic based Hobby Hockey not the Division 1 top guys we hear getting Drafted
Even then i think Division 3 might not be that far off where Russian Junior is right now.
Lack of Foreign Players had an impact to the point they couldnt keep both top league afloat today without players 17-20 who make up a shocking amount of each system now

Yup. I'm not suggesting there's no way Kyrou ever gets traded, but there's a segment of the town who have been pushing the concept of running him out of town for years now, since before he even came up. Because that's their idea of being a Blues fan, I suppose.

I have no interest in trading him. You're right, he fits the retool timeline like a glove.

not a montreal fan but getting eiseman and already having caufield seems kinda redundant so probably one of lindstrom, helenius, catton or depending on how far down they are maybe MBN. Not really big on helenius I watch him every game because I like Huuhtanen and he is solid but not top 10 pick worthy imo

Parascak would be my top honorable mention. He and Howe are a coin flip for that 32nd spot. Both are the same player except Parascak is a shoot first winger. Howe is a pass first winger.
EDIT: Parascak is like Gabe Perreault of last year's draft but rawer in terms of upside.

That gotta be one of the wildest comment i ever saw.
First of all, Montreal finished with the 5th odds, 8-9 pts ahead of 2nd, 3rd and 4th. So you are telling me that Monhan by himself was responsible for these 5 wins? He's got 6 goals and played for a quarter of the season. Moreover, it is odds, and the difference in odds between the fifth (MTL) and the 3rd (CHI, who actually won) was 3%. You are telling me you'd give a first for 3% of increased odds at Bedard?
This year, Mo was a game changer, not gonna lie. But you are crazy if you believe MTL is as bad as ANA, SJS and CHI. I'd say without mo we'd be closer to the 46 pts OTT are having.. which is like.. another 2,5%.
Imagine refusing 2 first for not even 3% increased odds at the lottery.

And thus Kent Hughes completes what might be an unprecedented two-step of transactions, getting paid a 1st to take a player and then reselling that player for another 1st. Shoutout to Brad Treliving, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Anyway, fair deal. Monahan should be a good addition to the Jets roster, and people who are complaining about his EV points will likely be surprised by his output with better wingers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ColonelX</b></div><div>I swear people in the community are convinced to the core that Monahan is a better hockey player than Lindholm.
I'll say I think there'll be more suitors for him because of the low cap hit therefore more teams can trade for him but as far as hockey goes the points comparison doesn't make sense between these two.
I mean he ain't playing behind the same defense either... As of right now LA defense's miles ahead of Montreal's so the comparison is skewed.</div></div>
Alright if using SV% is an unfair metric for judging a goaltender. Let's just look at Montreal's goaltending.
He's currently being outplayed by Montembeault, who has had more starts, tougher assignments, less GAA, seen more shots against, and has a better SV%. at about a 1/4th of the price. So basically Allen is playing just about as well as Primeu at 4 times the price. If you have truly watched him play this season, you know you are selling fools gold.

Of course the comparison is skewed, but the point is why should the Kings give away Rittich (because he isn't waivers-exempt) in order to hope that Allen will be an improvement? Especially at the cost of a very effective bottom-6 center on a team-friendly RFA contract?
