Time to win
I don't know how but each trade just gets worse and worse. Its all bad and silly.
-Anderson and Dvorak aren't worth a 1st between them
-Myers sucks and is barely replacement level
-Markstorm aint coming
Final thoughts: Troll account to cause a ruckus

Its Shake And Bake And I Helped
If NYR gave up all that for Nylander you scoop it up in a heart beat. but NYR isnt that dumb and Leafs arent going to fleece a team like that sadly.

Signing AP
The good and the bad
1. Andersen - Solid starting goalie, making $1M of cash with 1 year left is worth wayyyyyyyy More than a 3rd. Given the cash crunch by many teams, easy late first...
2. Johnsson + Kerfoot = Kappy got a 1st and B Prostect. Johnsson alone is less than that sure, Kerfoot is equal or more. So how both go for a 2nd and 3rd is stupid low
3. Holl - Eh i feel again you can get more. maybe a 3rd. Minisota wants home grown folks
4. SImmonds will not take a 1.25x 3 and Dubas would never sign it.
Good,
AP - 1/2 decent but still think the AAV is too low
I like a lot of the signings and would love Jumbo Joe and Spezza back
Signings are great. Trades are pretty bad. A+ for creativity

Clearing Some Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PLDGEY</b></div><div>OTT laughs as they hang up.
Marner would be a great 9M player. He is overpaid by nearly 2M and he is UFA at the end. OTT declines.</div></div>
Like all players, they get to UFA and you have him for 5 years, its not a rental. And he would be great at 9M, your getting him for basically 7M average over 5. And all you have to do is eat up 11Mil of Cap, which you arent going to spend anyways because you are OTT and cheap.

Who Knows Anymore
1. Seems like a bit of an overpayment to Carolina. A sign and trade of Freddie should get us the 1st. We can deal Johnsson separately if needed. No sign and trade it makes more sense.
2. WIlly I hate to see go, and yet not a bad trade. I dont like Ellis' age vs Willys, and i dont think we should give up on Dermott as well.
3. No need to sweeten any pot. Engvall makes 1.25/2. Easily trade-able and as proved in the playoffs, decent 4th line center.

Oh I got it. But if I am buying out Bobrovski Flordia is sweetening the pot. You want me to pay him 40-50million to not play for you. I will take Ekblad and a 1st and a few prospects. And sure they can take Gauthier and Johnsson and a 4th back. Maybe. But why are we giving up any more assets. It makes no sense.
Leafs gave up a 1st for 1 year of buyout of Marleau. Yes that affects the cap, and slightly different circumstances sure, but to think the leafs have to sweeten the deal to buyout Bob is asinine.

Florida
This is bad on so many levels
1- you dont sign spezza for more than 1 year. Not good cap management. yes i know it is buriable but those +35 contracts.
2- bobrovski is the reason that Flordia wasnt in the playoffs. Thier backup was playing all the games. Why would be take that garbage for 7 more years. Even if he rebounds, he is on the wrong side of 30. Youd have to pay me to take Bob. And the rest of that 3 former 1sts, 1 former 2nd, 2 seconds and whatever else for Bob and Ekblad. Hell no
3- Dermott + assets for a 2nd. That seems bad.
All of this seems bad.

Going Big
Both trades are absolutely awful.
Kapanen is younger and already better than Ferland and an RFA at the end of the deal
the other one.. i dont even know where to begin. Nylander is a 60-70pt player... and you want to add a 40-55pt andres johnsson, for a decent defencemen and a pylon...
Gauthier is not a 3rd line center

Bracco is not ready for the NHL yet. He got outchances regularly and didnt dominate at 5v5 like you would want to see this year.
Marners contract seems 1.5mil too pricy
As Nohate said: Mikheyev is in the lineup, babcock loves his new toy.
Gauthier should go
Neiverth just got a custom leafs helmet so I assume he makes the team as backup

if you look at advanced stats. Marner is slightly better. But Toronto probably has to put in a sweetener to say thanks for the lower salary on Rant

Marner Bridge - Reality
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>blowing_the_zone</b></div><div>I have a feeling it's heading towards a 3 yr deal worth around 9M aav. That's an overpay for what he's worth today and it's my guess that will be increasingly true once the other rfas start to sign.
But if Mitch is dug in at 3yr/10M it seems like a compromise both ways, the leafs can make it work, and it compares to a 3 yr offer that was on the table for AM. But oh man, if he gets a deal like that he better come outta the gates producing... cause if he's feeling sensitive and disrespected now just wait til he sees how the fan base turns on him if he doesn't put up numbers..
The other option that I can see happening is that Ferris and Paul are actually deluded and they continue to try to bully tactic the leafs and Marner ends up sitting for the year.</div></div>
You know a deal is bad when you say, He better come out of the gates producing. AKA he better be a 94+ point player for the entire contract length, I sure really do hope it wasnt a fluke and his points didnt get inflated by playing with JT

My numbers were based on facts and history. Which is how all contracts are given. Sure maybe a 8/3 slight overpayment sure, but 10. **** Marner ain’t that good

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div></div></div>
Marner has no power. I agree he can ask for whatever he wants. But I want to make a million bucks. But I bet my boss won’t pay me that.
Facts
-no offersheet has been formally submitted
-rumors,if true, Marner declined some offers due to term And unsure if leafs matching because he wants to stay
-leafs now have 10.55Mil in reserve to go into the season with Mitch. That would mean a bridge deal but still.
-3-4 great comparables from Kane to Aho to Kucherov to point rumers have him around 9.25/6
-no arbitration rights
- saw nylander suck from missing camp and probably doesn’t want that
What power does he have other than hope they suck and Dubas caves...
He isn’t really showing that home town boy love
10x5 is a 1.5AAV overpay.... Aho signing is the starting points. Best comparable there for a long term. Kucherov great comparable for a short term.
I’d say mitch, 7Mil/3 or 9.5/7. Take it or sit and have fun. Negotiate in reality not in your fairyland

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F3ruS</b></div><div>I think Honka is a lost case by now, so i wouldn't trade for him if i were Toronto's GM, same with Shattenkirk(regressing), i think in general D = needs big guys(6,0+ & 200+), who are super though to play against. I feel like Honka is just small+ not strong enough, althought west to east could be working, so you just never know. I guess if u think Liljegren and Sandin not ready, it could work for a year. For 2 years im not so sure...
BTW just a note, i heard Colorado fans saying Barrie = not a good defender, so dont be that sure that your D improved, until u havent seen him for 82 games.
If he gets the same role as Zaitsev.. it will be bad...(not me saying this, AVS fans who watched him play a lot) I have just turned into AVS fan for this year...(as my 2nd team)
i hope Babcock will play him in offensive shifts or smth like that most often... in my mind Muzzin+Barrie = perfect linemates, and that should be good...</div></div>
Dubas has built his D the same way. Strong puck moving defensemen. Size doesn’t really matter as long as you can get the puck out with control. With this forward group it’s all you need.
Barrie is great at it, but you put him in a defensive roll I think he will be misused.
Babcocks line decisions worry me so much so that I don’t think he will maximize this team.

My bad I get your point. Should be a 2021 4th that gets upgraded to a 3rd if he plays games. I put it in a year too early
But need some performance guarantees in there
