Sharks Land Celebrini Trade for Andersson and Sign Nylander Reinhart Samsonov

How did you manage to get Ducks for 1st rounder?</div></div>
Ducks are just a placeholder team for a contending team that trades for Duclair at the TDL (whom the Sharks would retain half), so a team like EDM, as I suggested in the trade box.

Man, it'd really help if we landed Macklin.</div></div>
I originally had Toffoli at ~6-6.5mil for 3 years in Nylander's spot, which I think would be the more prudent move from a cap/GM perspective, but in this scenario SJ had the money and I thought why not put Nylander there instead.

2023-24 San Jose Barracuda
I think Okhotiuk cracks the SJ roster. He'd have to go through waivers to go to the Cuda and SJ I don't think will want to risk losing him before seeing what he has to offer at the NHL level.

Duke Trade
All signs point to Pesce having nixed any potential EK65 to CAR deal. I'd love to have Pesce as a Sharks fan, but it doesn't seem like he'd be interested.
On the off chance that he would be, I could see Duclair + Benning/Rutta as a more accurate trade value.

I see him starting with the Cuda for the start of the year and then either quickly after a couple of games or by the TDL at the absolute latest joining the NHL squad. Would welcome being wrong, but that's just how I see it.
Okhotiuk's not waiver-exempt so I think he's a lock for the NHL 23-man roster, and then you have Vlasic Knyzhov Simek as well, and while I think Simek's the guy who gets replaced by Thrun, I see him having first crack at keeping his spot on the start of the season. Ferraro's in there too at the moment if we disregard this proposed deal.

I don’t hate this but I would rather go Nylander than Matthews and pray to hockey gods we get 1st OA and Macklin Celebrini. Smith and Celebrini 1/2 C would set up a powerful future down the middle</div></div>
Yeah, this took a lot longer than I thought it would lol... I actually had both Matthews and Nylander, made a last minute change to bring in Demelo and Toffoli over Nylander and another young rookie on defense. Little less powerful on offense but little more stable defensively. I think Guschin is going to surprise too and bring some of that snipe that Nylander has, and Toffoli's very underrated too. Still fuming over envy at how cheap NJD got him (and Meier too, even though we kinda lucked out with the pick to land Musty).
Keeping my fingers crossed for Celebrini too. I think it happens, SJ's truly bad enough this year for it to happen, especially if they're able to mass sell at the deadline.

You're probably right with Burroughs over Gawanke for now. I'll change that and reflect it.
I don't know about Granlund, I can see him as the 3C, somewhere on the wing, or 4C if he doesn't impress since Sturm's stock is up after the tail end of last season and his impressive summer so far. Hoffman, you're probably right (if anything, for SJ to showcase him to ship out at the TDL), I'll switch that up too. Although he spent a good amount of time on the bottom line in MTL last season so not too far-fetched, but this is to start at least, so I see your point.

FAs Remain
This is a fine roster and plan. The trade has too little return for that much of a retention, so if it's 2.5mil retained instead, this would be a very realistic roster. Like others have said, no need to buy out Labanc and Simek. Otherwise good stuff.

I've always thought that the Nylander-Pesce swap is such a win-win for both teams. Really not sure why some Leafs fans insist that there's needs to be more. Makes perfect sense.
That's way too much retention on Karlsson for SJ.

Eklund? He definitely makes the starting lineup, probably on the top line with Hertl and Zadina. Maybe even another young forward makes it too.
I think Thrun and even Pulli got an NHL shot before Mukhamadullin. I could see him cracking into the lineup post-TDL though later on in the season.
I think one of Todd/Carpenter mayyybe makes the 23-man team, but I think they're more needed and likely to be with the Barracuda. Smith may make the 23-man roster too.

Karlsson to the Maple Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>If this were to ever happen they just flip Nylander. Why would they sign Nylander long term but not Meier?</div></div>
I think Meier was drawn to playing for a contender asap and management was still a year away from next year where they have boat loads of cap space and could really turn it around quick potentially, and Meier ofc wanted to be with fellow countryman/friend Hischier. Devils were always a perfect fit for him and management wanted to create that cap space for the time being while more importantly also getting their assets in return, so in this scenario, in the grand scheme of things which they could have planned, they'd have assets for Meier (Musty, Zetterland, Mukhamadullin, 2024 1st/2nd, cap space for the time being) as well as Nylander instead of just Meier.
Also, I'm not sure I'd have been as comfortable giving Meier the long-term extension for that amount of cap/years over Nylander from a management perspective as well. I think Nylander holds up better than Meier who plays a heavier checking game. Part of the sell to Nylander could be that they're also interested in competing soon and making a run at Lindholm or even Matthews as well in free agency, with many of Eklund Smith Musty Bystedt Mukhamadullin Gushchin Thrun Pulli as young guns who'll also be able to help the team win as early as next year as supporting casts (hopefully Eklund will be further along than those guys as a key lynchpin like Nylander).

What's the max cap hit threshold you think Canes/Pens would accept EK65 at? 7? Lower?

3 Way Blockbuster Karlsson Trade Between Sharks Hurricanes Predators
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I think your issue is with the word untouchable. Let’s replace that with ‘you’d have to knock our socks off’.
Adding him into a deal like this does not knock your sock off. You’re almost giving away Jarvis for nothing in this situation. You’re giving up Jarvis, Pesce, 1st and 2nd for EK at $6m and Zetterlund (who probably doesn’t even crack the lineup).</div></div>
It's mind-boggling how Erik Karlsson just had a season for the ages with a 100-point season, played in all 82 games last season, won the norris, here you're locking him in for 4 more years at only 6mil (as an elite defenseman he'll likely decline slower than forwards and will decline post 36-37), and yet you define that as 'nothing'. Incredible.
Karlsson at 9.5mil or so has less value and wouldn't warrant Jarvis. That's true. But at 6mil? It's within reason.

3 Way Blockbuster Karlsson Trade Between Sharks Hurricanes Predators
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Top prospects?
Even without having to retain on EK, NSH isn't moving Askarov for a rental 2nd pair defenceman they don't have room for, two lackluster prospects, and a 2nd.</div></div>
Pesce very likely would resign with Nashville. He doesn't want Canada. He doesn't want the West coast. He'll stick around in Nashville if they pay him fair value. If a team can't make room for Brett Pesce then they must be a dynasty on defense.
Bordeleau isn't a lackluster prospect. He's got serious 2C upside. Weisblatt is a former 1st whose value went down the past few seasons but has regained his form as of late. He was noticeably the 2nd best player on the ice in SJ's developmental camp game a few weeks ago behind Musty. SJ has drafted/signed too many RWs of late, so he's expendable only in that sense.
The PHI 2024 2nd included in the deal here has plenty of value since it'll more than likely be in the 33-37 range. PHI will suck this season.
Askarov's a great top-6-7 goalie prospect in the league. But let's not pretend a team has to move heaven and earth to be able to acquire him. No one's trading a grade-A+ prospect for him. And he'll have to wait a long, long time in NSH behind their goalies, which is why they were open to shopping him as part of a package deal for a higher pack in the 2023 draft. Bordeleau+Weisblatt+a high 2024 2nd is perfectly fair value -- it's just a matter of if NSH decides to trade one of their goalies instead of Askarov, which doesn't seem to be the case.

I like the idea of Petry coming to SJ and then being flipped to TOR for Murray (who only haas 1 year left on his deal instead of 2 like Petry). But not sure TOR can fit Petry in their cap unless they trade Nylander and/or a dman.
SJ's not retaining 4.5mil though. And if they somehow agree to doing that, it won't be for Granlund + Petry/Murray, a late 2024 1st, and with all due respect to the prospects included, not those prospects.
Also, that COL trade doesn't make sense for either team. If SJ shipped Barbs and Benning, it'd be for picks, not another LDman. And COL, if they were shopping Girard at all, would want more.
