I can't see Buffalo moving Tuch, he's very likely their next captain.
BUT I gotta ask who is saying this is something the Jets are looking at? Cause this was mentioned to me by a pretty reliable source yesterday so makes me wonder, I still don't buy it though, just can't see Buffalo even entertaining the idea of trading Tuch.
Should keep Stanley, he's looking much better lately and Carrier is too small for playoff hockey, the Jets defense needs to get bigger not smaller.

This sucks for me…I’m a huge Konecny fan and I’ve wanted him in WPG for a while now, but unfortunately, top 6 winger isn’t a need…Jets need a 2C first and foremost before doing or looking at anything else… once we have that issue resolved we can look at adding RHD depth for the playoffs.
In the offseason we need to make some moves to free up cap space for extensions and to make roster openings for kids moving up, but even then there isn’t need for a top 6 winger, (unless Ehlers refuses to sign or wants more than we can afford), but that’s another year away.
Any chance you’ll hold onto him for us just in case?
I FREAKIN HATE THIS SO MUCH

Deadline
Would be pretty awful asset management by Chevy to trade an early 2nd round pick for a guy he lost on waivers just to protect a guy from waivers that he waived this season, cant see him making that deal.
Barron is playing well and Schmidt has been a lot better lately, better to keep both and buyout Schmidt in the summer if necessary.
That Lindholm trade is a bit steep imo.

Hoffman to WPG via ARI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>He still got 14 goals on a bad team. He isn’t a waste of a spot. He is an offensive third liner. At 1 million it’s pretty valuable. If you want to talk of a waste of a spot, talk about Logan Stanley. And I’m pretty sure a lot of teams were on Hoffman’s case before he signed with Montreal.</div></div>
No, no one wanted Hoffman. All the insiders at the time thought he was going to Europe. Then Montreal threw a bad contract at him.
Montreal fans also thought Edmundson was getting a 1st and top prospect minimum and how did that work out? You're perfectly welcome to keep Hoffman and his 14 goals playing way more minutes in Montreal than he would anywhere else.
We're not going to agree so we can just let it be.

What will the jets look like
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Agree with you.... this why I'm suggesting a Pesce type, who would be a partner for #44 (this is a must need). DeMelo is on the smallest size, but could/should slide into another pairing with either Dillon or Sandberg...
The thing is, we can't change our current right side overnight, but moving some of our defensive assets that I have suggested in a earlier post would be a start, but #44 stays. And yesterdays trade was a must to get a return, but for a left side D-Man?</div></div>
Pesce would be great but highly unlikely he'd extend in Canada so he's not worth spending the assets on.
I know he's not much bigger then DeMelo but I'd target Dumba for that spot IF a new home could be found for Schmidt or DeMelo or maybe Dillon though I'd prefer to keep Dillon but it sounds like Dumba is being pursued by Dallas and he probably wouldn't sign in Winnipeg anyway.
That top pair RHD spot is soooo hard to fill and Morrissey being a slight dman doesn't help matters either. Idk what they can really do there to upgrade it but it is an issue, its not like the Jets 2nd or 3rd pair are a bunch of studs either.
I think that trade was just to get an AHL body and some backup in case someone is lost on waivers like Stanley in the NHL or Chisholm from the AHL team. I really liked Gawanke's potential and think the Jets really mishandled him, he's a great skater with a heavy shot and has pretty decent size plus is that oh so difficult to find RHD, he'd skate circles around Heinola and Stanley yet they're always ahead in callups cause they were 1st round picks.. 🙄.. I hope he gets a chance in SJ.

3 way for dubois
Give it up... the ship has sailed. He is about to be a King and the last 12 months of Habs fans saying he's coming home to Montreal and wont sign anywhere else and Winnipeg has no leverage is over.
Unless Montreal comes in at the 11th hour with a deal involving Dach, it's simply not going to happen. That is the only thing the Jets would balk at at this point. They want current young NHL'ers, not futures and cap dumps. Even still, if it were me, I'm taking Vilardi and Iafallo over Dach and Dvorak.

you may not like the other pieces but dont lie about the offer not being competitive ,its beneath you
Norlinder finished the year strong and has regained a lot of value internally as he was struggling to adjust to Small Ice but seems fine now.
Dvorak is a dump for cap purposes.
While it coulda been 100% better
It coulda been a lot worse to as any deal with LAK will require WPG to RS and take back a contract to be cap compliant.
There's no world where you're not taking back a contract for PLD</div></div>
Yeah, I laid out what the offer gives the Jets above.
Taking back cap isn't the issue taking back dead cap like Dvorak, without being paid to take it, is the issue. LA may send back cap, but it is better and actually useful cap compared to. what Montreal fans want to send back.
Any prospects/players that have been mentioned so far from LA are light years better than anything Montreal fans have offered. LA also has a better, more positionally suitable and deeper prospect pool to draw from.

WPG passes on the Marner trade. I'd rather have Connor for 3 more years at $7.1m than Marner for 2 years at almost $11m...that and the fact were also giving up Lowry (Captain conversation) and our 1st...

Like that you put descriptions in to legitimize your decisions, but Heidt at 18? No. I have him at 32. WPG selects Nate Danielson at 18. You also have him noted as a (D) in your notes. He's a (C). I have him as my #4 C in the draft behind Bedard, Fantilli and Smith.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JusticeWinslow1</b></div><div>A comparable winger? Money or not, marner's rookie season was the same as Ehlers best season points wise and he only had 3 more points than Marner. Marner has 6 seasons with more points and 3 90 pt seasons.
As for Helly, he gone at the end of the year so guess Winnipeg could get nothing for him.
Sure glad you don't run the Jets</div></div>
Dollar for dollar. Ehlers is a better value. I know Leaf fans put a lot of value in points scored in the regular season, but that doesn't matter when Marner is a no show in the tough games in the playoffs.
The Jets won't lose Helle for nothing unless they want to. So no need to worry.
You may not want to acknowledge it, but the NHL has a salary cap and as Toronto has found out if you throw away a large portion of your cap on players that only want to play and put up points in easy games, it makes it very hard to build a successful team.
Marner simply isn't worth his contract. You can get 2 really good players for the same price.

Marner to the Jets with Samsonov
There's simply no chance Winnipeg overpays so badly for an overpaid winger that disappears when it counts.
With his contract, no one is giving up an elite goalie, a comparable winger when you factor in salary and a top 4 defenseman for Marner.

next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Wind, you are right, Mtl will not give up #5 and as you say, why? But in saying that, many of their supporters believe all the players on the Mtl roster are Beliveau, Lafleur talent level. Most would keep all the good pieces and trade only the players that actually are of no help to the other team (really, one sided deals). My understanding of how a trade works, its suppose to be a "win/win " for both teams.
But in my opinion, if trade discussions in the real world world are happening as they are in here, I hope the Jets take a "strong pass away from Canadien talks" and turn to other teams, such as Carolina. I believe if the Hurricanes lose out to Florida shortly, PLD could be the missing piece that could help get them to the next stage. Checking on their roster there are RD's, young prospects, draft pick(s) that would interest the Jets. Just saying!!!!</div></div>
Very true. None of us have any idea of what is actually being discussed and there's definitely more on the table for negotiations than what Montreal fans will acknowledge.
As you said, trades at least have to work for both sides, with give and take going both ways.
It won't be a deal like 99.9% of Montreal fans believe, where Montrealare gives up only prospects and players they certain no longer have the potential to play in the NHL and fill no needs for the Jets. It will be a deal like 99.9% of Jets fans say, reasonably fair for both teams that addresses at least some needs for Winnipeg.

The sooner this PLD stuff is over, the better it will be for this site!!!! I believe a retool will happen in Wpg, but not a complete rebuild. Trades have to happen, but trading with partners who are preparied to offer value in return. Some of this stuff I'm seeing/reading is complete foolishness.</div></div>
IKR. The Cat trades from Ottawa make no sense. Most sens fans: VANCOUVER GIB DEMKO we give 3 pieces that we don't want. Trade Cat to detroit and get draft pick but don't give vancouver herp derp
Or these PLD trades that essentially add a random team that just benefits the Habs even more. Like I saw one that the Habs got PLD AND Pionk from the Jets, and got Demko and Hoggy from Vancouver. But only ended up trading Anderson, Calgary's first, Allen, Hoffman, and the Florida first '23
like what?
I think the Jets will soft rebuild. Trade some key pieces, especially if Hellebyuck wants to win.

Seriously Montreal homers stop... Anderson is not a TOP asset in trades. His contract is HORRENDOUS for his production.
And 90% of these trades favor the Habs so bad it's not even funny anymore...
This trade is terrible for Vancouver. This trade is so bad for the Jets. And this trade the Habs make out like bandits.. Top 6 physical center. Essentially for a pretty alright t4 guy. A horrible contract. A draft pick, probably a 20-30 range pick, two freaken drafts AFTER this years... ?? how?

If Dubois is willing to go to more than one team like Tkachuk was Winnipeg could wind up getting a decent haul for him too but you won't get that from Montreal if it's the only place he wants to go.</div></div>
Which is what I said. Very rare. From what we know now, the only thing PLD had said is that he wants to get to UFA, presumably to maximize earnings, he hasn't said he has any preferred destination.
So, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Montreal can certainly wait for the sure thing signing. Just like Gaudreau was a sure thing for Jersey, Tkachuk was a sure thing for St. Louis and Trouba was a guarantee to go to Detroit. It more than likely works just as well for Montreal.
