<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Agree with you.... this why I'm suggesting a Pesce type, who would be a partner for #44 (this is a must need). DeMelo is on the smallest size, but could/should slide into another pairing with either Dillon or Sandberg...

The thing is, we can't change our current right side overnight, but moving some of our defensive assets that I have suggested in a earlier post would be a start, but #44 stays. And yesterdays trade was a must to get a return, but for a left side D-Man?</div></div>

Pesce would be great but highly unlikely he'd extend in Canada so he's not worth spending the assets on.

I know he's not much bigger then DeMelo but I'd target Dumba for that spot IF a new home could be found for Schmidt or DeMelo or maybe Dillon though I'd prefer to keep Dillon but it sounds like Dumba is being pursued by Dallas and he probably wouldn't sign in Winnipeg anyway.

That top pair RHD spot is soooo hard to fill and Morrissey being a slight dman doesn't help matters either. Idk what they can really do there to upgrade it but it is an issue, its not like the Jets 2nd or 3rd pair are a bunch of studs either.

I think that trade was just to get an AHL body and some backup in case someone is lost on waivers like Stanley in the NHL or Chisholm from the AHL team. I really liked Gawanke's potential and think the Jets really mishandled him, he's a great skater with a heavy shot and has pretty decent size plus is that oh so difficult to find RHD, he'd skate circles around Heinola and Stanley yet they're always ahead in callups cause they were 1st round picks.. 🙄.. I hope he gets a chance in SJ.

Sujet: next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Wind, you are right, Mtl will not give up #5 and as you say, why? But in saying that, many of their supporters believe all the players on the Mtl roster are Beliveau, Lafleur talent level. Most would keep all the good pieces and trade only the players that actually are of no help to the other team (really, one sided deals). My understanding of how a trade works, its suppose to be a "win/win " for both teams.

But in my opinion, if trade discussions in the real world world are happening as they are in here, I hope the Jets take a "strong pass away from Canadien talks" and turn to other teams, such as Carolina. I believe if the Hurricanes lose out to Florida shortly, PLD could be the missing piece that could help get them to the next stage. Checking on their roster there are RD's, young prospects, draft pick(s) that would interest the Jets. Just saying!!!!</div></div>

Very true. None of us have any idea of what is actually being discussed and there's definitely more on the table for negotiations than what Montreal fans will acknowledge.

As you said, trades at least have to work for both sides, with give and take going both ways.

It won't be a deal like 99.9% of Montreal fans believe, where Montrealare gives up only prospects and players they certain no longer have the potential to play in the NHL and fill no needs for the Jets. It will be a deal like 99.9% of Jets fans say, reasonably fair for both teams that addresses at least some needs for Winnipeg.
