4 Centers Suzuki - Dach - Newhook - Dvorak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs_trade_churner_50</b></div><div>Too each there own. I would give Dach and Newhook until the trade deadline in 2025 to prove if they can play Center. Maybe they are both better on the wing. It’s possible, but I believe they are both very capable centers.
Dach was the best player through the preseason and the first two games before the injury. It was a freak accident. I don’t think you have given him a real chance. I understand he is one big injury away from being unreliable, but I believe you are shutting the door on him too soon.
I may eat my words in 11 months, but I hope not for the sake of the Canadiens, because Dach’s ceiling is high.
#gohabsgo</div></div>
Dach has had 184 games worth of chances since signing with the Habs and has only managed to play 43, that is enough IMO. Also whe you take into account his time with the Hawks, he has only played 212 games out of a possible 410, that is horrible! I like Dach he would be a really, really good player <strong>if he wasnt always injured</strong>. I am just so tired of all the man games lost over the last 3 years, ignoring Price and Weber's contributions, Dach has been the other most significant contributor to that.

Sorry but I disagree with your assessment, Habs have 3 centers (Suzuki, Dvorak and Evans) Dach is to injury prone to even be considered a roster player let alone a center, Newhook is just not a center he is more suited to the wing. Dvorak will likely be traded in the offseason so one could argue we only have 2 centers headed into next season.

Dvorak has value, is a FA at the end of next season and has a low buyout

Understanding
If we take Hughes at his word ( and we have no reason not to since he has thus far been pretty open on everything) he wants to be a playoff team in 2024-25, that would mean he is going to go shopping big time this summer.
As far as Matheson and Savard go, I don't see either being traded until we know Hutson,Reinbacher and Mailloux are going to be full time NHLers. Even then, I can see the Habs extending Mathesonand Savard to short term deals. I hat the idea but Guhle may be one of the guys moved for help in other areas. As of right now though the plan seems to be playing Guhle on the right and moving 2-3 of Harris, Struble, Barron and Kovacevic in the offseason.
As far as Hutson goes, his ceiling is Hughes or Makar, his floor is a more offensive Harris, most likely he ends up as a more offensive Spurgeon. Any way you look at it, he is a guy we are definitely keeping until we know where on the scale he is going to land.
Gally and Anderson are going to remain Habs until their contracts expire. Hughes and MSL have both said they expect Anderson to get back to being a 20+ goal scorer next year, so reading into that, they are planning on having him on the roster. Gallagher, I feel like they are just keeping around for the lockerroom and work ethic, he has literally put his blood, sweat and tears into the organization, So they will remain loyal to him, if only out of respect and to show other veteran players that the organization isn't just going to run them out of town near the end of their careers as they have done in the past. That should help with FA's being more willing to sign in Montreal than they have been in the past.

I said "don't expect" not that he won't (which btw, he did sign). I was also just saying that it doesn't make sense from the Habs standpoint with 3 games to go. I was just trying to manage expectations

Don't expect him to sign until around July, it doesn't make sense for the Habs to burn a year off his ELC for 3 games. He will likely be signed shortly after the NHL calendar flips to the 2024-25 season on July 1st. He will then attend rookie camp in the summer and then the main camp in the fall

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Typically with Necas I tend to think, "what would I want to move Nick Suzuki" and then I just stop myself from posting Necas trades.</div></div>
Necas doesn't have Suzuki's value, I would be hard pressed to say he has Zegras' value since Zegras has consistently been a 60 point player and Necas has 1 70 point season and the rest are at less than 55 points. If Necas has Suzuki's value then Zegras has Draisaitl's and Suzuki has McDavid, how does any of that make sense? Zegras and Necas are both terrible defensively, both are big top 6 forwards who's fanbases see them as centers, Zegras is younger, more consistent, puts up more points generally, has a better contract situation and won't be going to Arbitration looking for a 1 year 7+ mil deal so he can head to FA and get a much larger contract. Hell even Zegras' ceiling is higher than Necas and Necas has been in the league longer

Hockey Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>not the same age bro. caufield also doesnt have any 70 points season. would you trade him away for a late first?
your is flawed man. suzuki 70 point season is the outlier too the way you think.</div></div>
No the difference is Suzuki has been progressing towards a 70 point season every year, if he has another 60 point season next year, then yes this year would be his outlier as well. Necas hasn't progressed every year, he has been a 50 point player every year leading up to his 70 point season, then followed that 70 point season up with another 55 point season, that's the definition of an outlier, something outside the norm.
Also Domi scored 72 points when he was 24, Necas scored 71 points when he was 24, same age. The fact that Necas is regressing back to his normal 55 point average should scare GM's off signing him to big money for long term.

Necas, isn't even worth this offer, he scores an average of 50-55 points a season and has 1 outlier season. Know who else was a career 50-55 point forward with 1 outlier 70+ point season? Max freaking Domi, would you pay this much for Domi? I wouldn't, the Canes keep their next Kotkaniemi and overpay him too!

Congratulations, it's open season on the best Habs players since you traded everyone that was brought in to protect them. You must really hate having a healthy lineup with how much this team is going to be run down.
