You could make a case for a change of scenery trade with Groulx and Wahlstrom for sure, but the difference between them is far less than a 3rd round pick. That's a swap I'd make 1-for-1 or not at all from the Ducks perspective.
No interest in Coghlan on the Henrique trade. Meh AHL defender is not an organization need at the moment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>Fair. I'm having a hard time gauging Zegras' value at this point, but I'm sure ANA will get something good for him if they move him. The way I looked at this deal was basically;
1st + Raty for Zegras
2nd to take Mikheyev</div></div>
Might as well add my take also. To dump Mikheyev's 2x4.75M (9.5M total) is at least a 1st. The only thing that might bring that cost down is if for some reason the acquiring team actually wanted him as a player. That's kind of doubtful.
Raty isn't any where close to good enough to be a main piece in a Zegras trade. The 1st is in 2025 and is too late in the round (20+) so it's also not good enough to be a main piece. One of these two things needs to be significantly better. Like Lekkerimaki. Or some how get a 2024 1st that is in the 7-10 range.

Offseason
Keeping Strome and Vatrano is far, far, far, better than Goodrow and Johansen plus some draft capital (that the team doesn't really need). Yikes what a terrible step backwards with those two trade.
Besides that there's all sorts of pointless change over in the bottom six / bottom pair depth on the team. Vaakaneinen > Cole, Jones > Nieto, Leason > McMann, etc.

Zegras requires an NHL ready forward replacement that is a lot better than Bemstrom (or maybe a RHD). At this point more picks is pretty meh as far as aiding the rebuild go, especially when you're talking about picks in 2025 and 2026.
So it's more about team need than it is total value.

We keep telling you zero defense in the trade, you just don't want to hear it.

So small market, bottom five revenue Anaheim is going to retain on Allen instead of the massive market, highest revenue Montreal. A Montreal team that could retain, but just doesn't want to???
The only team that this trade makes any sense for is the Habs and they have the least bit of it. Allen retained for a 3rd.

DNVR Roast My Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dummy37</b></div><div>
However, I don't think RyJo is as much of a burden as people seem to think. He's probably about $1M overpaid for his current production, but his biggest issue has just been his terrible fit in the Avs system. With a change of scenery, he could still be worth the $4M cap hit.</div></div>
Colorado has a problem they need to fix... wasting a roster spot and 4M in cap on a player that didn't fit. No team is going to bail them out of that self-made mess for free. The going rate for a full year @ 4M AAV is about a 2nd round pick.
For the record Anaheim has 52M committed to only 14 players for next season. I'm pretty sure they can spend another 20M on the rest of the roster without needing any "help".

Three Trade Team
Why would Anaheim and Ottawa need Montreal to get in the middle of a Zegras for Tkachuk swap. I guarantee you that Anaheim would much rather have Brady over the Montreal draft pick.
Ignoring that I doubt the Sens would have any interest in a Zegras for Tkachuk swap.

A Reconstitution
Pigs will fly before Anaheim retains 10M over 5 years on Graves and the extra Reilly adds on top of that. The Ducks are bottom five in league revenue and haven't seen a playoff gate for years and won't for years into the future. Chicago and Montreal are the big money, suck-ass teams of the league. I'd suggest you talk to one of them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I’m expecting Anaheim to use a high pick on another D. I think that was the driver of the Gauthier swap. This draft points to it unless a specific forward drops.
Either way, Moore is incented to wait as long as possible to sign and get that Harvard degree. His coach is an ex NHL type that knows the business. I believe they are coached to choose the best developmental situation for them and the numbers the Ducks have on the backend is a pretty strong case against them.</div></div>
I would move Moore if I was in Verbeek's shoes. I don't think he'll sign with the Ducks so they might as well get *something* for him.

Underrated 3C option
I fail to see any reason why the Ducks would trade Lundestrom.
Berard might be a good prospect but he's still a small forward that isn't going to scratch Verbeek's woody for big players.
The 2nd pick is half washed out by the 3rd going back and the Ducks both have multiple 2nds already and a prospect pool that's top 5 in the league. In that context moving up from the 3rd to the 2nd round has minimal value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I was just throwing out names. What is Anaheim’s biggest need that could be filled with Zegras trade?
I had thought a legit sniper/finisher…and defensive RD. That right?</div></div>
Tomasino would be of no interest that is for certain. There just isn't room for another forward coming back. Don't get super invested in the lines combos but...
Gauthier - Carlsson - Strome
Killorn - McTavish - Terry
Vatrano - Lundestrom - XXX
Jones - Groulx - Leason
McGinn - Johnston
So XXX could easily just be Zegras (would 100% shuffle lines then) or Holtz. I'd be much more interested in Nashville's 2024 1st on top of Holtz to even the deal. But that would have to be a draft table trade, knowing both where the pick lands and who is on the board at that spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JAKE6</b></div><div>even after trading henrique? janrkrok is a solid swiss army knife that can play all 3 positions</div></div>
The Ducks already have Killorn, Strome and Vatrano as middle six veteran guys. Brock McGinn is terrible, but he's also clogging up the roster. Letting Rico (and Silfverberg) go is necessary to open up roster spots to younger players. Candidate #1 needing a spot will be Cutter Gauthier but there are others.
If nothing else signing a UFA comparable to Jarnkrok is always an option as is getting paid a sweetener to take a less than good contract. Put all that together and all the Ducks need or want for Lyubushkin is a pick. Players and/or contracts is negative value compared to draft capital.

The cap hit on a buyout may be irrelevant to Anaheim, but your "plan" has a small market, bottom 5 in revenue team (with no playoff dates) spending nearly 3M in actual money for no gain to themselves directly. The only team benefiting from this supposed Anaheim buyout is Colorado.

Trying to find a Zegras trade that de-risks the trade for Anaheim
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Except that this is a vast overpayment on that deal.</div></div>
"Vast" is a stretch. With Hindsight we know now that Faber is getting plenty of Calder talk in the same year that Connor Bedard is a rookie. But even at the time of the trade he was a NCAA kid chosen to represent the US at the Olympics. He was a top notch prospect then as much as he is today.
Farrell is "meh". You clearly like him. I like him a lot less. A 2nd round pick three drafts from now is also a long way off to get excited about.
I think the overall offer here is good enough to strongly consider, but I really don't think you are blowing the Ducks doors off.

Honestly I don't think Zegras is very good. I would stay away, but if you're dead set on trying to deal for him I would just be going with winnipegs pick, montreals 2nd, and some middle prospect.</div></div>
That doesn't get you Zegras though. In the 2019 draft class he ranks 6th in games played, 3rd in points and 5th in goals scored. And that's with this season being a total write off. The kid has elite talent and just needs a good coach and good team structure to maximize his strengths.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>I think it's a fair criticism, but I would counter with 3 points:
1) This was not the case with the Fiala deal. Faber was a risky prospect, and this is a vast overpayment on that deal.
</div></div>
In the Fiala trade Minnesota was completely hamstrung by their cap situation. They a) couldn't afford to pay Fiala who needed a new contract and b) couldn't afford to take back any other NHL salary in return. Their leverage to negotiate a trade was greatly reduced by these things.
Zegras has a reasonable contract and the Ducks have more cap space than almost any one in the league. Your comparable falls apart some what in my mind.

LOL, pigs will fly before Zegras is traded within the division for that load bits and pieces. Taken in the same draft Zegras has 200 games played and 146 points. Pelletier (a smurf) has 24 games and 7 points. Two firsts that will both be 25+ picks don't come close to bridging that gap.

Flyers unrealistic offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>flyersflock</b></div><div>Why'd they trade Drysdale if they're just going to draft another D over the high upside forwards at that spot? Verbeek confuses me if he's taking Levshunov, ESPECIALLY Silayev since he's another LHD</div></div>
In the NHL you draft BPA if you are smart. It's easy to assume that Verbeek likes one or the other defender better than Drysdale and Gauthier better than the forwards. Remember that Drysdale wasn't a Verbeek pick nor does he fit the physical profile the GMPV covets.
WRT to Silayev. If you think he's in the same caliber as Hedman or Makar (ie a true #1 capable of winning the Norris) you draft him regardless of left or right. I'm not claiming he's that good but if the Ducks draft him it's a sure sign that they do think that. The Ducks have lots of good left D but nobody in that range. Fowler has been the Ducks top LHD for a long time and I don't think any one would argue with me saying he's a #2 or even a #3 guy at best. Mintyukov and Zellweger I think will both top out like Fowler.
The best path to winning a cup includes having a #1 D. Or two. Nothing was better than the Ducks cup winning team with Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger on it.
