Filling needs but leaving room for Frost amp Farabee
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>I just don't see COL needing to keep EJ as a 3rd pairing guy. Girard and Zadorov down the left with a 3rd pairing guy seems more than fine. As for VGK, I think with the way UFAs are going now, they should be able to find a solid one when Stastny is done. Moving Eakin and Haula isn't enough savings from the VGK teams I have done. If they are going to lowball Karlsson, he could be open to an offer-sheet as well.</div></div>
Oh, I was thinking EJ, Barrie, Makar down the right so that Makar can get easy matchups early on and take advantage of that. I guess I'm also expecting them to lose Barrie, but even if they don't, you need as many good defensemen as possible to be successful IMO. Having four good ones (the righties plus Girard, I'm not a fan of Zadarov) just makes things easier for everyone.
Regarding Eakin and Haula, they'd be moving out 6.6M by doing that. Karlsson is at 5.25M currently, and scored 0.81 points per game in his Vegas career. If I had to guess, he'll go up to 7M or so; Evolving Wild's model has his projection at 6.682M AAV on a 5 year deal. They could save more money (7.725 instead of 6.6) by moving Eakin and Miller FWIW. There happens to be an Eastern Conference team with cap space and the need for a center and right handed defenseman :)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>COL has too many D. </div></div>
The thing is, EJ (along with Barrie and Makar) is one of their good ones. I guess I just don't really see a reason for them to trade one of their three good ones but you never know.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>As for the VGK trade, Haula has 1 more year until UFA status and Vegas is going to sign Gusev which makes Haula redundant (unless they want him for the 4th line...expensive 4th liner!).</div></div>
I guess I'd expect them to move Haula and Eakin over Haula and Karlsson to clear cap space. Obviously it's not as much savings, but they Karlsson is probably the best out of the three so I'd think they'll want to keep him however possible. Plus, Stastny only has two years left on his deal going into next season so they'll need to keep a good center around (along with Glass) for when he retires or doesn't resign.

Interesting trades here. The Colorado trade is tough for two reasons. First, I don't think they'll be inclined to move him. Second, he has a NMC so he'll have to waive it to come to Philly. I get the logic behind the Vegas trade (they need to clear cap) but I don't think they give up both Karlsson and Haula to do that. I'd think you're only going to get one of the two TBH, which is fine so long as what you're sending back isn't as much (ie, don't trade the 2020 1st unless Karlsson is part of the deal).

Interesting trade, but I don't think Carolina trades Pesce in division. The return is good, but I think they'll want a more established player than Konecny (Nylander, for example). Not sure how I feel about 5 years of Dzingel at 5M.

Nice job on this. Only thing I'd change, as we've previously discussed, is to send AMac to the AHL to give yourself some more cap space. Otherwise, it looks pretty darn good.

If D gt C realistically
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zubrowka</b></div><div>Took your advice, and bumped it up to a third. The premise with the Yotes dealing anyone like Demers is how badly burned they were with injuries last year. It really killed their season. They may want to shed salary of injury risk players (who are still marketable) in favor of UFA forward signings or trades to address their scoring woes. I'm convinced they will do this with someone regardless of whether the Flyers partner with them in a trade. .</div></div>
It definitely makes sense, but I'd think they'd want fair value for Demers so the better pick is probably more realistic. Plus, there's definitely going to be competition to get him as you mentioned so a 3rd over a 4th probably makes this deal more attractive to the Yotes. That being said, if all it would take is a fourth and Hagg then I'm sure plenty of us will drive Hagg to the airport lol.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zubrowka</b></div><div>Just leaving AMac where he is as there's no need for more $ now in this build. He's fine as depth. </div></div>
Fair though I have two thoughts there:
1. I don't expect them (or see a reason to) carry 8 defensemen.
2. Sending him down opens up more cap space to either use later on in the year or use now to bring in another forward in the event that they don't think Frost is NHL ready.
There's a good amount of space without sending AMac to the AHL, but sending him to the Phantoms should give you like 2-3M more to play with. I'm not sure if someone jumps out as an ideal candidate, but it gives you more flexibility to improve the roster.
Also, the Phantoms are likely going to need some bodies on defense IIRC; none of the European skater prospects are coming over from what I've seen so they only have 4 or 5 defensemen heading into next season as of now. That could obviously change, of course.

I like Demers quite a bit, and was hoping that Hexy would sign him back when he was a UFA but I'm not convinced that the Yotes will want to move him. Still, he'd make sense but you probably need to give up more than Hagg and a 6th to get him.
Also, send MacDonald to the AHL and save yourself some money.

Trades with TOR and BUF plus a few UFAs
RFA signings are interesting; Laughton and Hartman are probably a bit too high but the TK contract isn't something that I expected to see. That being said, I don't think that's a bad deal just not one that I think is realistic based on what he's shown so far (ie, I don't see him getting 8 years but I wouldn't complain about that). Kapanen might be a bit too low. I'm not exactly a fan of that Buffalo trade or the Zuc signing. That's not to say Zuc is bad; I'd just rather have Jake over him.

Helping Tampa while helping ourselves
Helping Tampa makes a lot of sense, but Miller is more of a winger than a center. Not exactly thrilled about taking back Callahan, but I guess it's not too bad considering only a third was moved for Miller. Where is Scott Laughton in all of this? Looks like he wasn't resigned, but he's definitely a better 4C option than Voroybev at this point.

Not bad, but I'd hope they'd use the leftover 8M for a better player than Nelson. I doubt Miller signs since his wife is an actress and he supposedly picked Anaheim to be closer to her. Also, where did Laughton go?

RNH and Trouba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>With $6 mil off the books, they can now go get one in FA.</div></div>
Sure, but does 6M in space plus the 11th pick really help them immediately? Maybe, depending on the FA, but I would think they try to get a roster player (Dougie Hamilton or Ghost, for example ) in any move with RNH. Maybe that 6M helps them land a good FA, but the top-tier ones are going to cost more than 6M.

RNH and Trouba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Care to elaborate...</div></div>
Couple thoughts from a fellow Flyers fan:
1. Signing Talbot to that deal would be fine. Not great, since he's struggled the past two seasons, but fine for his purpose.
2. Provorov is probably a bit low dollars wise on an 8 year deal. I'd think he'll get 7M+
3. Sanheim and TK bridge deals are good and realistic, though maybe a tad bit high for both.
4. Send AMac to the AHL to save yourself some cap. Could buy him out too, but there's plenty of space without doing that.
5. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Winnipeg trade because I don't think Trouba is as big of an upgrade as most people seem to think. He gives up a lot of shots and scoring changes IIRC, which is kind of the opposite of what Fletcher wants. That's not to say Trouba isn't good, mind you; I just don't think he solves the problem.
6. Kind of doubt Frost makes the team out of camp, though I wouldn't hate it. Sending AMac down should give them like 4-5M in cap space, which could be used on a forward to play with Nolan and JVR.
7. I really, really hope we never have to see a Hagg-Gudas pairing again. It's painful to watch. Maybe just swap Myers and Gudas for the start of the year? I kind of hope they move Hagg, TBH.
I know it seems like I'm picking this apart, but this is one of the better ACGM posts on here and, while not a dream off-season, this seems somewhat realistic IMO.

Yeah, not huge on Nyquist either. 4 years would be a bit concerning for Myers since he really just hasn't been that good. I guess my concern is that he'll turn into another AMac type where his contract and play are both really bad.

Great back and forth, guys. That being said, not sure Dzingel for five years is really ideal. Also, I'd prefer to not add Tyler Myers if possible since he's really not that good anymore. 5.5M is probably too much for him TBH.

Because he isn't very good. The reason this team got into cap trouble is because they overpaid bad to mediocre players. Giving Tyler Myers 7M a year for the next 6 year is another over-payment for a mediocre veteran.
Also, what's the rationale for bringing back Mrazek? Highly doubt he's interested in coming back to Philly where he won't be the starter.

Schenn just scored 59 points and his comparables (age plus points) should put him in the 4.75M-5M+ range with 5.5M probably being the "max" for him. I do agree that Lyubimov probably doesn't start from day one, but could if a trade is made. I suspect that the fourth line will be PEB - Gordon - Read/Weise (whichever one doesn't get the RW3 spot).
Only other change I'd expect is that Ghost and Provorov most likely won't play together. I would expect one with MDZ and one with Gudas; though I guess they could put one with Schultz and the other with Streit if they want MDZ-Gudas to stay together.
