Faulk Trade Possibilities
I kind of just don't want Faulk to be a Red Wing. We already have too many defensemen who are prone to turnovers. Plus it would take away a roster spot for Hicketts or Hronek. Idk maybe Abdelkader + Jensen would work.

I still can't believe he fell to the Islanders. Dobson is going to be an absolute beast in a couple of years. Aside from Dahlin I think he was the best defenseman of the draft.

I haven't heard that. Can you send me the link, I couldn't find that article. My logic was that Kronwall captained team Sweden in Sochi and that 'C' would be a gesture of respect for his career/loyalty.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stevierebz</b></div><div>Not a huge fan of the line combinations. Mantha is already a net front presence so I’d prefer a sniper with him and lark, I think Zadina would fit that well. Second I’d put AA on the third line opposite Vanek and start Svechnikov in GR.
Also IMO, either give Lark the C straight out or give them all an A and let him earn it.</div></div>
Bertuzzi is the net front presence and Mantha would be the sniper. I get that he's huge, but thats not utilizing his talent. Ras would be the net front on the other unit. That's a full 23 man roster and Svech is the next forward to be called up. He had a rough time with his injury, but his rookie season in GR is better than any season Mantha, Bert, or AA had in GR and he looked pretty good in his call up. I'd rather have Svech in a sheltered 3rd line role with Vanek than AA because Svech has much more potential than AA IMO and needs it more to adjust to the NHL level. With AA on the 4th line and on the top PP unit and with Blash doing his in-game line blender, AA would still have his 15 min/game.
Edit: AA and Larkin have pretty good shots too. IDK what Bylsma has planned, but maybe Nyquist could be on the top PP unit. I don't think Zadina will make the team right away. He'll likely be called up if a forward goes on IR or after the deadline when Nyquist (or another forward) is traded. The Wings are usually very patient with their prospects. Plus GR will be very beneficial to Zadina, not so much for Svech at this point.

Exactly how I feel. A lot of our fanbase is sleeping on Svech, his rookie season in GR was better than any season Bert, Mantha, and AA had in GR. Just had some bad luck with his injury, but he looked pretty good in his call up late in the season.

31 in 31: Detroit Red Wings
I don't think the wings will trade Vanek. He has a NTC and the Wings use him as kind of an extra coach on the ice to develop young players. Jensen is almost guaranteed to be traded. I think Hicketts gets called up before Hronek (but it's really a toss up between the two). Our top d pairing last season was Daley and Ericsson. it'll most likely be Daley and DDK/Ericsson again this season. Glenny is our best player on the FO and centers our 4th line. AA doesn't really belong in the top 6 and he definitely doesn't belong on the PK. Larkin should be on the PK. Hronek and Kronwall don't kill penalties either. Daley spent the most time on the PK last season. Jensen killed a lot of penalties too. The coaches plan on having Rasmussen as a LW so they can ease him into the center position like they did with Larkin. Rasmussen and Bertuzzi are our net front presence, they won't be on the same unit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div> get AA to 2C </div></div>
AA can't really play center. His career FO% is 42 and last year it was 41.5% and his defensive game is too weak to play center. He was at his best when he had sheltered minutes on the 3rd line with Nielsen and Vanek, but I'd rather have Svech have those minutes with Vanek because I think he has much more promise than AA. The coaches/management will probably want Ras to play wing his first season and gradually ease him into the center position like they did with Larkin.

Wings opening day roster
I think Svech and Hicketts make the team over Zadina and Hronek. Mostly because they're older, looked pretty good in their call ups, and AHL conditioning might be more beneficial to Zadina and Hronek than Svech and Hicketts. After the deadline when Nyquist and Jensen are traded, Zadina and Hronek become full time roster players.

ken holland is a moron
Helm's contract isn't even bad. Hagelin and Eller have similar contracts and all 3 won a cup. Detroit already has issues getting out of the defensive zone, the Wings would be that much worse at it without Helm. He has chemistry with pretty much the entire roster, can fill any role, and he's probably one of the best PK'ers in the league. Zetterberg has back issues so having an extra center is pretty nice (Nielsen can be 2C and Helm 3C if Hank is injured). Yeah that Abdelkader contract sucks especially since Bertuzzi, Mantha, and soon to be Rasmussen took his role(s). He's not even a bad player, I think he would fit in perfectly for Carolina since they addressed they wanted to be harder to play against. I still can't believe Riggy is still in the league let alone on our top pairing, seriously I've wanted him gone since 2012. And he was still bad last year, he just had a good season by his standards.

I know offer sheets almost never happen, but this is probably the easiest it’ll ever be to do one on Larkin. DET wouldn’t be able to match</div></div>
Franzen will be put on LTIR. So that's about 6.8 million left to sign him. Larkin should be in the 6-6.5 million (long term) ball park. On the off chance he signs an offer sheet, one of the vets (Nyquist, Helm, or Ericsson) would be moved or bought out.

No that's about fair for him. Schwartz had better numbers and drafted in the mid 1st too. He's getting paid about a million more. Tatar had slightly worse numbers and got 2.75 million so he's going to get more than that. Mantha is pretty streaky, didn't always show up to games, and not great defensively. That's why he got a bridge deal. He hashed things out with Blash and he's boxing over the summer to bring some fire to his game. He's must likely going to have a great year and get a big upgrade on his next contract.

God no! Faulk is terrible defensively. There's a reason Carolina is shopping him. I don't want him on the team let alone give up Svech, a 2nd, and Nyquist for him. Frk would be the odd man out in that lineup instead of Glendening. AA can't play center or kill penalties.

Have you seen Detroit's goalie depth? Yes he would be the perfect backup goalie for us. He has experience being the starter for a team with terrible defence, really good stats as Colorado's back up and at the WC, and still young for a goalie. Low risk, high reward and we don't have to give up any assets.

June 14 - Trades #2 w/ DAL, DET, CAR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Targeting Wahlstrom. I think You can bank on Hronek, Cholowski and that is currently it as for sure NHLers. Sulak is 24 and hasn't shown anything. Hicketts regressed in his 2nd year in the AHL and Lindstrom is too young to know yet. DET needs to refill the cupboards and what better way than to get a young, already played in the NHL, D man, 2 1sts and Rubstov who is still a solid prospect.</div></div>
Hicketts is NHL ready. If he wasn't waiver exempt he would've made the team in October. Sulak proved he can play against NHL calibre players at the WC. Nick Jensen, Michael Kempny, and Nikita Zaitsev were late bloomers too. Even though he won the Memorial Cup, German didn't have a good season. All of that is NOT worth the 6OA pick especially when guys with elite potential in a hard to come by position (who shoot right) who meet our needs are available. Detroit is pretty set on a taking a big all situation RHD. Wahlstrom will probably fall to Chicago or NYR anyway. Denisenko, Kravtsov, and Thomas aren't exactly bad options for top 6 forwards.

Yeah Detroit's current defense is bad, but we have some good prospects (Hronek, Hicketts, Lindstrom, Cholowski, and Sulak) in our system. Hronek had a really good season in GR and was impressive at the WC, he's NHL ready. Hicketts is really good too and didn't look out of place in Detroit during his call up. Lindstrom had a good season at the SHL and played well for team Sweden. Sulak had a strong performance in Finland and at the WC. We also need more right handed defensemen and Hagg shoots left. Dobson and Bouchard are the exact type of players Detroit needs in their rebuild (preferably Dobson). Why are you targeting the 6OA?

No thank you on the wings trade. Detroit desperately needs an all situation RHD like Dobson or Bouchard. The rumors of them moving down is if they think there's a way they can draft one of those 2 and Kotkaniemi. I like the Spezza trade though.

RHD are so hot right now.</div></div>
I'm honestly happy either way with the Green situation. I like him as a player and he seems to be a positive presence so I would be happy if he signed with us. If he doesn't sign then it just opens up a roster spot for a prospect that needs to be on the team. Maybe Montreal or Edmonton would be interested in Gardiner. They have talented rosters and need a puck moving LHD.

Trade with Detroit and Winnipeg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>You are looking at the Wings through rose coloured glasses. Green is in the twilight of his career and will make money on the open market. No chance he comes back to Detroit. As for Kronwall and Daley, they wouldn't make a lot of teams in the NHL right now. Also Gardiner would be an easy flip at the deadline. He's basically Kevin Shatenkirk and he got a very good haul when St Louis traded him 2 years ago. Think of the return you guys could get.</div></div>
There are media reports that Green is very close to signing with Detroit probably somewhere around 2 years at 4.5 million. His neck injury really brought his value down. You're right about Kronwall, but he deserves to finish out his contract and retire a red wing. Daley is our top shutdown defenseman and played a prominent role in Pittsburgh's Stanley Cups, he's still a useful top 4 defenseman. Yeah and Shattenkirk choked hard in the playoffs too, so I don't see the wings getting a better haul than what we gave for him. Hronek is a similar type player who showed a lot of promise at the WC with the added benefit of being waiver exempt, on his ELC, and shooting right (we need righties). Having Gardiner on the team just hinders the development of our prospects while not contributing to our long term goals.

Trade with Detroit and Winnipeg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Gardiner instantly becomes the best defenceman on Detroit and has proven to be great at moving the puck. He's super soft on along the boards but Detroit needs a major rebuild and having young guys come in with that blue line is a recipe for disaster. You guys need some veterans who can help transition to the next wings contender and currently have the absolute worst defence core in hockey. There are some AHL teams sporting better blue lines than Detroit is currently. Forwards are easier to find than defencemen and I think TO wants to make room for some younger guys to possibly make the lineup.
I can see Detroit saying no though, they may want to just stay bad for a while to keep getting high picks.</div></div>
We have plenty of veteran leadership with Kronwall, Daley, and Green (very likely he re-signs). They have high hockey IQ's and good leadership presence, it's just their bodies are crapping out on them. Trading for a soon to be 28 year old who has one year left on his contract and choked hard in the playoffs (making it hard to move him at the TDL) doesn't help our rebuild especially when giving up a 2nd rounder for him. The big thing is we have 2 NHL ready prospects (Hicketts and Hronek) who need an available roster spot next year. Gardiner won't be anywhere near 52 points if he's playing for Detroit if anything he'll probably put up similar numbers to Green while being a defensive liability. That being said Green is physical, fast, and actually decent defensively so I still think he would be our best defenseman even with his lingering injuries.
