where linus might end up
I think the premise that he won’t go to Canadian teams or West Coast teams is based on parameters that are going to change significantly on July 1st.
A team that offers him a market extension with appropriate trade clauses could be more appealing than a lame duck season in Boston waiting to be traded and be away from his family for months if it happens.
No one knows how he will respond. Period. Maybe his wife or his best friend on earth who I assume aren’t going to post it on cap friendly,

do the leafs consider it at all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>reports seem to indicate he values staying on the east coast so the leafs may not be on his NTC list so he may not have a choice in the matter. i doubt the Bs trade him within the Atlantic but who knows. with Hanifin off the market they could use Ullmark as a trade chip to try and fill the spot on defence.</div></div>
But you guys don't need a #1 guy, that's what you picked up Lindholm to do, you need a relatively cheap 2nd pairing guy with a bit of offense, there should be plenty of options available on the market.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>Agreed, i just figure they'll want to probably ease Lysell into the NHL and top 6 might be a lot for him and for some reason i don't see them putting Poitras and Lysell on a line together. not saying they shouldn't just doesn't seem to be Montys MO. I think Poitras needs to really pop in camp or they could send him to Providence for the start of the year to get reps and up to speed and then try and get him back in the lineup.</div></div>
I’m very curious to see where they play Lysell assuming he makes the team out of camp
I could see him on the third line but I’d like to see him playing with Pasta or Marchand

I doubt it.
Leafs value Rielly more than what other teams do.
It would take quite an offer for them to part with him.

Holtz is going to be interesting in terms of how he’s valued. In one sense, he’s talented enough to be worth more than the 2025 first. In another, he’s had a couple of coaches minimize his role and he has some risks.
Lauko is likely an insurance policy that cycles between Providence and Boston. It’s OK if he is exposed via waivers. Hes still useful even if he isn’t on the NHL roster</div></div>
In terms of coaches, Brunette was Holtz biggest advocate in NJD.
And if I had to trust coaches views, I think I go

He’s actually an interesting watch. He has speed and toughness. He does a lot of interesting things on the ice except he always seems to fumble it as he starts to shoot. It will have to be Beecher OR Lauko. You can’t have two of them on the ice at the same time
My guess is a 5th at best at this stage. He’s useful, but not undifferentiated from a lot of AHL options

Lindholm Prove It Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>all good points, I just hope he doesn't feel a pressure to sign Lindholm to address the C position. he's absolutely nailed some offseason signings but also made some mistakes, i think Lindholm would fit and has a similar style to what would compliment the group but as you said things change and FA is still aways away.</div></div>
Sweeney hasn’t made many mistakes recently and I will go with his judgment, because frankly … if not for the Miller fiasco, he deserved GM of the year last year and I’d argue this year was better.
People lost their head over the Peeke deal. Now it looks very intelligent. I think he’s found a group around him that is suited to make good decisions

Happy for him. As with any situation, things can change when the money is real and the situation is good.

Skjei would be a decent alternative.
OEL for a couple year at 3 maybe.
Dillon at $4 is rough. Would rather add a puck mover with Carlo, Peeke, Spoon already in the mix. 🤷🏻♂️

I think the playoffs are going to dictate if the Bruins retain DeBrusk @ something like 4X5. If he has a solid post season ‘yes’ if no they may look at someone else to fill that 2LW. Very streaky player.

Lindholm Prove It Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>MIller since coming over from Tampa has been a point a game player, Lindholm on the other hand hasn't always been to that level. and not that they need to be offensive juggernauts but Lindholm best years came with some pretty high end wingers but is pretty average without them. i think he's a fine player but for me my concern is the age of the player and the length of contract we're going to give out to him.</div></div>
Miller was not playing to his level last year. He was not a plus defender after a career of being one. Hai defensive efficiency metrics were in the bottom third, which is an absolute anomaly, fans were openly talking about sending him to Pittsburgh despite his history
Using the point per game status was how fans of other teams discounted Patrice Bergeron. Outside of this year, Lindholm has been a very good two way center whose advanced stats were extremely good,
He’s struggled this year. 100% acknowledged. If he would have been acquired in free agency last offseason, the deal would have been lauded and he would have been viewed as the missing piece. It’s one year.
What you or I think is irrelevant. It’s what Sweeney thinks which matters. I will say that Don tends to focus on his own evaluations rather than fit within their previous system. It’s one of the reasons I believe Lindholm is more likely than not at this point. Things change. See Hanifin.

I think they throw the bag at Hanifin, probably looking for a top 6 center. If they re-sign DeBrusk, which is very much up in the air, I don't see him fitting.</div></div>
I wouldn't think he gets that much. Keep in mind, the entire league overlooked him last year - there's a reason for that. also keep in mind basically all of his success has come in boston, i would think that would make him motivated to stay. he's bounced around quite a bit. I think a 2x2-2.5 deal makes sense for both sides. That Heinen - Zacha - Pasta line just works.

Agree and he has about 5.5m to allocate to a defenseman in the scenario were we keep both Heinen and DeBrusk.

if we keep most of the roster in tact well probably keep Ully
You could offer DeBrusk a million less than that and he'd still go for it.
You could also go with 2 scratches instead of 4 which frees up another 1.5 million.
And the cap is probably going up to 87.7 not 87 million. So that's another 700k right there.
Which leaves you with $4.9 million of cap space to add another player. And if you do get another player with that money that subtracts one player from the roster who will lose his spot to the new guy.
So after all that, you can spend another $5.7 million on a player even with Ullmark staying.

Combined.
Assume Hanifin gets 7.5M (+500k), Debrusk 5.25 M (+250k), and Heinen is probably closer to 2.5M (+1.25M)
